The Policed plays tribute to De Do Do Do De Da Da Da - in Wisseloord (holy ground!)

- At the time of writing, 41 years ago the legendary The Police recorded their 3rd album at the Wisseloord Studio’s in Hilversum, the Netherlands. With the help of their producer/engineer Nigel Gray they created a brilliant album -Zenyatta Mondatta-, with the hits Don’t Stand So close to Me and De Do Do Do De Da Da Da and masterpieces like Driven to Tears and Behind My Camel (Andy Summers' song - that won a Grammy).
Tributeband The Policed decided to cover and record two songs of Zenyatta Mondatta, exactly at the same spot where Stewart, Sting and Andy created their original; Studio 1, Wisseloord. A place, mostly unchanged from 41 years ago. Improved technology, but still the tape machine was there, the studio room was mainly unaffected, even the exact acoustic panels from 41 years ago (check the original album cover!) were there.
This video is one of the two songs recorded. De Do Do Do De Da Da Da was a huge hit in 1980/1981 for The Police. Sting was trying to make a point how 'the simple' can be so powerful. And it worked.
The band: “This is the fourth song that we covered. The earlier tribute songs Roxanne, Every Breath you Take and King of Pain were more musical interpretations. For this one we tried to stay close to the original as possible, except for the end of the song, where we inserted some of our own creativity.” Note, the version that you see is the first take of the song. The camera footage is the actual recording- shot live.
The second video release will be ‘Driven to tears’ and also a short documentary about the project will follow.
Recorded at the Wisseloord Studios, Hilversum, Netherlands
The Policed are:
Bass, lead vocals: Anton Arema
Guitars, Moog, backing vocals: Barth de Klerk
Drums, percussion, backing vocals: Kees de Jong
A big thanks to:
Juan van Emmerloot, for producing, cheerleading, mixing and mastering.
Felix, our Wisseloord engineer & tape operator & Danny, for technical support.
Bart Verhoeven; for the video (concept, camera and edit) and the brilliant cameraman without fear, Pieter.
And off course the Dog ‘Boontje'’.. for mental support.
Our thanks to Sting and The Police and all who made this project a success and off course you! Thanks for taking the time to listen and watch. For more videos and info, visit website: www.thepoliced.com or Facebook: bestpolicetributeband.

I like how you guys took ownership of the song and even had fun playing with it down tight........
Great job by the entire band but that guitarist really NAILED the sound 100%~!!
Gran trabajo excelente ¡¡¡¡
Brilliant 😊
At least part, if not all of, "Hysteria" by Def Leppard was recorded at Wisseloord. This studio has a nice soul to it, & it comes through on recordings that were done there. Fantastic job w/ this cover, gentlemen. Cheers!
Uff q bacanería de cover saludos desde Bogotá Colombia ..
I like their twist at the end, musically this is 10/10 but vocally it's 5/10.
Excelente con excelencia. 👍🏻👍🏻
Magic.......wow
Muy bien logrado
I guess one question I would ask is, would The Policed consider writing "new Police material"? In other words, writing their own original songs, completely stylized after The Police? That would be really cool! I'm confident they could pull off some great new tunes that would convince us!
We're waiting for the Italy tour!
Part of being a tribute band is looking the part...I didnt see any resemblance but the music played is a credit to you.
Plastic surgery?
me gusta
fuck yeah!
Jimmy Carter won the Presidential election when this song was released as a single in December 1980...
Why such a staccato phrasing style when singing doo do da da? It needs to be longer.
video needs more pug footage
So hard to duplicate
Barth de Klerk - BRAVO!
sorry for the lead singer,...you,re just 6 out of 10 on your great band player
not that feel but anyway fine
Muy bueno!! solo la forma de cantar el dododo no me gustó..
drummer and guitarist is super bu vocal had not that feel
Jesus ! Lay off those effects cymbals! These tribute band drummers never get it right
sorry....
Horrible camera work is my issue. Barely showed the drummer at all. And then it was mostly his head.
parrot useless!!!!!
You are not even singing the right lyrics..
Vocals ruined it
