I think it's really important to get horses integrated into the herd as soon as possible so they can socialize more and be together so we can all work together to improve. In this video I introduce our quarter horse Roni to the mix and things didn't quite go as I expected... Overall though, I good session for everybody even though I had to step in a couple of times and calm things down.

Wow! Lots of action there! You're a brave dude, Graeme...very impressive, the way you move them around. They definitely know that you are the leader.
I was surprised at Oscar chasing Miss with such intent! They'd already made friends... I think Roni instigated that mood. And she sees you as her boss and safety, so all that patient ground work pays off.
I wonder why Roni is so intensely attached to Lena? Little Miss must have a strong presence, to cause so much agression from the others.
Since you've taught us about the subtlety of horse communication, I could see lots of clear talking among them, fascinating.! What happened after you left?

You can tell when someone speaks horse language, their horses are relaxed around them, you don't need to use treats or chase them to catch them because you speak their language and show kindness they will just follow your commands without having to a loud voice or worse a whip.
A horses skin is 10 times more sensitive than human skin, you can tell that by how they twitch when a fly lands on them.
Horses are extremely sensitive animals and people just don't seem to understand that. You don't need big bits and spurs for a horse to move because as you show in the video they will move with just external pressure.
      Like a dance.
I am greatly enjoying your channel.

@@sandrastevens4418 Thank you very much Sandra :) I agree with all of that except the skin sensitivity part. I've really thought on this as I wonder why people use the phrase that a horse can feel a fly land on them, so can I though! I can feel a fly flying around me and setting down for half a second. Mosquitos, the worst for that! We catch them all the time, especially if they touch a hair. So I think that "maybe" they are more sensitive than us, but at the same time they don't seem to flinch much when another horse bites them, whereas I scream like a little girl if I get bitten :)

Her snorts are the cuuuuutest!!!!!!! I love her so much. I wish the mare Roni was protecting could have had a chance to really get to know the new one. Luke is just, wow, was calm & gentle guy. But what impresses me the most is you. They listen to you, look to you for direction. And you have confidence & just, such an incredible presence. This is my first time here but I'm gonna binge lol

It's funny watching this video again as a devoted supporter & observer compared to when I saw this for the first time. But I still mean those words & appreciate you responding to my very first comment. I'm so sad that all this time I never knew. I remember feeling a little left out at first but understanding how incredibly busy you are, I didn't mind. But then hearing you make a point to mention me & the comments I pour my heart into. To know that they have been reaching you, it seriously means the world to me. I've listened to it so many times today. Lol 😅
I did figure out what was wrong & I'm so embarrassed. It's something so simple that I assumed was on but all these years I guess it wasn't. But I fixed it & now I'll know when you respond. And yes, I'm going to find & read & respond to all the responses I can find. So when I blow up your notifications I apologize in advance. You certainly don't need to respond to all or any. But out of appreciation & respect for the time you took to respond to my comments, it's something I really want to do. You're the best!

She seemed to realize that you care about her - and that you wouldn't do anything to hurt her - she realized you wouldn't subject her to being hurt. I loved how she went on in to show those guys that she was in charge - she wasn't timid at all - she could have stayed close to you but she went out there and conquered.

Good Sunday morning Graeme👋🏼 looking forward for a Gracie reacts video! I imagine there’s going to be a lot of vocalization when meeting Little Miss, all three girls excluding Yoka are very good it seems at letting it be heard 🙉 in the herd

@@StableHorseTraining really looking forward to it. I’ve commented to you on one occasion bc I’ve had a fascination my whole life with Arabians that was thwarted by my parents/trainer feeling that I should stick with quarter horses. I have an established lovely herd of QH mares so I live vicariously through Gracie and her charm.

The herd starts out telling her she's gotta earn her way into the herd. Ultimately, the horses need to sort it out among themselves. Gray mare can take care of herself, for sure!

    • @StableHorseTraining

What does it look like to "earn" a way into a herd? I'm curious as to what a horse would do to reach another horse's goal for entry.

@@StableHorseTraining Wouldn't it look like a selfless act or using one's own energy to benefit another? Or bringing a skill others lack, like a complementary skill?
She wowed them as soon as they saw her effortless gait. "I may be running away but it's more my choice than yours. You wish you had my coordination and grace."
Maybe it's showing she can bring that benefit to the herd. She may have excelled in hoof-eye coordination the way her head stays so stable while her body quickly moves?
I know less than you have forgotten, so either your question was for the simpletons, ironic (like how youngsters use the word), polite, or humbleness; and that is why no one replied till I blundered into it like I know something...I may be need to socialize myself a bit more. I may need to gather some herd. I'll have to answer the human version of your question to do that.
