  • Brent talks more about composting.
This is beneficial in 2 ways.
First- while this method of composting takes considerably more time, it's very easy. All we do is dump the wood chips in the coop run and the chickens pretty much do the rest. Once a year or so we scrape out the run and add it to the garden or store it with the other compost, then we start the process over again.
Second- The chickens love it, this gives them something to do through out the day. Chickens naturally like to scratch the ground so this keeps them very occupied and reduces the aggravation and fighting amongst the flock.

lol. If you go through some of the other chicken videos you’ll see that one of my favorite parts too.
That’s the best part about “chicken coop compost”- them and Mother Nature do all the work. This summer it was so hot and dry I added a mister system to the coops to cool the ladies down. So that did add some moisture to the compost but it wasn’t added for the compost.

Hello!👋🏻 We don’t on this coop. We built it before we started our UA-cam 😃
We have some on the turkey coop and the chicken tractor if that interests you.
We plan on building another coop soon and we will definitely film that.

Can I use goat manure as compost material sir? Manure and grass

Yes you can but manure and grass alone will not be very efficient.
You need to add a carbon material like wood chips or shavings.
The final mixture needs to be around 30 parts carbon to 1 part nitrogen.
