A few weeks ago, I participated in Southeast Gravel's Kershaw Gold Rush in South Carolina. I did the long course of 83 miles and almost 6000ft of climbing. 1/4 of the long course participants did not finish or bailed early. I was the last one across the finish line. Mr. Cohen, congrats to you. I know that exact feeling. It was worth it. God bless.
Funny how a few people get whiny, because there slow down for a little bit. So they want it shut down. The racers and crew spend 5 million. Does that concern them nope.
No one cares about the 7 ranchers who are “inconvenienced” aka have to wait 5 minutes longer to get somewhere when this is bringing in MILLIONS to the county. Land shouldn’t hold voting rights over people simpleton.
How dare these cyclists bring in millions of dollars to the county! The 7 farmers who had to wait 5 extra minutes to get somewhere are right. Cancel this travesty!
Are we sure those are legitimate ranchers, and not just wealthy people with hobby farm vacation homes who don't like to be inconvenienced on their weekend retreats?
If that really happened, and it probably did, they dishonor the vast majority who respect and value the privilege of being able to ride in such a magnificent location. I can only say, as a member of that vast majority, that we will do everything possible to merit the trust of residents in and around Steamboat including calling out offenders.
Great video and a wonderful event. A couple of comments: Dale, how about showing some class and quitting whining about having to take care of the twins when it is obvious that your wife does 99.9% of the work. Second, how bout give credit to your incredible dad without him you would not be here doing what you do. I raced and road with with Dale, Wayne, Davis, Andy, Ron, Alan, etc back in the day in Boulder and know what an incredible person and racer he was is and was. Then, there is the fact that he came back after years of recovery and therapy after being hit coming down Lefthand Canyon, and was left with severe TBI to ride with Wayne and all of us at the Mt. Evans Hill climb. Just a word about how you would not be able to have done what you have without him getting you started in your "inspirational" story on here. As far as the changes being forced on SBT, wish it was being done at other events. Not killing the financial benefits to the town like the police want to do by making it just a ride; but having a race capped at 2k riders and still being a race.
Man , you had me crying at the end for the big guy.
These story’s are exactly the spirit of cycling. This was so beautiful in so many ways

Great take on an event recap. Not sure, but I believe this is the mystical "spirit of gravel."

Adrenaline + Dopamine feeling when riding a bike...
Cut out the Stetina clips (sorry Pete) and show this to the ranchers and other locals who want the race shut down.

Totally agree. He is not the guy to tell any sort of story.

How come you didn't cover the gravel racers pooping in people's yards?

Elect your government officials better. No race in 2025? WTH! Only 1,800 people? No cash price? Different date? Ridiculous!
There's a race and a ride in 2025. It's a go!
Whats JRs social media handles?

I’d love to show this to my groms but someone forgot to edit out the cussing.

Pete was just fine on this video and it was great hearing from him.
I think you just have some personal issues you need to deal with!
