    I love that we got some more Cold War ships in this update, easily my favorite era of ship design. It's too bad though that War Thunder doesn't really have a niche for these types of frigates and sub-chasers to fill at the moment

      I really hope we get to see these roles fulfilled in the future

    That was definitely a ki102 as my initial identification was either that or a G4M1 Betty. However it was the orange Ki-102. As far as identifying Japanese twin engines goes, they fit into two categories, the smaller fighters like the Ki45 series or the larger bomber frames like the ki-49 and G4m series.

    I am surprised they got rid of STAAG as a couple of years later the P15 Termit AKA Styx anti ship missile reared its big head - STAAG would have been ideal for shooting these down as its accuracy was good enough and would have been superior to Seacat at the role of point defence
    The Whitby class Whitby doesn't have much versatility for a premium ship...I personally would have added the Salisbury Class instead as HMS Salisbury and Lincoln were equipped with Seacat, 1x2 Mark 6 4.5inch turret and a pair of 20mms. Seacat should be useful at destroying smaller coastal ships as it had a 18lb warhead with a range of 5km and would give better accuracy than the guns, it could also engage aircraft especially at Br 3.7 (Which also have to fight USS Douglas's unhistorical RIM-24 Tartars whish should actually be RGM-66 ARMs Passive Radar Homing Anti Ship missiles). The Salisbury had a far superior Radar system even to the Type 42 Destroyer as it had the Type 986 Radar System for Air Direction that was superior at tracking targets over land and at low level

      I agree, although from what I've read, it was so sensitive that the components weren't really fit for purpose. Requiring constant calibration and replacement.

    I'd never run the Blackpool but I was excited to the 4.5" Cannon because I enjoyed it on the Cadiz and Battle Class destroyers. I was somewhat disappointed in it's accuracy but overall it was played better than the Le Orla! 6090 ge is a big number to stomach for a ship fo this caliber though..
    I've noticed some changes to SAP as well. Not sure what's going on there.

      @lance425 I had to set up a custom scenario to get close to an optimal position (without being shot to pieces) even then it took 100 to fatally damage a Russian Groza
      They definitely deserve a targeting function. Since they are 360° and sufficiently ranged

    G'day, I have wishful thinking that you were playing the Type 12 prior to 2.17 as back then it an the Type 41 had absolutely glorious DM's as now you take little time to be sunk in battle which for a premium is alright but a TT ship is ohh... (especially the Type 41 with it's 30057sl Rc), For heavens sake why must the soviets be the only ones without shit DM's (they didn't receive DM nerfs in 2.17 like the rest of the frigates did).
    Now onto ammunition costs yeah OOF while 30 sl is still shit for F36 the F77 has 50 sl shells while F14 gets 60 sl shells (non HE equals 72000 sl in shells), Meanwhile those poxy Battles & Daring classes only have to deal with 1 sl shells... (Been thinking for years now that the Cost'all TT was just the old TT's economy while the Cheapwater TT was the new economy as the old TT some DD's had 15k Rc and cruisers had 80 sl shells).
    Still on a positive note I guess there was a change to the bow blindspot as it used to be 3-4.5km out now under 2km seems grand.
    Hm I hope we get further Type 12 frigates especially the Type 12I or 12M as notably Australia had them as the River class Destroyer Escort, (also kinda want a Type 14 2nd rate ASW Frigate with a small craft spawn heh maybe HMS Keppel since I'm near Keppel Island heh).
    Anywho I've started my grind on the Restigouche class destroyer and ohh I dare say I make no SL doing so (I'm like -14M sl along from the Type 41 due to ammunition costs).
    On a sidenote the Restigouche class has colour schemes which no other frigates (frigate, Patrol Ship, Escort ship, Destroyer escort, Destroyer) have yet.

    could they stop adding Ships Versions with Armament, that dont work in WT Naval, either by we dont have the right Targets and Settings for it, nor the right mechanics to even make them somehow usable or aimable^^
    But at least the Repair Costs are astronomical xd
    also @Cmdr. Tyrael
    Could you look into Russian 130mm Cannons? I have the Feeling they barely do any damage anymore, especially the Semi Armor Piercing Shells, that were once great for disabling other Destroyers and now act worse than pure AP. Not good when you have a slow rate of fire anyways.

    • @CmdrTyrael
      @CmdrTyrael  Рік тому

      I stated in this video towards the end that I feel like all nation SAP shells are significantly weaker currently.
      I think this is related to the Attempts to fix the HE pen. Though that's just my speculation
      British, US and Russian destroyers feel less effective and Japanese BB SAP is laughable IMO.

      @@CmdrTyrael i Only know HE and AP Shells from Japan so far and their AP Shells are one of the best.
      But yeah even the 283mm SAP Shell on the Graf Spee fighting Destroyers and Light Cruisers is a Joke. I almost only use HE or AP Shells currently expect maybe for US, because of the high fire rate and still having chances to destroy Modules and Ammo Storages.
      Also Did you notice the Premium Cruiser of France has litterally Nuke Shells with the 150mm HE? It does almost more damage than 200mm HE Shells of most Nations.

    So far the Royal Navy in Warthunder don't scar me too much.
    Seeing this review plus the Terra Nova one, British ships feel like just OK.
    You don't have the ability of deadly torpedo wall from Japaneses or the shower of hard hitting rounds from the US ships.
    If I have to grind an other naval tree after the US and Japanese one, I'm most likely going to choose the Russian Navy with their strange ships and boats rather than the Royal Navy.

    • @CmdrTyrael
      @CmdrTyrael  Рік тому +2

      I agree, they are definitely Mid-tier as far the game goes currently. I really hope they find their nice if subs are ever added.
      Russia's coastal tree is easily the most diverse and interesting fleet IMO.
      The range of cold war options is nice change of pace from the typical naval engagement. With lots of High pen Guns and rocket weaponry
      Their Bluewater isn't to be trifled with either
