Eddie Durham JazzFest 2022 - Pt.3

EDDIE DURHAM PARK was established in 2013 in his hometown of San Marcos, SW Texas. In 2022 his daughter emceed this 1st (to be annual every October) major Festival held inside the Park. Other major Eddie Durham Tribute Festivals, sponsored by The Calaboose African American History Museum (across the street from the Park), were held nearby in 2003, 2004, 2005 and Centennial Year 2006. The Museum displays a fascinating permanent exhibit. Durham was a pivotal figure in establishing the big band SWING MUSIC idiom. He was a "hit-maker" for Moten, Basie, Ink Spots etc. He pioneered a non-pressure technique on trombone, and on electric guitar, he gave lessons to Charlie Christian.
