Awesome information. Loved to hear that the late, great Roy Williamson(The Flower of Scotland songwriter) was the best man at the great Finbar Fury’s wedding!
On the original album this tune was listed as Trad but I never believed it, it had to be Finbar. I was so glad to find the truth. I find it strange that it has not found more attention over the years. Even Finbar, to my knowledge, never recorded it again.
The Late, ( and Lovely) Roy Williamson was The Best Man at Finbar Furey's Wedding, Finbar married a Scottish girl. This is that photo of the two men, in suits, looking fabulous!
@@maryryan3442 Yes, it is. I cropped the others out! On my Roy Williamson playlist (last title) there is a clip from RTE of Finbar being interviewed about 50 years of marriage. He showed a photo of his wedding, and i spotted Roy in the top right corner.
@@Arkybark Thank you, Arkybark, for your response to my post! I enjoy such a lot of Roy, and the Corries and the Corrie Folk Trio with Paddie Bell, and love it all. And it's mostly thanks to you and Mandolinda!
I to have the 33RPM LP this featured on (the one pictured) , I think I bought it in about 1972/3 in Manchester when I was a student. This is my favourite track and love The young girl milking the cow track. I still have the LP and still treasure it today.

Absolutely wonderful, Roy would have been 85 I believe this year, I miss him him terribly. God bless you finbar & god speed Roy.
Born in 1936, he'd be 83 now. Still hard to imagine him being that old.
Arkybark I stand corrected, I thought he was born same year as my father.
@@JockLambert1972Doesn't matter. I just wanted to get the birth year in (25 June). Ronnie is a year younger

I've still got the 33 RPM record and often enjoy listening to this. I never knew who "Roy" was until now. Thank you for all the information.
If you want to get a glimpse of Roy's hands while hearing his and the Corries' music, I've got playlists on my channel!

You can almost smell the peat fires and taste the bushmills, home is where the head is, not the heart.
