My mind was blown when I saw an ACURA, ACURA(!!!) MDX Type-S going for $75k msrp. Even the Honda Civic Type-R is $46k new. Now that I'm comfortable with buying cars that used to be $23k new, they've blown the roof off and I'm back where I started. It's a depreciating asset that we own for convenience. It's insane.

I had a ford dealer sell me a used F250 that had just came in. They said they would go over the entire vehicle and make sure it was 100 percent. When I picked it up later, they said “oh, by the way, the electronic folding mirror on the passenger side needs to be replaced at a cost of $1,700. “. I told them the deal was off. The salesman asked if I was actually willing to walk away over $1,700. I said “are you!?” I told him to rip up the contract and give me back my trade. They paid to replace the mirror. You HAVE to be willing to walk away if you are getting played.

I bought a new 1979 F150 for $6500 in Oct of 1979. It listed for $8100. It was basic but it was a beautiful short bed with the 351 V8 and automatic trans. Eventually I lifted it a little and put on 33" tires with nice aluminum wheels. Now it was really beautiful. In comparison I looked up all the F150s in my area for the cheapest ones. The cheapest I could find was $47,225 list or $42,725 after some incentives. If I run $6500 through an inflation calculator it would be equivalent to $28,072 today.

Months? Try years. These guys have been shouting about the imminent collapse of stalantis for the last 2 years at least. They've been saying wait to buy, wait to buy, prices will come down. Well, prices haven't come down in any significant degree. Why? Because Americans are willing to purchase very expensive vehicles on credit. As long as they can make the monthly payment, that's all they really care about. Sometimes, they don't even care if they can make the monthly payment. The fact of the matter is, these auto companies are seeing record profits year after year so they're not going to change anything.

In 20 years the frames are rusted out on my full size trucks and the body has holes you can put your fist through. I drove a 2004 Malibu that has 278,000 miles on it. Many CDJR dealers have been in trouble for years, parts and repairs are still a problem, they get paid less than needed for all the recall and warranty work. I also think we are past peak for large pickup trucks in the USA, with many turning to small models or to SUV/CUV's as cheaper and more appropriate for their day to day needs. Also, the V-8 Hemis are gone so lose a lot of customers there.

People are broke and the economy is questionable. Banks are tightening up lending. Inflation and corporate greed have raised the prices on everything.
The consumers willing and able to pay inflated prices are dwindling.
In the face of this, Stellanis’s current business model seems to be “Dam the torpedos! Don’t lower the prices!”.
They ignore the economy, the customers purchasing power, the banks tightening of lending , and where their products rank in comparison to other products.
They also want to force their European business model on the U.S.

Complaints about bad parts, too short wiring harnesses that fall apart during bumps. The US production workers then get blamed. I usually follow Hanlon's Razor on things, i.e., Never attribute malice to what can be explained by incompetence, or stupidity. The Dodge Chrysler by me seems to be the same as average, but I can definitely tell you that the ford dealership up the road is filled to the brim, overflowing into the ditch next door lol. I've never seen so many cars and trucks packed in like sardines. They are definitely struggling here in central PA.

It's important to understand that not all dealers use commercial floor plans. A dealership I worked for back in the 1990s had an owner wealthy enough to finance the vehicles personally. He would, of course, charge interest on the money owed and profit by it. This is probably not unusual for larger dealership corporations. So not all dealerships are in danger of getting their vehicles repossessed.

I owned a aftermarket accessory shop and my local dodge dealer was selling Ram Classics to people that didn’t even know that there was a new body Ram available even All the way to 2024 , they would come In and not know they were driving classics. And when I figured out it was a Classic body they would be upset at that they got deceived !

Can you guys do some videos that aren't focusing on pickup trucks? I'm really curious about cars like Grand Cherokee 4xes and other Stellantis vehicles. Even volvos.

I'll have to disagree on the everywhere but north america in my "rich" western european country they are poorly placed Suzuki sold more vitara than wrangler and grand cherokee combined and I had to google what a Vitara looks like because I have never seen one on the roads, that's bad

    Ray,
I challenge you to honor your viewers and give them the tools to be successful shoppers and do a series of videos on how navigate buying vehicles with mild to extreme lot rot and getting a good deal.
    OR
Create a CarEdge lot rot vehicle discount incentive program to move some of vehicles and get great deals for your customer base. The fee for a remote vehicle inspection is roughly two-hundred dollars. This is not a heavy lift or rocket science to weed out the good from the bad vehicles on dealer lots across the nation.
    Thank-you!!!

I think this was the channel that had info from a guy at the Jeep factory in Toledo last year who said everyone was working huge overtime hours, the vehicles sold to dealerships at high prices, and the plan of Stellantis was to work them like this until the dealer lots were full and then shut down the factories. News reports indicate that happened earlier this year according. European companies have a history of buying and then destroying American companies and this looks like one of those cases.

Chrysler and Ram engines are all prone to failure with the active engine management they have lifters, cams, and valve spring failures. Hopefully it happens under warranty. Your average consumer is wise to the situation. GM has the same situation with their engines with that active engine management system... Crazy
