    Watched this video and decided to make a wedding set as a gift for my niece. Bought the elk antler at a pet shop. Do not have a dremel but used a dremel grinding bit in my drill and they came out beautiful. Changed your method slightly but it was a lot of fun. Hopefully her and her fiance like wearing them as much as I liked making them. Going to try the inlay next. You do great work and I appreciate the videos.

    I’ve noticed when I inlay copper wire into my antler rings, the expansion and contraction of the antler ring itself ends up popping out the inlay. Have you noticed this in your rings, and any tips to avoid it?

    • @simonefuller421
      @simonefuller421 3 роки тому

      I was wondering if you could use wire. Would be less messy than the powder and more likely to be hanging around the shed. Have you tried melting with a soldering iron?

    • @Anothermachine
      @Anothermachine 2 роки тому +1

      Im unsure of the process you use for wire inlay but typically the best results are by using an engraver chisel to undercut your groove thus making the bottom of the groove to be inlayed wider than the top. Then use a small hammer to gently pound the inlay metal into the groove which smooshes the metal outward into the bottom of the groove. It makes a keystone effect which locks it in. Then sand off the excess metal and polish it. You can probably make the chisel yourself if your are handy enough to craft rings from antler. This is the technique jewelers and engravers use to inlay metal. Hope that helps and best of luck...I plan on giving it a try in the very near future.
