Yeah it is truly wonderful... you know they have played for years when that is the level of musicianship. They're telling the Passacaglia "story" together as if *one* narrator :)
This is one of my favorite pieces to listen to, as well as to play, and this particular performance is the best ever! I think I have it on about 5 different VHS tapes, from when it was first aired on TV :-) Truly goes down in history!
Goose bumps. I love the smirks coming from the orchestra behind them..the orchestra was really impressed and they know. It was also wonderful to see Itzhak's expressions near the beginning and the end...he is really enjoying himself and is so at ease with this material. Probably Perlman and Zukerman both near the apex of their careers, just wow.
I'm not even sure how it's possible to "dislike" this song. It's truly amazing to watch both of them play it. They make it look SO easy and effortless. And by having played this piece myself before, I know first hand that it is NOT easy!
at 3:10 and 5:20 it sounds like an entire orchestra. They are the most flawless players ever! When you're that good it looks so effortless, but yet the sound coming out is so passionate and inspiring...
Great performance. I love the recording of this from the Israeli orchestra 60th anniversary gala concert. This piece is a lot of fun, I'm working on the viola part right now. It's a great way to work on staccato and finger work in general.
I didn't realize there was a false ending until I listened to this recording, my violin buddy and I just barreled through. This really set me straight.
Great one I´m just trying to play it with my viola teacher at the moment it´s just great and has such a full, loud and just great viola sound, aaaaaaaaaaahhhh;D Just a great piece, played brilliantly by the two guys Perlman and Zukerman, who are really "playing" with this great piece of music! Very much thanks for uploading this video!!!
Perlman and Zimmerman both blew me when I heard their passacaglias, and I really can't decide which I like better, without hearing perlman play it with a cello and Zimmerman playing it with a viola :)
No bullshit, I had this years superbowl party with Pinchas and his wife, just them, me and my parents. They're old family friends. If you want, I can upload a video of me playing the Telemann double viola concerto with him during the 4th quarter.
It is called ricochet, in which you bounce the bow across the string in one direction, therefore making a spicatto sound. It is used in Mendelssohn Violin Concerto and Bazzini's La Ronde de Lutin
@Flaminggential when you are playing on an open string, you con vibrate the note one octave above and it will sound like you're vibrating the open string.
@MrJYTK du pre refers to Jacquelin du Pre arguably the greatest cellist of the 20th century and recorded what is considered the definitive version of the Elgar Cello Concerto. Unfortunately she had multiple sclerosis and died at an early age.
I have noticed some do, but you have to remember a few things 1)they're old 2) Many of them don't use shoulder rests. They sound good and don't seem to get injured so whatever works Anyway, Heifetz had perfect posture and a lot of great violinists don't have bad posture. I wouldn't recommend you emulate anything hunched over...
These guys make a violin and a viola fill up a concert hall as if they were a whole orchestra. What talent!
Is it just me, or is their synchronization at 6:04 heart stopping.
Yeah it is truly wonderful... you know they have played for years when that is the level of musicianship. They're telling the Passacaglia "story" together as if *one* narrator :)
very bold and loud indeed!
Am I the only one to think that Zukermann is sounding like a beautiful cello?
Anyway, excellent performance! They are truly the greatest of greatest!
I think more like a beatiful viola than like a beatufil cello but anyway very good performance
Lmfaoooo who is zuckermann?? 😂😂
@@EraLily ur joking right? ahah
Zukerman is a true genius on the viola. It is always touching how he plays the viola
@@franciscomachado7921 i think she's just picking on the extra "N" written there
love this so much! My favourite composition of all time and even better with the greatest players in history!
4:08 sounds incredibly pleasant, listening with headphones. Especially the viola.
I am convinced that it is by far the best of perlman's performances.
Also Zuckerman’s in my opinion

It's very entertaining to listen to - Itzhak Perlman and Pinkas Zukerman are great!
Fantastic performance. There's a touching pathos in Perlman's playing.
no one plays the passacaglia like these two.... just flawless every single time i see them do this... from 1983 all the way to now
Incredibly beautiful!
Great performance. I love the recording of this from the Israeli orchestra 60th anniversary gala concert.
This piece is a lot of fun, I'm working on the viola part right now. It's a great way to work on staccato and finger work in general.
"a style that has the power to evoke feelings". Fancy words are worth looking up!
What a wonderful performance!
Absolute classic! It's a beutiful world we live in. Thank you!
1:52-2:03
Relaxed, confident, emotionless face, but emotional playing...annnnnd...page turn.
so good. just so good.
His Sound is beautiful!!!!!! Magnificent technique!
@MrCelloman5
Thanks so much. I think I found it. It was played at the Huberman Festival in 1983.
Amazing 🌹. Maestro Ithzak Perlman and E Zukerman... Maestro Ithzak Perlman is together my favorite violinist 🎻 ♥️
One of my favorite songs from all time!!
I didn't realize there was a false ending until I listened to this recording, my violin buddy and I just barreled through. This really set me straight.
This is my favorite interpretation, love the soft improvs

Love the contrast right at the end at 6:05. So little, but so pleasing to hear
Two legendary masters
Luck luck luck luck....what beautiful luck to have found this piece today.
Dude! Wow! My friend and I should learn this piece
A melancholy piece, yet so touching.
A treasure to be found in UA-cam!
Harmony is very well played!
This is a masterpiece. Thank you so much
what? this is the best violinist in the whole world, no lie.

The Julliard School?
Perlman teaches there on Saturdays.
I'm currently in Zukerman's old high school! Which is across the street.

Que hermoso!!!!!
My Favorite music piece heaver: P The best duo Performas heaver!!!

Absolutely beautiful!
This is fucking REAL MUSIC..!!!

loved it, absolutely astonishing
Love to hear drums at 5:38 you realize their mastery when you hear Zukerman’s fourth finger as it’s own percussion
The reason this viola playing is so good is that Pinky is really a violinist! :P
Just came here after watching their performance of the same piece in 2017 and 1997.
Then you should see the one in 1978
the same
coming back after 11 years :D
Superlativo ASSOLUTO
This Passacaglia is an arrangement of Handel's Harpsichord Suite in G minor, HWV 432.
my goodness... perhaps the best ever
Thx Johan Halvorsen, great work
He only did the adaptation.
Ой, как классно)
Классно, да! 😊
Невероятно! Maestras! ❤❤
wonderful...
Maravilloso....
I wish someone with a tardis could have picked up Händel and taken him to one of the epic performances of Perlman and Zukerman! This is punkrock!
Zuckerman - long time advocate for the performance of baroque music on period instruments
This is amazing :)
Que manera de tocar son unicos
Immaculate!
amazing!

@ragnaroz97 sounds like a beautiful viola. :)
@hflvx not sure, but I know that it was part of a string of performances held in Jeruselum during a music festival of some kind. Hope that helps!
@122chucknorris Please upload that! Thank you.
this is brilliant! alexander markov and his dad also play this piece
