Gain Ground is one of those underappreciated classics, i think it's most recent depiction besides being able to be played on the Switch was a version of this song in the mega crossover game from the 3ds Project X Zone
Anyone else have that one plug n’ play genesis with 6 games on it, including Gain Ground? (The Full list of games was Gain Ground, Sonic 2, Ecco, Collumns, The Ooze, and Alex Kidd)
I've only played the original Gain Ground, AND I've remixed the Awaken theme before, but this is my first time listening to this. Holy shit. This is without a doubt the definitive version of this theme. God damn this takes the "epic" from the original and ascends it beyond the heavens.
@@braystar8578, primitive force starts slow and then remix with other styles of music, serves well as a memory lane for the game, but is like just the other soundtracks in the Game , bare bones from the originals,Awaken is the high pitch version, was converted while retaining the original tunes, the 3ds don't have any issues to play the track itself. but when comes to music, everyone have their own favorites and there can't be arguing.
The PC Engine Super CD-ROM rendition is just incredible (my heart beats listening to it) but this PS2 rendition is just fucking awesome and even better. In fact, it puts all other versions of that song to shame. My jaw drops in utter amazement whenever I listen to this version. I have yet to play Gain Ground though.
Thank you very much for uploading this. I have been eager to hear it ever since I read about it on Zargon's video description of the original. Great song.
While it's probably way too late for me to say this, I think the main issue with remaking Gain Ground would be translating the concept of an "algorithm action game" into a novel 3D experience unique from the original version.
1 of my all-time favorite arcade games back in the day & 1 of the most epic most badass gaming music ever :) God I really wish that Sega had released the Sega Ages edition of Gain Ground and also Dragon Force here in The USA :(
@gabxXx1994 I have always thought the first stage of Gain Ground sounded a lot like the famous (by video game music standards) Dr. Wily stage 1-2 from Mega Man II. IIRC Gain Ground came out for the arcade before Mega Man II. The "general" from Gain Ground also looks a lot like M. Bison from Street Fighter II, another game that came out after GG.
I accidentally deleted your comment from the previous video and I apologize. I also thank you for commenting. The modern times remake wasn't that good, but the extra stage version sounds better even though it sounds nothing like the original source. I also like what they have done with the first stage's music. Your input on the whole collection is welcomed.
Thats what I get fed up with hardcore fans are so far up their own ass that they are unwilling to accept anything new and they are so fucking cynical its painful. A remake of something comes out and its automatically branded as the worst "insert wording of shit here EVOR!" nonsense. I've given up on expecting something good out of a remake or near anything for that matter so instead I settle to be entertained and a level enjoyment and if those two items are achieved then mission accomplished.

Segarock version is way better.
Such a shame, this remix isn't on project X zone, AWAKEN is so much better than primitive force.
@@rohgadriscol Sounds like the same track to me

This music is really nostalgic. My brother and I nearly finished this game several times.

I don't understand what the fuck is going on with the time signature in this version. But I LIKE it.
This reminds me a Dragon Ball Z Ranging Blast soundtrack.
