Anyone who has ever passed out from heat stroke knows how it is. There really isn't anything you can do by the time you feel it coming on. I can't fault her. Professional athletes are normal people and sometimes the body just shuts down. Not cool, at all, very scary. Pass out and hit your head on the ground can be serious injury.
I passed out cold last year from heat stroke and you're spot on, once it's on there's no going back. You can tell your body is redlining so to speak beforehand and if you don't address it, game over pardon the pun. It was nice to see good sportsmanship from the other player and read she fully recovered.
TXNole10 Yep. Hot weather is no joke. One of the parts of being a top player, though, is staying cool and hydrated. Just part of the sport. But yeah once you hit that tunnel vision you know your body has had enough.
I just really like how organized everything was...physio reached quickly, umbrella kid reached quickly knew what he had to do That was a nice thing to see
You'd think it was the heat, it is a natural assumption, but Azarenka actually hit her head and got the concussion during the warm-up. The effects, apparently, did not hit her completely before she'd played some points.
I played a tennis tournament in Fredericksburg, Virginia and I remember it being 113 degrees. I did not collapse but I did give up the match because I felt like I was about to.
@2000astrocreep I had a concussion that was described as "mild" by the ER doctors. I felt dizzy and queasy EVERY time I stood up for almost a month and had trouble with short term memory for over two weeks! Mild my ass!
I’ve had heat stroke and it came on over a few days build up of heat , nowhere near as hot as this in the Uk. I had a temperature of 106F and I was hallucinating it was horrible. I never want to feel that I’ll again. Now I can’t cope with the heat at all anything over about 22/24c and I’m fit for nothing.
@EvanescenceDani She felt light headed and had headaches because apparently she went for a run before her match and hit her head an arm in a fall. She was diagnosed with a concussion. My guess is the heat compounded it and made her feel dizzy and dehydrated.
First of all, Vika was not dizzy from heat. She hit her head in practice did not realize it was as bad as a concussion. She had a concussion. That's why she was dizzy and fainted.
That's not the reason she w as struggling. She suffered a concussion from falling off a treadmill prior to the match. But the concussion symptoms didn't hit her until she started playing the match.
This women annoys me so much. Needless screaming with every shot, wether its her first or last in the game. Her match warm up is also ridiculous, makes an absolute fool of herself - dancing like a grandpa to crappy musician front of her opponents. Shame she collapsed though. Glad she's okay.
I don't know why your comment got so many negative votes, you're absolutely right!! And the worst of all the screamers, in my opinion, is Sharapova, but they put up with it because she's "so hot" XP
Even in New Jersey it gets tough. I played a match pretty early in the morning, but it was so humid I was gassed by the time I got to my next match, which was later that day.
if you lose games in Football by the opposition playing dead, then that team deserves to lose, ref's spot 90% of dives or you could go play grid-iron and have a 40 man squad and watch a 5 hour game, lol.
Adam Dawson Do you have any idea what playing in 102° heart can do to the human body? I'm from the high desert where temperatures often climb up into the triple digits in the summer. In a "dry" climate (extremely low humidity), the body cools itself through perspiration. However, in humid climates (such as much of the East Coast), the body doesn't always have the opportunity to sweat and cool down. The problem is compounded by heat reflective surfaces. So zip it, Skippy! 😄
i guess she had to leave the court in a wheelchair by faking an injury before she could leave the court in a wheelchair cos the crowd couldn't take her grunting, sorry, shrieking any more. not the first time that you cheated aza-SHRIEK-a!

I heard you could also swallow your tounge if you fall down badly, that means you pretty much just die...
Canon Nikon Sorry but I aint gay lol
gumbo Exactly, to add on to it all, once you have heat stroke you are more susceptible to heat related injuries.
TXNole10 Yep. Hot weather is no joke. One of the parts of being a top player, though, is staying cool and hydrated. Just part of the sport. But yeah once you hit that tunnel vision you know your body has had enough.

1:13 i love how her rival help her
i like how gisela is helping and giving directions
Wow a wheel chair instead of a stretcher? Proper protocol requires a stretcher. Step it up USTA!
usta???
+Allen Sha It stands for "United States Tennis Association"
Dulko called ice for her! That was really good sportsmanship :)
giselle dulko is really kind player...:)....!! She came and helped her....!!
But, Why is she laughing??? 3:13
maybe she was fun cuz she advanced to next round without playing anymore :D:D !!
Don't be serious ^^~...!!
lori stowe Sometimes people smile when they get anxious. It's a nervous reflex and uncontrollable.
I was thinking, great sportsmanship. Most of the time I just see the other players sitting down on the bench and waiting
10/10 frames per second

How do u get a concussion playing tennis
I hate seeing that. Thank God she was okay. She's such a talent and so beautiful.
@2000astrocreep I had a concussion that was described as "mild" by the ER doctors. I felt dizzy and queasy EVERY time I stood up for almost a month and had trouble with short term memory for over two weeks! Mild my ass!
Wearing black in blistering heat can't have helped!
was she playing against dulko??

