Have so enjoyed your channel! The Emma M. Lion series has definitely been a highlight for my reading year. I will start Vol. 6 soon, but have been making myself read other things between each one, to stretch out the joy a bit. Interested in reading The Q by Beth Brower as well. Take care and thanks for all the great content😊
Glad you enjoyed The Firebird -- loved that one, The Winter Sea was very good too - The Vanished Days is the 3rd one. I highly recommend all the other ones I've read by Susanna Kearsley - ESPECIALLY: The Rose Garden, Mariana and A Desperate Fortune ... so good! I recently purchased the Emma M Lions volumes - can't wait to read them! Hope the first days of school are going well for your son; here in Maine the kids don't return til last week of August or after Labor Day. happy reading!!
I have The Vanished Days on my shelf so I'll definitely be reading that one! Are you planning to join my readalong for Emma M. Lion? We will be starting Vol. 1 in January if you are interested and reading one volume a month. School is going great (other than the early mornings!) so far. Luckily he has the same teacher he had last year who we love! I still wish school started after Labor Day though...
@@jensreadinglife Hi Jen -- I would LOVE to join the readalong of the Emma M Lion books - will put them aside on my shelves - they look so colorful all together! can't wait to get into the series. THANK YOU!! I hope you will pick up any other Susanne Kearsley books you find out there. Looking forward to the next book haul. I do miss those first days of tje new school year, buying the supplies - No. 2 pencils!!!( 😅 ) my son & daughter are in their 20s now, so I've been out of that routine for sometime now. I can say that September is a great traveling month for my husband and I now - we typically travel to Bar Harbor for a week. 🙂
I am currently reading The Blue Bedroom after waiting for it from my library and LOVING it. Thanks for that recommendation, and now the other collection of short stories ❤
Marcia Willett books sound really interesting and my library has lots of them, so thanks for the new author to me suggestion. Loved reading My Brother Michael by Mary Stewart, Brotherless Night by V.V. GANESHANANTHAN, Tom Lake by Ann Patchett.
I hope you enjoy Marcia Willett! And you’ve reminded me I really want to listen to Tom Lake on audio before the summer is over so I need to prioritize that! 😊
Hi Jen, I just finished The White Witch by Elizabeth Goudge, which I’ve had on my shelf for years, and it was totally wonderful. It took place in 1634 England and had the English civil war in it. Just wonderful characters and beautiful descriptions, and a moving story as well. 😊😊😊❤❤❤
A recommendation for you. I heard about from a romance writer librarian in Ireland. The Clara Vale series by Fiona Veitch Smith. Historical mysteries set in the late 1920's. I've listened to two of the three books on audio via Libby (The Picture House Murders and The Pantomime Murders). Delightful!
Oh thats a pity about The Growing Summer. Its been on my TBR for a while and I have been looking forward to it but now I'll put it off for others on my list until later. I spent July reading Rumer Godden's 'China Court'. I enjoyed it! Have a lovely evening!💕
Thank you for reminding me that I want to give Susanna Kearsley a try! I've been wanting to read one of her books, but I always forget about them because I don't own any.
I’m feeling the same way about The Growing Summer. I’m 100 pages from the end and am just making myself read it. Maybe I’ll just DNF it. Thought maybe it would get better. Disappointing. Still loving Emma M. Lion though, I’m on book 7. I’ve been reading it on my Kindle Unlimited but need to finish it soon!
Hi Jen I was really looking forward to this video. I say yes to any Emma M Lion, read along etc, completely in love with it. I tried to read book 6 very very slowly so it would stay with me longer.😍
As I mentioned on your latest short, I read “Some Writer!: The Story of E. B. White” by Melissa Sweet. It’s beautifully designed and illustrated, and so charming. By the time I finished the book, I felt like I knew E. B. White. Thank you for such a wonderful recommendation.🕸🐭 Hey, Huey!😺
In July, I listened to the first two books in The Thursday Murder Club and loved them. I re-read Anne of Green Gables and loved it. I read my first annotated Jane Austen and it was Northanger Abbey. I didn’t remember much about the book from the first time I read it and really enjoyed it and the annotations. I finally got caught up on Inspector Gamache. I think book 18 was my least favorite in the series. Lastly, I am almost done with The Murder of Mr. Wickham. I like it but am also not sure if I will continue with the series. I want to keep reading Emma M. Lion next month. I have only read the first so far.
I agree about Rosamunde Pilcher but I will still read everything she ever wrote🙂. Finished Some Writer,(juvenile edition) now o to adult version, which seems to be the same; thought it might be different, more.. Also reading g Understood Betsy by D. Can field and enjoying it.
Oh I will still read everything by Pilcher too! I just want MORE from her shorter novels! 😂 I’m glad you are enjoying Understood Betsy - I’m hoping to get to it soon!
I am raising my hand so I can be picked to take part in an Emma M. Lion readalong next year ✋🙋♀🙂
Yay Shelli! Sounds like there’s some interest so I’m definitely going to set it up. 😊
Yay Shelli!!
@@elizabethbrink3761 is this the author you met?
The Murder of Mr Wickham is my favorite in the series. Thanks for sharing your July reading!
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching. 😊
I'm so glad The Firebird redeemed Kearsley a bit :) And I would be interested in an Emma M Lion readalong!
Thanks for picking it - I really enjoyed it. 😊 I’m definitely doing an Emma readalong so stay tuned!

I’ve been stretching them out too! But I definitely think I want to reread them before Vol. 8 comes out!
Yes, do a dedicated Emma M Lion video!! And do a readalong! 🤣
I’m going to!!!! 😁🤗

Count me in on an Emma M. Lyon read along. A volume every month would be super!

I need to read China Court, it’s been on my shelves for too long! The Growing Summer was so disappointing…I had such high hopes for it! 😞

'Yes' to the Emma M. Lion readalong for 2025! 🙂
Yay! It’s definitely going to happen! 🤗
Thank you for reminding me that I want to give Susanna Kearsley a try! I've been wanting to read one of her books, but I always forget about them because I don't own any.
There are so many authors I feel that same way about! It’s hard to remember them all! 😂

Slow reading month for July, but continue reading and enjoying The Shell Seekers. Yet for this month, I am definitely reading a Marcia Willett book. 🙂

I really enjoyed Rachel Rhys’ first book Dangerous Crossing. And was disappointed with the one you read.
Maybe I should give that one a try!
