There are a LOT of jokes in that film that only make sense if you watched the Kevin Costner film first. It's still middling-quality Mel Brooks, but its at least better if you know the film its lampooning.
Dracula, dead and loving it was ok, but have to admit was one of his weaker parody movies. Again, not bad, but his others like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were so much better. Instead, would recommend Robin Hood, Men in Tights.
"Don't know any of these names" 1) Madeline Khan-extremely funny comedic actress. Can only agree. An amazing bunch of actors in this one. Try to get hold of some outtakes and bloopers too. The cast really had a hard time keeping it together in some scenes.
YES!!!!
Hopefully she will see it, we need some Mel Brooks right now.
5:14 ah yes Gregory Hines. One of the most talented dancers. Loved him in the movie White Nights with Mikhail Baryshnikov.
You'll like Young Frankenstein. The are many memorable lines.
Ashleigh, you have accomplished what I previously thought was impossible: you’ve made me look forward to Monday mornings. Oh, what sorcery have you wrought? 😹
The Jesus “what, what” scene still cracks me up no matter how many times I watch it
Men in Tights!
"Unlike some other Robin Hoods, I speak with an English accent."
There are a LOT of jokes in that film that only make sense if you watched the Kevin Costner film first. It's still middling-quality Mel Brooks, but its at least better if you know the film its lampooning.
@@trekkiejunk As most spoofs really
Spooky season: Comedy! Tucker and Dale vs Evil.
Officer, we have had one DOOZY of a day!
Yes! While the film is not as old as what she is looking for, the film is a hidden gem.
Also Army of Darkness
@@russrollins9978 Hail to the KING, baby!
THEY just announced a PART 2 on HULU! :D
Beat me this! Ps there’s a trailer now!!!
I am so ready for part 2 of this movie to come out!
There is no part 2 of History Of The World. It was either a joke or it was cancelled due to the poor box office reception.
HAHAHAAH
Running Joke at the end of Every Mel Brooks movie
Though I want Spaceballs 3: The Search for Spaceballs 2: The Search for More Money more.
Mel's still with us, there's still hope!
Robin Hood: Men in Tights, Young Frankenstein, and High Anxiety are great Mel Brooks movies you haven't seen yet.
People always forget High Anxiety, but it’s amazing. So glad to see it on your list.
Young Frankenstein can be in your spooky season lineup for next month to continue the Mel brooks catalog.
@@ShadowBoxer1111 oh man I haven't seen that in 25 years but I still say "I beep! I beep!" around security metal detectors.
"Dracula: Dead and Loving it" also fits in that category from Mr. Mel Brooks.
MrMillertime289 It has the added benefit of Leslie Nielsen.
You should watch "Dracula: Dead and Loving It".
Completely agree
Dracula, dead and loving it was ok, but have to admit was one of his weaker parody movies. Again, not bad, but his others like Blazing Saddles and Young Frankenstein were so much better.
Instead, would recommend Robin Hood, Men in Tights.
I really hope she does. That’s my favorite Mel Brooks movie
LOVE that one.
"Don't know any of these names"
1) Madeline Khan-extremely funny comedic actress. She would channel Marlene Detrich sometimes and it was hilarious.
2) Harvey Korman-appeared in a bunch of films but best known for being Tim Conway's comic foil on The Carol Burnett Show. Tim and Harvey would succeed in cracking each other up during skits, but Harvey would just fall out when Tim was on a roll. The best of:Google Tim Conway Elephant Story blooper. Tim destroys the entire cast. He's on a roll and the the cast has tears streaming down their cheeks because they're fighting the urge to laugh hysterically.
I loved The Carol Burnett Show
Tom Conway Dentist. Corman was stuck in the dentist chair as Tom did everything to make him laugh.
The two best were the elephant story and the dentist skit.
Also Kahn and Korman were in BLAZING SADDLES which she just saw.
Older Mel Brooks movies sourced the same acting talent. Not always possible in his newer movies.
You don't have to stop for spooky season: Young Frankenstein!