Having had to give up contact sport due to the amount of concussions sustained over the years, I know concussion is no fun. Glad she ended up OK.
@EvanescenceDani She felt light headed and had headaches because apparently she went for a run before her match and hit her head an arm in a fall. She was diagnosed with a concussion. My guess is the heat compounded it and made her feel dizzy and dehydrated.
how did this happen?
First of all, Vika was not dizzy from heat. She hit her head in practice did not realize it was as bad as a concussion. She had a concussion. That's why she was dizzy and fainted.
I have played in 106 degree weather and it does take a massive hit on the body. It doesn't suprised me she got bad heat stroke.
That's not the reason she w

Victoria azarenka ,gran,gran tenista.
1:23
the poor thing tried her best to stand up rather than face the embarrassment of fainting
Felicidades a Vika por su embarazo, pero hace falta en los circuitos.
i had this happen in the summer of 33'. long time ago, but same heat
so nice of dulko to take the ice bag for victoria! Fortunately, victoria azarenka is all right now
Hopefully see be ok 🙏
If they can stop for rain surely they can stop play for it being too hot
She hit her head during practice before the match
you know somethings wrong when she doesnt grunt
Could be various factors
I feel sorry for Vika but moral of the story is do not wear black on a tennis court it absorbs heat!
Yeah! Gisela Dulko is very nice!
When the video started, i thought i was watching virtua tennis or some tennis game lol
during warm ups, she fell and hit her head. Dr's already checked her before the match.
yeah and the camera stays on it!
Para vika azarenka fue muy dificil abandonar el partido, pero no le quedo de otra
To the guy saying she fake this how did she fake if after she fell on her knees her head just went likeva doll just saying
Who, in their right mind, goes "for a run" before a Grand Slam match, in these temperature conditions??
holy crap i made that comment 3yrs ago.. and i'm still here on youtube. what am i doing with my life
😂
This isn't Doha's summer but US summer isn't for a Belarusian
Vika Azarenka es muy buena jugando tenis pero las lesiones la han perjudicado
This women annoys me so much. Needless screaming with every shot, wether its her first or last in the game. Her match warm up is also ridiculous, makes an absolute fool of herself - dancing like a grandpa to crappy musician front of her opponents.

felt bad for her, but i remember watching this match in awe as to how hot both players are
Pobre vika, de seguro se puso muy mal
I played tennis at 10am in bali once. After 30min I give up, it was too freaking hot.
Even in New Jersey it gets tough. I played a match pretty early in the morning, but it was so humid I was gassed by the time I got to my next match, which was later that day.
its the heat that made her collapse
Don't know, but you should go play some Grid-Iron
Azarenka won this match, 6-2, 6-2
@jebdog she lost the match by default because of that.. it's not like football where you can actually win by playing dead.
I should think that there are plenty of people who can't stand you.
This can definitely bring her an Oscar!
It's the heat dumbass
it was concussion dumbass
+H T what caused it was the heat dumbass.
she hit her head in the gym earlier in the day which was the actual cause of her collapsing dumbass
I understand she was withdrawn
WILL NOT CONTINUE
Como por ejemplo, ¿la Copa América? ¡Tenías que ser porteño! ¡¡Andáte a adular a Messi!!
Heat stroke... no doubt.
would tap. hydrated or not.
heatstroke
i wouldve yelled COME ON! so loud if i was her opponent. Serena and Maria would so I would too :)
beautiful ass view
Game Over
Always a good idea to wear a BLACK outfit in blistering hot sun drenched conditions....
not really. as long as she plays really good then why should yoyu care ? thats the way she plays
that's why i prefer water polo
Well it's too hot isn't it. Hold the U.S. Open a month later when it is cooler. End of.
read the description
😱😨😥😰😢
😢
Rip
She's not dead
She probably got nostalgia. She might hadnt drink enough water
i don't think you even know what tennis is about
La vacuna señores
yea? well people with severe concussions often have permanent brain damage. so yes, mild is the appropriate term
El us open es karma para vika
y la otra tenista de que se rie
My opinion must have meant something to you or you wouldn't have commented on it so calm yourself down lol.

Oh my god you are a genius
@@DFMotat thx 🙂
FAKE
@vimsi12 Wish i did it
who cares ?
dont were black in the sun
i thought people from third world countries like russia, sorry, "belarus" knew how to fight. clearly not from what i have just seen!
this video was brought to you by pfizer
Azarenka totally faked this
Her head hit the ground hard enough to get a concussion. That is not faking.

@@catmac3577 so true. plus nyc is a concreate jungle which makes things feel even hotter. it probably felt more like 120 than 102
