@@ColeChickering the teacher was actually! But unfortunately, as I am sure you can guess, bringing a hot dog from home didn't help my reputation for being weird kid 🤣
OMG, I started getting American Girl stuff in the mid 90s and I had SO many things from this catalogue!! One thing I have no memory of, however, is those painted backgrounds.
If you're near nj, come visit my huge AG doll studio- I've almost collected one of every single doll AG has ever made and I have that giant beautiful book of backgrounds! I got it recently from a kids consignment sale for $12 I was beside myself!
Just imagining going to the first day of school in a vinyl skirt set with thick tights and sweating majorly because it’s still September and hasn’t gotten cold…I can practically hear the sound of unsticking the skirt from the seat of one of those hard school chairs 🪠
Wow, I remember this TOO well 😂 I must have looked at this literally ten thousand times. Every morning eating cereal. And I see why!! Ugh it’s so cute lol. I was 8, and this must have been the year I received Molly for Christmas. I was fooled by the photos of the hair curlers… I totally ruined Molly’s hair 😂 My sister had Kirsten and she still looks perfect. I remember wanting to send her to their “doll hospital” so she could get new hair but my mom said no haha. I’m pretty sure it was really expensive! Love your channel! I might have to track down some 90s dELiA*s catalogs to send you, those were our other favorite growing up ❤
Those doll hair curlers are too tempting... probably a sneaky way to push doll hospital traffic. PS: I would die for a 90s dELiA*s catalog! They are hard to come by! Thank you for watching ❤
Okay so I never had specific AG cosplay items but I did play a loooooot of dress up with my friends. Due to the popularity of A Little Princess and the Secret Garden movies, we always tried to dress like we were girls from Victorian era lol.
I worked for the call center in the seasonal capacity, in Eau Claire, Wisconsin from 1997-2001. I was not really thrilled (and neither were the other employees) When Pleasant Rowland chose to sell her company to Mattel. The majority of the employees felt Mattel would destroy what the American Girl Doll stood for! We did end up discovering she regretted selling to them!
It's me, hi, I'm the girl who brought a hotdog to lunch in a thermos because of this catalogue AMA
Were your friends and teachers impressed with your ingenuity? 🌭

Oh my goodness, pulling out a warm wet hotdog is surely a lunch time faux pas
I appreciate the ingenuity... but the school lunch room probably has a microwave you could use, right?
Love it! I was born October 1997. I may have to look into picking up this catalog
It’s a good one! 🎂🎃

Which things from the catalog did you have?? :)
omg memory unlocked! I was 8 and had this exact catalog and wanted every one of those super bright outfits 😂
They are so inspiring! Go bright or go home.
These videos are so casually hilarious like when the biddy baby with the Halloween costume showed up I died laughing
😆

Woah! Thanks for the invite :)
Love that you found the AG background book for such a steal - I'm jealous!

Sounds fabulous! I’ve never even seen the Secret Garden - sounds like I’m missing out on some fancy fantasy 🪴
@@ColeChickering best part was the cute boy who could talk to animals and taught Mary how to feel happy again by planting a garden *sigh*
I would LOL if AG had a tiny thermos and hotdog packed inside for the back to school lunch 😂
LOVE this idea - Molly would probably pack something like that.

What an interesting job! Did the call center experience any changes with the Mattel takeover?
I love you thank you I subscribe I yearn I pine I perish!!!
Thanks for watching!!!