After spooky season: Clue! :)
I think she'd love Clue, but I think she should finish off Mel Brooks with Robin Hood: Men in Tights.
Clue is soo good 👍
Fun fact...Leonaro DaVinci was played by comedian Art Metrano, who was also in Police Academy movies 2 and 3 as Mauser.
You can watch Mel Brooks “young Frankenstein” for spooky season.
She said she is. No need to sell it any further.
The Producers. the original version with Zero Mostel (whom you have never heard of because he was blacklisted) and Gene Wilder in his first major movie role.
Both versions are hilarious.
@@marshsundeen Nooooooooo. The remake is a sad shadow of a truly great original. (The Producers is absolutely worth watching though I'd recomment it to anyone..)
Gene Wilder is awesome in this film.
Hey, weren't you on the Donna Reed Show? :-)
@@ericjahoda2997 Unfortunately no, I'm about the same age as him, but he spells his last name Petersen.
Seeing Dom DeLouise reminds me of the classic comedy films, "Canonball Run".
I am in it. Remember the scene where Dom lands a small plane in order to make a beer run? When the plane takes off, I am crossing the street right in front of it. (I am NOT a stunt man!) And for real, I see an old African Lady also trying to cross the street. I know she won't make it and might get killed so I kinda grab her and pick her up to get across safely. She thanked me profusely for my Boy Scout Good Deed for the Day. Her name? Butterfly McQueen. She passed away not long after.
I like his movie "Fatso". I remember seeing him in "Fail Safe" his part is small and it's the only dramatic part he played and pretty sure his first film role. Came out in '64.
The Evil Dead, The Evil Dead II: Dead by Dawn, Army of Darkness (Evil Dead 3)
VoidOfBeeswax Sean of the Dead
Young Frankenstein is not only a great comedy but also a very well-made film. You should watch it at some point if only on your free time. Looking forward to watching The Shining and The Exorcist with you.
High Anxiety is one of my all time favorite Mel Brooks movies. So great
If you don't get to it before, Young Frankenstein would be great for October.
Start Spooky Season with a smooth transition, kick off with Mel Brooks' Young Frankenstein.
That last supper scene was just golden. It doesn't matter how much I've seen it.
😂🤣
Gotta see the hilarious spoof movie “Airplane!”
Airplane, Airplane II, Naked Gun series, Hot Shots 1&2, Robin Hood: men in tights, Top Secret
Fzoid
Also:
Amazon women on the moon
the Kentucky fried movie
Fatal Instinct
Loaded weapon
Yall know I'm gonna keep suggesting The Blues Brothers (1980) until you watch it, right?
Mackenzie Teague Yes
It's coming! :)
@@awkwardashleigh Thank God! It's one of the best ever!!!
Excellent decision!!!! Try to find the directors cut!
@@awkwardashleigh I keep on forgetting to mention that the Directors cut is much better than the original
BTW - Young Frankenstein is glorious.
“Nice Knockers!”
“Well, thank you Dr. Frankenstein.”
Mel Brooks " High Anxiety" Cloris Leachman as Nurse Diesel. Hilarious !
High Anxiety is one of the best ever.
No fruit cup!!!!!
@@dougbradley778 It is but will she get it without having seen (assuming she hasn't) Vertigo, The Birds, Psycho, etc.?
@@neonpark1874 You're right ! She probably hasn't seen any Hitchcock. When i went to see it i had seen the birds but i don't think i had seen any other Hitchcock flicks. I knew about the shower scene though.
“Spooky season”
Mel Brooks
Young Frankenstein!!!
10:57 "Why is this happing?"
Didn't expect the Spanish Inquisition, did you?
But of course... NO ONE EXPECTS THE SPANISH INQUISITION!
Well then, Young Frankenstein HAS to be next for the Spooky Season Kick-Off!
"They Live" starring Rowdy Roddy Piper for Spooky Season!
I'm here to kickass and chew bubblegum. And I'm all out of bubblegum.
Ty. I must check this out!!!
