My dad is restoring his Torch Red 69 convertible 383 auto with a black top/black bench interior, the last time I've seen it run was 2002. We're all anxious to get it done so that there'll be another one on the road!
@@barbarasteed3966 I had a 68 442 Hurst and truth be told I liked my dad’s GTX better because it ran so smooth whereas mine had that loping idle that felt it was going to stall. All in all a nice car though.
My brothers first car was a 69 road runner also. He sold it in the fall of 81 before he headed off school to use for college money. The car was absolutely beautiful with new paint, American racing wheels, 383 4spd. That’s where my love for Mopars started. I bought my roadrunner then in the with nter of 82 and drove through high school. God I miss those cars!!!
I used to find Volare Roadrunners in the wrecking yards during the 90s and the RR horn was always gone before i could get to it first.😥 Even the spoilers, louvers and fender flares were gone by then too.😒 Anyway I always enjoy watching your videos💯 maybe one day you could show case a Aspen R/T, Super Coupe or a Volare RR thats not destroyed this time! 😂
You're right about the turquoise eng color and black beep beep horns in 68 had a friend who had a early 69 built in LA CA the engine was orange beep beep horn was black his car had the road wheels and his brake drums were painted orange.
@@markg7030 I just think the styling looks dated for 69. Not hating on it at all but it looks like a 64 car to me. By 69 the manufacturers were heading for a much more bulbous flowing line, laid back windscreens. look at the 69 gto with endura colour coded bumpers and pumped rear guards, The 69 mustang and camaro show the styling cues they were going for. Quarter vent windows were very much on the way out by the late sixties. Steve said they still sold well though so my opinion is obviously null!
@@watsisbuttndo829 Thanks for explaining. I see what you mean. It's true this style looks like they copied a 66- 67 GM mid sized car. Even Rambler copied this style on the Rebel one year before MOPAR in 67. Consider this the 70 Cuda and Challenger copied the 67 Camaro styling. I also like all of these cars anyway.
Buddy of mine has almost this exact car and has won the nats and many other prestigious shows. He's the head judge for OEM at the Mopar Nats and wrote a book on B Body restoration. Nice car in this video but a few things like the finish on the air cleaner, plug wires, the screws on the fender tag. Did not show the underside so interested in what they did there.
That 10K payment to WB must have been just a token payment as I think Warner Bros. got a ton of free advertisement for their Saturday morning cartoons because of the car. As I remember the Bugs Bunny / Lonny Tunes hour was about the most popular one on in the late 60's early 70's.
I heard a funny story... Sister company Dodge, heard Plymouth was coming out with a "Cartoon" named car, and they LAUGHED.... In 1968, Plymouth had hoped to sell a few thousand, needed up selling over 80,000 the first year... Dodge HURRIED and developed their own 'cartoon' car... The Superbee... what the hell is a Superbee...??? and thats the rest of the story. My FIRST Roadrunner, was 1970, 2 door coupe, B5 blue, I loved that car...
The base engine on the road runner was a 383. The base engine on the GTX was a 440. The road runner was a no frills car but you could order many options. The GTX was an up scale car that included more features.

lot of wrong information being presented as right in this vid...it was 10k for the Horn and 50k for the rights to use the cartoon bird. im starting to notice a pattern. that hacked up 340 duster that you " promoted for sale ",and esp after the hoovie collaboration vid, which was Eye opening for the deception and absolute lies about " all that matters is that Hemi vin tag,you can swap in a Whole nother car and itll be a Real legit hemi car !! You are so informed,, I'm overwhelmed at your knowledge,, is a very large spectrum.
The paint on that road runner is absolutely gorgeous !! That painter knows what he’s doing !!
I agree Don!
That bird’s looking mint. Loving the redline tires with the red paint. Meep meep.
Awesome Steve
long live the King of cars
My first car was a roadrunner convertible 1969 . with a 4 speed 383 magnum. I wish I had it now thanks for the great videos Steve!
Great video Steve. I've learned alot from you in a short time. You are Mr. Mopar!

Never knew about them OEM painted brake drums!!!

Excellent video Steve
Steve, it was nice meeting you at my job. Thanks. Mark, 1971,340 Duster, 4 spd. Hemi orange.

My first car was a 1969 GTX.GD! I wished I kept it. It was the 80s and could only afford 1 car at a time. :'(

I get fed up quickly with what people have to say these days, but I could listen to Magnante's Muscle Car Minutia 24/7.
Nice info Steve!!!
Never knew the logo was in the dust!? Every day's a school day with steve!
1969 Road Runners equipped with air conditioning had the 330 hp blue engine.
Favorite year.
Great looking Roadrunner!! 👍👍👍
Mmmmmmmm 1969 roadrunner 😍
Drop tops were, indeed, rare - but I’ll still take mine in a hardtop configuration…..👍
Mark Worman (graveyard cars) approves this content.👍😊
Been by that place in Auburn many times but yet to stop and check out the cars there. Thanks for the info on the Road Runner Steve!
Great video Steve! Love Road Runners!!!!

Ah Steve the 68 Road Runner engine was Turquoise not Blue..
Scorch Red!

Never thought the Road Runner price would be as high as they are today
Nice!
I don't think WB sold those copyrights to Chryco that cheap- I had always heard it was $50k.
The 68 road runner was a rare model Is in my mind better looking
As much as i like that car and would own it in a heartbeat, that thing would have looked old sitting on the lot in 69.
Please elaborate.

Purple horn's. 😂
I spray the drums and calipers to this very day and I'm almost 70 year old .
HONK THE HORN!!!!
Love your videos
Can you show the 71 behind it next?

For sale.

Meep meep!!!!
You finally show us one that's in working order and you didn't let us hear it?! Lol!
Almost to 50k subscribers! Anything special planned for the show when you reach that number?
Giving away Road Runner
My 1969 RR had a black horn. Must have been an early 69 build?

I’m wondering having watched this (and other Mags vids) at what point on the option list or packages are you forced to by a GTX instead of a RR?

Beautiful Roadrunner but I'd actually prefer a hardtop.
Beep beep...
Paint looks deeeep.
Chrysler paid Warner Brothers $50,000 for the rights to use the bird, not 10K
I have a 69 road runner coupe 383 h code. 4 speed with air grabber
What is a HiPo 383?
I lv mopar
If I had $99K in my pocket, I'd buy that, it's beautiful and well worth it. But, alas, it's out of my price range...
~
this guy is not a car guy
he is a clout chaser
They paid Warner brothers $50000 to use that
They should reproduce them now..the prices are too high..get a 68,69 AMC rebel..put ahemi in it badda Bing instant dodge!!!
