Sounds delicious. Like Dustin, I don't take chances with Irish whisky, only because I don't have a lot of experience. I've had 4 RB expressions and liked them all. A couple Spots and so far so good. Glad to know the new packaging has not suffered. I find that the nose is most often better than the palate to me. Great review.
I feel like Redbreast 21 is the gold standard for the Redbreast lineup. The 27 is amazing in its own right, but at nearly twice the price, I'd rather just have two bottles of 21. Fantastic pour.
Lucky for me I scored an incredible deal on this stuff a few years back (under $200 Canadian all in) and stocked up, also stocked up on the Irishman 17 (even cheaper) , both are incredible, Those deals are long gone, did a back to back and the Redbreast has the slightly better nose but the Irishman wins on the palette possibly because of the much higher abv. I've got both bottles open and nearby for the holidays and they can actually compete with any scotch, amazing stuff, liquid Christmas Cake (homemade dark) in a glencairn. Merry Christmas
great review, this is a great whisky. As recently as 3 years ago was getting this in alberta for around 135usd. Its still priced pretty good compared to scotch of comparable quality. Cheers
A few years ago, I had a Redbreast 12 and it was pretty good. Recently, I picked up another bottle and it was super disappointing. I have not touched the bottle after a few nights. I wonder if all Redbreast variations have such huge differences from one year to another.
I've had some pretty bad batches of the 12 CS, but regular products I haven't heard of that much batch variation. One thing to wonder about though....sometimes it's the whisky. Sometimes it's us just changing what we expect.
Thanks again for an excellent review guys. I purchased my bottle of the new Redbreast 21 over Thanksgiving. I managed to find it for $300. I can't wait to open it. I haven't had the 21 before. Cheers, and happy holidays and New Year! Unrelated to Redbreast. Have you guys managed to get your hands on the 2022 Springbank 25 yr yet? I just bought it yesterday. It's the first time I've ever seen one. So I bought it in a heartbeat...lol (reasonable price). It's apparently 60/40 between sherry and bourbon. I couldn't wait, so I poured a little dram last night along with the incredible 2021 18 yr. So from the neck pour, it seems like it will be an amped up version of the delicious 2021 18 yr. I can't wait to see how this 25 opens up. I hope that you guys get to try it too.
This is a beautiful nosing whiskey and it will be from the first pour. Hope you enjoy it. Yes, we have the new SB 25 (2022). Review is done and scheduled for nyd
@@topshelfwhisky fantastic, I can't wait to open that Redbreast 21! I'll probably crack it open for New Years. Is it good enough to wear as cologne then? 😅 Awesome, I'm glad to hear that you guys managed to get this year's SB 25. I'll keep an eye out on nyd for that review. You and Dustin will be starting off the new year with an epic whisky review!! 👍🥃🎊
@@topshelfwhisky Oh wow, 400 reviews already!! Congratulations on the milestone. 👏🥳 Thank you for everything you and Dustin do for the whisky community. I greatly appreciate your insight, knowledge and passion. It has definitely helped me make smart purchases and happier malt moments. Cheers to another new year to your channel! 🥃
Hey guys great review! Any idea what year this one was bottled? I know it's 2019-2022..I have a 2019 so im curious..great review as always. Happy holidays 🥃
I can't find anything hard, but given they don't state it's natural color, I suppose we have to assume the 21 could have some. Certainly seems unneeded given the age and use of quality sherry casks, but the 12 CS I believe is the only one that clearly states natural color.
‘This smell makes me happy’ - what a great statement. Makes me want to run to the shop right now and try this!
Sometimes you can talk and talk about notes....but that's what matters!

Sounds fantastic. Lots of people talk up the 27 year and that's $500 around here. Glad you are both loving this one.
I've had all 3 batches of the 27. It's just not worth chasing.
The 27 is a good whisky but this is value for the money.
I love RB21, sometimes EUR125,- in Germany, happy holidays !
Yeah, I've heard/seen those for that. I never seem to find those deals. 220 was worth it here though.
That’s a great price, cheers from America!
Awesome whisky, guys! When I had the opportunity to obtain this bottle I jumped n it. Given the opportunity again, I will probably jump again...
Very enjoyable and extremely approachable. Awful lot to like.
Hometown boys from Grove City. Love the reviews ... keep up the good work.

Great review once again, guys. This was one of the first premium bottles I tried and I still remember it fondly.

Nice packaging, I am on a 3rd bottle over the years and they all came in a cardboard box same as the standard 12. Excellent whiskey for sure.
word is they are dropping that box, but it's a nice one. Partial wood, partial cardboard. Looks nice and likely wasn't too too expensive.
Good on you Dustin, we all know the Potstill you where referencing, happy holidays to you & Mike:)
Happy holidays James, cheers.

Yea in IL its close to 400 after tax. Bought my last bottle at 240, awesome bottle at that price.

Great review. In terms of price, can you get Kavalan’s that are better than this or no?
You can find single casks (store picks) for less, but those are such different experiences. The standard offerings from kavalan are 400+ however.

L2118531478 so I have to assume it's 2021 but somewhat guessing.
@TopShelf Dustin sorry..I was wrong with my previous comment..thats a 2022..the 2021 has code starting with L1
Thanks so much for the info!
