I'm Lakers fan and always disliked the Celtic but I have to give props for showing respect and admiration for what Kobe has done with this presentation. Thank you Boston!
I'm a Bostonian now living in LA. When they weren't playing the Celtics, I was rooting for Kobe and the Lakers. I'm glad the rivalry got renewed. Kobe picked up where Jordan left off in 1998. He was the best player of the 2000s decade. He will be missed.
Never thought I'd see the day where the Garden was lit up purple and gold like that...just goes to show you how impactful a player Kobe was across the league, to the Celtics-Lakers rivalry, and the history of the NBA.
I’m all about this. If the lakers win I’ll be happy for them because it would be the best possible tribute to Kobe...to show the mamba mentality come playoff time
I’m at peace with this whole situation now. Kobe is all around us. It honestly feels like he never left us. Him and his daughter’s spirit are still here with us. We shouldn’t be sad, but instead be thankful that Kobe and GiGi were able to bring us all together. Love.

2:34 Tatum saying “Kobe was and will always be my favorite player of all-time.” The years will always go by and new players will come and go but i’ll never forget Kobe Bean Bryant
Being a laker fan, I always felt like I hated the celtics, but looking back now? All I can say is? Thank you Boston! The battles on the court gave us countless great memories. So much respect to you guys
The rivalry between the Lakers and the Celtics in the 80s made me a basketball fan for life. I’m a Laker fan, but I should thank both squads for lighting that fire.
This is why I love being from Boston and still consider it my home (even after moving away 4 years ago). We get as competitive as any sport fans can get, even to the point of being 'rude' and crazy. However, we appreciate talent and greatness. I remember the ovation we gave to Derek Jeter on his last game at Fenway. Even as Laker's biggest rivals, we appreciate Kobe for what he has accomplished individually and for the game of basketball. Thank again from a Boston sports fan!
Bruh at 2:04 the level of excitement Gigi has for her dad makes this tribute so much more powerful because she truly loved him and watching him play. Rest in peace, to all those lost.
Some of the greatest memories for me were Kobe against Boston in the Finals. So tragic. I am devastated and I cannot fathom what these families are feeling. sigh.
My favorite Celtics/Lakers game with Kobe was the one in 2001 or 2002 at Staples Center when Antoine Walker hit that crazy leaning bank shot 3 pointer, and then Kobe hit the game winner at the other end and the refs waved it off and the crowd went livid....i remember that just being an amazing game
I remember that game started late on the west coast, so it ended up finishing (in the spectacular fashion you described) at around 2:30AM Eastern. Underrated fun Celtic team that year (that would have made a better showing in the Finals vs the Lakers than the Nets did). And since this is about Kobe, as a Celtics fan I had to respect all the times he made me feel uncomfortable with the game on the line and the ball was in his hands, because odds were he was going to win it.
These two organizations battled wars for soo many years and the fact that the Celtics did this for him shows the class and the respect they had for one another. Thank you Boston, thank you mamba
I've been along time diehard Lakers fan since the 80's and eventhough I always hated the Celtics I always admired and respected at the same time feared Larry Legend during those days. Now I want to thank the whole Celtics organization and fans for showing respect and class to one of our most loved and greatest Laker of all time.
I know I’m late to this, but better late than never. Just wanted to say thank you to Boston for doing this for Kobe and Gigi and the others who died on that crash. I’m a die hard laker fan since I was a kid growing up in LA in the 80’s. I give my total respect to the Celtics organization and their fans for doing this for Kobe. You guys are a class act, and as long time and die hard Laker and Kobe fan, I appreciate it from the bottom of my heart. Thank you.
Kudos to my team for showing respect. As a Celtics fan, most of us hated Kobe, the basketball player, but always respected and appreciated the amazing talent and human that he truly was. You'll be missed Mamba!
The Celtics greatest rival but also greatest friend.. Boston always showing the greatest respect.. good to be a Bostonian when it comes to sports.. see you on the far side Kobe.. with your daughter.. thank you..
As a Lakers and Kobe fan, thank you Boston. Nothing but love and respect all the way from LA. This tragedy has our whole city under a dark cloud. Still cant believe it. Rest easy my idol.
This made me tear up. Not just because my favorite player of all time died (he came into the league when I was 12 and was rapidly becoming a diehard basketball fan, so we grew up together in a sense. My head knows he's not the GOAT but my purple and gold heart says he's the GOAT). This incredible gesture from the Celtics organization was truly moving and it reminds us that in basketball, you can only be great if you have great opponents. Lastly, this tribute is a reminder of how precious and tenuous life really is.
I was clapping as hard as I can here in the midst of my room while watching this unfold... giving silence... and praying for the souls who have passed. You'll be missed...
This is a deep lost I can't stop crying.. You can feel this loss in your heart. God bless all the families and give them your strength to move forward.. Life is so uncertain 😭😭😭😭
