I’m gonna be honest, the likelihood of somebody stealing your rack (that only works on this van) is slim to none. With that said, if you have something secured with a lock to the top of the van with this rack, that could be a potential security concern. I hadn’t thought of that. I’ve always purchased the lock cores for my Yakima racks on other vehicles. Not an option for the built in Pacifica rails though.
One thing you could do if you're really that concerned is take one of the thumb screws like you see here and go to a hardware store that has a bunch of bolts and you can figure out which thread the thumb screw is and then find some bolts that might use like say a torx bit or a 12-point hex head or something like that that's a little bit on the more difficult side with a nice washer and just use that instead.
Thank you for this video. We are renting one of these for a big family trip in May and might need some roof storage (I have a cargo net and lots of bungy cords). Just checked out the 3rd Row/Stow option at Avis and noticed these roof rack thingies and suspected/hoped there was something like this going on. From a Subaru Forester owner for 20 years, I am impressed..
@@krazyk86cu Thanks. It was so much easier with Dodge Grand Caravan's. Mine is getting old & I need a van eventually when this one dies, that I can just use bungee's instead of the straps otherwise it would take me too darn long
Wow, I thought the crossbars were missing on my van! Thank you! Wish the sales team had taught me this months ago
This is freaking awesome. I was thinking I had to buy crossbars. Thanks!
So you can adjust them closer or further on the rack, tnx great video. I have a 2020 caravan sxt
Unbelievable thank you so much I just purchased a used 2019 Pacifica and I was thrilled to death to find this roof rack and I found it by accident
Life saver thanks for taking the time to make this vid! ❤
Do they make a locking version of thumbscrew seems too easy to steal some ones whole rack setup

I cannot thank you enough for this my friend. Much appreciated
Good video, it sure helped out!
Thank you for this saved my vacation 🐐
Just bought a cargo carrier for the Pacifica. Now I know how to install it easily. THANK MY MAN!
Thank you so much for sharing so easy
Very helpful. Thanks!
Is it okay to leave all those holes still exposed when you've installed the cross bars?
Yes it’s fine. They’ve been designed for outdoor use.
Probably integrated into the drainage system for the roof
@@jimmyf1312 Thanks for your reply as well
the rack needs tie-down fittings so that your 18' sea kayak doesn't get airborne at 75 mph
thank you for your video, helped me to figure it out. ❤
Oh... only 150 lbs! Good to know! I will rent a truck to pick up my 12foot long hardwood deck boards!

Great lesson and much appreciated. But now what about the netting thing?
Thanks bro ! 👍
can you see putting an extension ladder on top with bungee cords?
You could but I’d use proper straps over bungees
