- A speedrun of the chapter "Highway 17" done in 6 segments. No scripts or cheats were used. This speedrun uses a glitch called Accelerated Back Hop (ABH). Some frames are always lost between segments. Completed in about 2 days. I could improve a few segments but this was only done for fun. I know...I didn't get the rocket launcher. Sorry.

I can't stop loving how people exploit physics glitches in a game in which you play as a theoretical physicist. Although by this point it's just physicist.

The angle of the broken bridge that I land on allows me not to take any fall damage. There were only 2 segments in this run where I took damage.

I love just going onto this chapter and ABH-ing all over the map, so much space.

@@jeka_stolenko no it isnt. Bhop uses side strafing combined with mouse movements and duckrolling. This is abh, where you just crouch + jump spam facing backwards. They are not the same.
@@sharcc2511 bhop is just continuous jumping which advancement is in velocity boosting. Bhop exists in many games. Even Minecraft has bhop. It's not only air strafing + jumps

There's actually one being made as we speak. I, along with some other runners in SourceRuns, am making it. We've passed Highway 17 (in 49 seconds) already, and we're finishing up the rest of Sandtraps this week.
Portal2Maps, you did an excellent job in this chapter, and you definitely are right, this chapter is the most fun with ABH!

this is the most fun to ABH on imo. ALl the ramps and landscapes propel you super far.
The funny thing is, he took 2 days to perfect this. Time well spent man!

when you have 1/4 length of the video doing intro, you know it's a good speedrun.
I can see Combine scattering picking up their shit and Combine Camera's, evacuating while Gordon with the Biggest Grin 100000 Miles Per Hour with a Crowbar aimed for Breen's head already.

The only thing bothers me how did you landed at 1:44. You landed on unsloped surface, and received fall damage, because your screen is tilted to right side after landing. And you didn't die. Explain plz
I was in the air at 1:44 so I'm assuming you mean 1:46. That IS a sloped surface, try it yourself. I did not take fall damage. When people think I somehow cheated in this run I find it laughable because it's not even close to the best time. I never cheat and never will.

@@troywright359 no it is not. If glitching is cheating then literally no current speedruns would be viable. Abh? Thats a glitch. Wallclimb? Glitch.
Bhop? Glitch.
Loadwarp? Glitch.

@@sharcc2511 for speedruns it's ok but for online multiplayer it's usually patched out
Because using glitches for online multiplayer would be senseless and sometimes glitches give you too much advantage vs. other player but this is not online multiplayer.
Glitching is not cheating but it's overusing something that game creators missed.
And it's not the player that is using glitch the problem, but the game creator failure.
How can you even tell if that's a glitch? Maybe it's a feature not a glitch?
It's their game and player is just using what game author's gave him.
That is why glitches are allowed in speedruning and everyone who calls, a speedruner a cheater 'cause he's using glitches is an idiot.

Imagine one could do that in real life, no more cars, airplanes, ships, vehicles at all, just jump, turn around mid-air and then jump again and bamm, you're wherever you'd want to be
Now imagine what it would be like if he found out how to do Accelerated Forwards Hopping.
Forward hopping is slower, that's why I wasn't doing it, although this can of course be beat using AFH.
I'm kinda good at AFH, so for me it's not that slow but you can say whatever.
