Hilarious! I presume that the actor Daniel Stern is Jewish while Joe Pesci, being Italian, is Catholic or at least some other Christian denomination. So quite appropriate!
Sathya Prabhakar It's interesting, because Daniel Stern was 'allowed' as an actor to keep his original name. For example, both Tony Curtis and Kirk Douglas (father of Michael Douglas) were Jewish, but they had their original names changed when they took up acting careers. Perhaps it's because 1.) times have changed, and 2.) Daniel Stern's a character actor rather than leading man so he's not required to have a 'glamorous' image.
It depends on the people. Might be true for actors, they kinda had to change their names for some sad reason, but composers or else like Elmer Bernstein kept their name.
