Grew up on a 4020 with a 5 bottom 16" plows - pump turned up and she would pull like champ - fire cone about 8" to 10" out the stack - turn the stack end cherry red at night and never get the engine hot. Amazing pieces of engineering. These were when JD did it right. I am not a fan of all the computerized - no one is allowed to do any mechanics work on our equipment unless they are authorized and have all our secret codes to reprogram the tractor to accept new parts etc. Maybe it is just me - I am a boomer and definitely not a millennial. One day these computers will fail or grid will go down and how will this present generation cope? WHAT?! no cell signal - no gps - they won't even be able to get home if they are more than 5 miles from their house! I find it sad. Thanks for a great video!
He men. I grew up plowing with an 806 Farmall 5 bottom Simi mount plow. Tork amplifier about 5miles an hour. In 74 we got a new 4030 with a cab. I swear that 806 would out pull it. Love watching you all plowing
My first tractor was a 1968 5020 row crop standard. Dad had a 1970 wheat land special. We pulled a 17 ft off set disc and 18 ft Chisel. We have some heavy black soil and sandy loam. We had plenty of power in the heavy soil. Run turbos on both tractors.
Seeing a coulter sunk in the ground is quite satisfying
I love the sound of the two cylinder echoing off a grove of trees! ❤
THOSE OLD 5020!S SURE HAVE A NICE SOUND/BRINGS BACK OLD MEMORIES
I really like the 5020 pulling the F245H plow. It certainly is great to see. Thanks for showing.
Thanks for watching!
Seems like all the Deere tractors sound great!! Especially under load. For me watching soil getting turned never gets old.

Love the 730 & that 5020. These are the machines that JD knew how to build to be tough and last.
Those 2 cylinders, how sweet that sound and the smell of that dirt. Priceless

We pulled 4-14's 5 3/4' mph with our 730 D. We had the 'fast' trans in ours too. Only breaking alfalfa sod did we have drop down to 3rd gear.
Love a 730, my favorite tractor of all time. I've always wanted to plow with one just once. Thanks for sharing!
Seems to me that 5020 had an easier time plowing than the newer John Deeres. And the 5020 was pulling a 7 bottom plough. 😀
Nice Running 730 Gas
Sure is
Great video! I'm really looking forward to plowing. Plowing is one of my favourite jobs. Those are some very beautiful tractors! 🤩
Thanks! Thanks for watching!
Mmmmm !!! I can smell the soil from here
