"Ohhohh!" - Classic Sting haha I love when he does that with crowds. It's like he's asking without asking "hey, you guys still with us out there?" lol Excellent song and great version!
Also much of the crowd antics that Sting used were “borrowed” (I’m being kind here) from Bob Marley (Day-O, kee-o, etc). Listen to Bob Marley’s live concerts
@@ERIC-65 YES. I druming Knight, a real SIR, no police without him, drums, guitar & bass made it süecial, they where only be 3 on the band, and then there be three, Genesis, Collins, but Copeland and Steven Harrisson ---> drumming at its best

He did for the longest time with The Police. I remember being surprised when I caught them on the German leg of their Synchronicity tour in 1983 and Sting was playing a white, fretted bass that looked at a bit like a Warwick. But at that time they were all wearing those strange stage outfits anyway and had two female backup singers in tow (one of them being Dolette McDonald, who'd two years later go on tour with Sting when he went solo with The Dream Of The Blue Turtles), so... Well. The end was near, wasn't it?
@@renderizer01 That was a Spector NS2, the first proper production model. He played that through virtually all the Synch tour , with his '62 Jazz getting the odd run around the block.
@@thewomble1509 Yes, I found out some time after the Synchronicity tour wrapped. It got mentioned in some music magazine. I still think there's something Warwickish about that Spector.
@@renderizer01 Well, Warwick are technically the older company. they are part of the German brand Framus which have been making instruments for a long time. The Spector was the brainchild of Ned Steinberger, hence NS series and Stuart Spector. I think the very first Spector prototype was made in the mid seventies.

I cannot express the thanks I wanna give you for the live performances you have provided the world with your videos. Thanks, and honestly, you feel like family to me.
Sting’s reaction was… “Hey, that’s my thing, thief.” I always thought about it as a Police expression. I also love the “cha” which, for some unexplained peculiar reason, Sting refused to say during the reunion tour. Fans wore t-shirts with Cha written in big bold letters. Nothing. They threw balls with the word. Nothing.
To CK, I’m sorry but many musicians play a fretless bass and sing. Please check out Jack Bruce. Thanks for putting this up. Sting is riding on the Coattails of Andy Summer
you would need to be a musician to even realize how low quality your comment is. If you are a musician well then your not much of one. Couldnt imagine a normal decent musician ever making such a jaggoff comment like you ...lol wow
Most underrated police song
My nomination: Walking On The Moon.
100% agree
For me. Beds To Big
@@brianallancobb Low Life? Great song, much overlooked.
Canary in a coalmine
Singing high vocals and playing a fretless bass at the same time. Sting is not human.
BEST TO PLAY THAT AND FRET LESS!
My favourite track from Zenyatta Mondatta ❤️
That drummer's bloody incredible. I like Sting, but this is the Police making me a huge fan all of a sudden.
He sure is and look incredibly younger than his aging years!!
Rush's, iconic drummer, Neil Peart, was a big fan of Stewart Copeland as well!
They were incredibly tight. There's a lot of syncopation in this and they don't miss a beat--plus that nice little accelerando at the end.

Should be Sir Copeland already !

The Police never get old. Real artistry. Real talent. Real music.

sting's bass tone is sending me over the moon it's so so good
Great lyrics and music by one of the best bands of all time.
the police and rush greatest 3 piece hands down
Mick Mccauley Come on! How about the Jimi Hendrix Experience, Cream, Stevie Ray Vaughn and Double Trouble, ZZ Top and on and on!
literally my top 4 bands are all 3 pieces haha
In no specific order, Green Day, Rush, The Police, Primus
I'd add The Jam to that, and the Who (when Pete is singing, anyway!)
The Police energy, chemistry and unique sound are incomparable in their prime

No.
Fantastic song. Great performance. Would love to hear this played live more by Sting when touring.
Rhythm guitar leaving out any quarter beat and hitting every even eighth instead. Andy is a machine.
I had to watch after I started singing it to myself.
Plus wearing his own band's merchandise!!
I am looking for this shirt....
And wearing it well

He’s been playing fretless from the beginning. As early as Beat Club from 78’

Hey, Stewart's insult against Stingo is actually visible on this one.

The fu written on the drums is directed at Sting. Not a good time within the band.
It is not directed at sting (contrary to popular believe) but at his ex wife

They didn't do a lot of Ska tunes, pity.

He also wore The (english) Beat and XTC T shirts too.

Fretless?
Yup. He played fretless on most of their albums.

@@jacobjansma4340 Frets get in the way of being more expressive.
Good playing, but vocally a little let down. The chorus doesn't come close to the studio version and Sting is singing it much lower.
