Hiiee back! I will do a video on this to! But like most everything else… it depends! Usually yes! As Long as you can show you have worked through the trauma… usually they have you write about it in your home study. But I will do a video on this for you too in a week or so!
I'm glad someone is addressing the issue with foster care,and child protective services. so many foster homes are only in it for the money,and don't care about the innocent children. my sister,dharma,yes,like the old show,dharma and Greg,is a foster parent.animals and children. specializing in the unadoptable. deformaties,behavior issues,etc.she takes the ones nobody wants. and has the means to do so. her husband is in cyber security/ personal security. teaches self defense.
My husband and I are dual, we're starting the process to become foster parents at the end of his current deployment. At that time we will have a couple of years with neither of us deploying, and we are stabilized 5 more years in the same city.
I will be taking my god sister and becoming her legal guardian. How would it work in the state is paying me to care for her and my husband in the service ? Will she need to be on his page 2 ? We are moving to Hawaii as well.
It’s different in every state and county! So my best advice is to call your local department of social services/ child protective services and ask. In my county, kinship doesn’t get the same stipend that licensed foster parents do, but they may provide some other services to help like potentially WIC, Medicaid etc. but they do not give a stipend itself if that makes sense. And it’s going to be different everywhere, so reach out to them and they will have social workers who can talk you through it all for your particular area!

Don’t do that to kids who already have trauma and need stability.