"The streets are crawling with soldiers"
See "Comb the desert" in Spaceballs :D
The original "the producers" was mel Brooks first big hit, decades later he made it a hit Broadway musical, and there is also a film adaptation of the musical, but I think the original is better, also if you're ever allowed to go out and do things again, seeing the musical live is worth it.
The Producers is for my money Gene Wilders funniest role
I'm pretty sure *everyone* agrees the original movie is better. The film adaptation of the musical is... not good. (Although the musical itself IS good, if you see it on stage.)
It was a play, got made into a movie based on the play. Then got made into a play based on a movie based on a play, then got made into a movie based on play based on a movie based on a movie based on a play. Think I got it right.
@@brianjohnson3795 that's like street fighter the movie the game
Jason Blalock I can name at least one person who disagrees with you
The perfect Mel Brooks / Spooky Season crossover is Young Frankensein.
I love your reactions 🤣 😂
The person playing the main caveman in the opening sequence was Sid Caesar. Mel Brooks was a writer on his TV show in the early 50s. Your Show of Shows was a weekly 90 minute skit comedy program that set the standard for all future television comedy.
And he was even funnier in It's Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad World.
Sid Caesar was supposed to be the next 'Three Stooge'
Spooky Season: American Werewolf in London and or Shaun of the Dead
along with John Carpenter's The Thing and the original Alien (which helps explain that gag from the diner in Spaceballs).
American Werewolf is great.
Go to the Winchester, have a pint, and wait for this whole thing to blow over!
@@paullimperis7241 You've got red on you.
Ngl, I actually ended up with nightmares from the zombies in that
“It’s good to be the King.” CLEARLY!!
Spooky October...you need to watch Young Frankenstein! Definitely a good Mel Brooks movie.
I was in a restaurant reading a menu and started crying from laughter because I was realizing that "bearnaise " was a sauce.
For spooky try Young Frankenstein and The Ghost and Mr. Chicken.
I love the French Revolution part
Watch Mel Brook's "Robin Hood: Men in Tights." You will hear the line, "It's good to be the king", one more time. Other favorites are, "Young Frankenstein", "High Anxiety", "Silent Movie", "Dracula: Dead and Loving It." ✌❤🌹
Trivia: Danny Glover uses the line "Everything's so....GREEN" in the movie 'Death at a Funeral' when his character accidentally takes exctasy (sp?) and climbs on the roof naked.

Yeah, an American remake in 2010.
Fun fact, Peter Dinkage is in both versions.
A lot of classic Vaudeville efforts from Mel Brooks. Stuff he grew up with. His comfort zone. The Spanish Inquisition musical is priceless.
Sorry, vaudeville was pretty much over by the time he was old enough to watch it. All this stuff is paradies of old movies. And Borscht Belt stand up comedy. He's constantly referencing old movie actor and movies.
Spent a good chunk of the day watching ALL of your reviews and I haven't been this entertained in a LONG time. I hope you keep doing these because you are great at this! Thoroughly enjoyed your opinions, reactions, laughter and keen eye for the best bits. We may be years apart (me - 62), but we def have the same sense of humor. : )
Young Frankenstein is a solid spooky comedy choice
Ashleigh Young Frankenstein is perfect for spooky season. Look forward to you seeing Frau Blucher and her effect on certain animals.
"Is that Madonna?"
*cringe*
The late, great Madeline Khan! 💓🧡💛💚💙💜
And she was also in Blazing Saddles. When she said I don't know any names in this film just as her name came up, I was thinking didn't you just watch blazing saddles.
I love her to pieces.
OCTOBER: Young Frankenstein, Ghostbusters, Beetlejuice, The Addams Family & Hocus Pocus
Definitely Hocus Pocus,
Young Frankenstein, Ghostbusters, and the original Halloween with Silver Bullet
Ah yes I forgot I wanted to member Addams Family.
The witches
For “Spooky Season” you should watch Mel Brooks’ Young Frankenstein.
Ashleigh,
You mentioned that Mel is a Jew. In Blazing Saddles when he is the Indian chief the speaks Yiddish. Rewatch it and see if you catch it. O.K. lady here we GO! I so enjoy your channel............. Thank YOU
