  • In this video I'm going to show you how I impregante my polish lavvu so it gets waterproof.
Same thing goes for every other piece of canvas you want to impregnate: maybe your trousers or jackets for outdoors. Repeat the process shown in the video twice or more often to get even better results.

As @Puddle Duck already kindly mentioned, I applicated the wax on the "inside" of the lavvu and not on the outside, which would have been the more logic way to do it. But, since the wax melts "into" the material it's not a big deal and will do it's job. Anyways: putting the wax on the outside and repeating the process once or twice, will result in better waterproofness.

Great content! Just wondering how much weight did the lavvu gain after the coating?

Nice video, just received my 2 lavvu and modification from bushcraft Spain. Will also perform your same actions. I think you put the wax on the outside?

Thank you for your comment :)
I applied the wax on the inside which is probably not the best way to do it. But since the wax is now 'in" the material, it pretty much is going to to its job. Next time I would apply it on the outside.

You are putting the wax on the inside of the lavvvu? As opposed to the outside?

From what I understand it is the outside?! You mean it's the inside? 😮

@@gasparbushcraft5430 from what i understand...the extra flap is on the inside shoulders. and the arm holes have the flap on the outside to seal the hole with the buttons on it. But i dont guess it matters as long as the wax is in the material

@@puddleduck4924 I just looked it up and you are perfectly right... I always thought that the side with the chord hanging out must be the outside, but in fact it isn't. With that being said, I also think that the wax is gonna do its job, but imma wax the "real" outside as well since I have wax left :)
That's what you get from a newbie 😅 thank you anyway for your input.
