I am an introverted but being around people drains me and I need time to myself, we don't tend to like making small talk and prefer in depth conversations, we are friendly...but much prefer 1-2-1 than crowds☺️

You don’t need highlights, your hair is perfect. You have natural highlights that give your hair depth and sparkle. I would give anything to have your hair color.

I would have thought Courtney was 5'6". She just seems taller than 5'1"! LOL Also, I'm in total agreement about not dying hair. Growing out my silver now and wishing I had never dyed it. It's so nice to see healthy hair for the first time in over 30 years!

The secret introvert hit me!! People usually don't believe me that I'm an introvert, just because I talk a lot!
People think that if you're an introvert, then you must hate people, and you're all shy and quiet, and the truth is not like that!! Like, I avoid reunions or things like that, specially if it's with people that I don't know, or if it's a situation that I won't be able to leave whenever I get tired

This past summer we found out my 6 soon to be 7 year old son is dyslexic. I always knew I had problems with reading/writing/spelling. It wasn't until he got diagnosed that we realized I also am. I never thought of audio books. We are still learning so much. Thank you for that!

I live in Lubbock, TX and was excited to hear that I’m not the only one who hides in their house to avoid the wind! I’ve really struggled w/the desire to wash my hair each day bc of the wind/dust storms, yet not wanting to dry my hair out from washing too frequently. I used to be a swimmer, so the dust wasn’t an issue since I needed to wash daily anyway. Now that I don’t swim for hours each day, I struggle with feeling like my hair is always dirty despite rinsing it daily. I’d like to get to the point where I can put a shower cap on and preserve my hair for a couple days, but I’m not there yet. I really dislike West Texas wind 💨

I love audiobooks too! I don’t have dyslexia but I do have ADHD and have lots of trouble with the amount of time it takes me to read.
Also your hair has GORGEOUS natural highlights!!!!!!! Omgsh if I had the skin tone for it and didn’t care about chemical damage I would totally color it with your hair as my inspo pic LOL!!!!! But I’m currently working on embracing the natural greys I have. Everyone compliments me on my greys specifically, but I haven’t quite come to love the texture and frizz they create yet. But I’m working on it!

I think we tend to get so obsessed with caring for our hair that we neglect our scalp. This is what I’m seeing a lot of lately in the curly world. We tend to sacrifice the health of our scalp for the curly girl method. Where we are seeing so many peeps now doing the curly girl method and developing build up from sebum, oil, and product on the hair and developing scalp issues, allergies, seboric dermatitis, hair loss, dandruff, etc and their scalps is giving symptoms something’s wrong, we tend to ignore the signals and continue to focus on our hair over our scalp. So many are so afraid to put a treatment on their scalp recommended by their dermatologist to help heal the scalp, all because they are afraid it’s “bad” for their hair. I’m so sorry, but at this point, your scalp is far more important than your hair. Your scalp is part of your skin and supports growing your hair out of your head, while hair is basically after a few inches a dead follicle growing out of your head. You can always chop off your hair if it’s damaged and grow it back but you can’t replace your scalp. So what matters more? Peeps, let’s get our priorities straight and start putting the health of our scalps first .

I have a question! I want to straighten my hair for valentines day and i have not straightened it since going to CG. What is the best way to straighten it safely? I know you said you don't straightening your hair but i know your sister straightens her hair once in awhile so I thought you may be able to still help.
Also, I appreciate your videos even though we don't have the same hair type because they are so informative. Thank you!

I know this question was meant for Courtney but thought I’d put in my 2 cents in.
Whatever you do, use a heat protectant. After applying the heat protectant, dry your hair naturally or use a blow dryer without a diffuser to dry it but not too close to your head. Just run your hands through it, to straighten as much as possible. You didn’t say your curl type so I don’t know if this will work for you. You can use a brush to blow dry if it doesn’t. You can add the protectant before you iron if you let your hair air dry. Once it is completely dry (very important because a hot iron on wet or damp hurt causes damage), use a flat iron. I do the chase method (used to anyway before I decided to go back to my curls) which is running a brush through your hair followed by the iron “chasing” it and don’t do it too slowly. The brush and the iron should have no space between them. Doing it that way keeps the hair straight while the iron is going over the area so you don’t need to do the same part a bunch of times or linger on any section. I use a double brush, that is like tongs but with bristles and it’s easier but you can do it with a regular brush. They have a Diane brand on Amazon and it’s about $7 but you could probably find one at Sally’s. I also use oil as a finishing product to stop it from curling or frizzing. There are a bunch of good ones but my favorite is Verb Ghost Oil.
      Hope that helps!

The older I get, the better it gets. As weird as it sounds, I realized that I don't really matter all that much. That took a lot of pressure off and allowed me to just be me, in all my goofy ways!
