I had one of these from the late 1950’s until I passed it on to a nephew, in the 198O’s. At one time I had both .177 and .22 versions, and had lots of fun with both. I believe you may still be able to buy ‘uprated’ springs for this model; ditto replacement seals - both of which will certainly increase its power. Enjoy!

I had a similar looking one called the Webley Premier which dates from the 1960's and it's made of steel the later one's where aluminum and morphed into the Webley Tempest, Typhoon and Hurricane. If that barrel slams down it might do more than ruin the gun including your fingers! On mine the sear was worn out and the barrel snapped back but luckily my fingers where not under it at the time as it would have smashed the bones.I think that the velocity of these pistols is around 400 FPS in .177 and about 320 in .22.

That would be scary. I always kind of hold my breath that the sear holds after I cock it.

I actually just handled one of these, just today; I was at my grandparents for christmas, looking for a cassette player, and found it forgotten on the top shelf of a closet. It's a tiny bit rusty, but in good shape otherwise, good enough that I was able to read its model and find out what it was. Apparently my great grandfather bought it.

Also, my great grandfather was by no means rich; according to my grandfather he bought it to scare animals off the farm without killing them. So it apparently did have a solid use.

A little rust won't hurt it. They are built like tanks and will clean up nice and keep working.

I desperately need this. I can't find one in decent condition here in Canada..... I just recieved the MK1 and JR, I just REALLY wanted the pre-war MK1..... OR the Mk2 tarket model. definietly the best design out of all the webley air pistols.

Agreed, one my favorites as well. Toss up between prewar mk1 or a Birmingham 4 senior.

Is that the serial number above the left grip? As you said, yours has a bunch of patent markings on the right side. Mine has only 4 digits and none of the French and Canadian patent numbers.

I have one similar, but it bares no markings except for Webley on the hand stock. Any ideas.

It has no safety catch, but does have a thumb lever on the side for cocking.
