It isn't a letter, in japanese u understand that's Vivi's last speach, speaking directly to his friends. During the last sentences he speaks slower and slower and then u understand that he is in his way to completely "stop".
Poor Vivi did nothing wrong. At least he managed to live his life to the fullest. T.T In a way his part really fits the theme of the story and he was able to leave behind a beautiful melody.
The PS1 Final Fantasies are just all magical in so many ways IMO. But, as far as endings go, this one can't be beat. High school friend told (or perhaps, warned) me that the ending was the best when I was about halfway through, but thankfully didn't spoil it. You see that cutscene and think no way anyone gets out of there! I enjoy every time I see someone else experience it for the first time, because I remember how I felt (AKA wrecked, and glad nobody saw me, lol!)
The ending of FF9 breaks me every time for how happily bitter sweet it is. Vivi's letter at the end destroys me, i cry tears of joy to see Zidane and Garnet get together at the end and everyone celebrates. I think Kuja is one of the few villains of the series that truly regrets his actions in the end which make him a compelling villain. Overall the majority of fans believe this story more or less belongs to Vivi as Vivi is part of the central theme of the game "What it means to live". Vivi having the mind of a child and having to deal with the existential crisis of his short time on Gaia is dreadful and he never gets to see Zidane again after the airship takes off. SO the letter at the end was his way of saying goodbye should the end come unexpectedly. I always figured Vivi's sons are part of a program that the powers of the world are trying to use the last of THE MIST by creating more Black Mages in order to drain it completely from the world and to keep Vivi's memory alive.
The English translation and singing of this song is great, but I want you to listen to this one in Japanese. It tells the story of FF9 and is incredibly moving. It's amazing. This is a song that I can't listen to without crying.
I love FF9. I rly do. The ending gets me every time, the moment when i see: my memories will be part of the sky. Just writing about it almost makes me cry. And the moment when you realise Vivi is the one writing the letter, the moment you realise Vivi died off screen... and then it finally hits you. Vivi never knew Zidane survived. Zidane didnt know that Vivi died, he didnt get to say goodbye... i love it but it just breaks my heart. Loved the video❤
That's what I want to say. Thank you, my friend. If everyone in the world could understand and hear the Japanese lyrics, they would understand how wonderful the last song is. The English version is also wonderful. This song is about kindness, warmth, and true strength to overcome sadness, and it made me cry. Is there any story that can move people more than this?
Nothing cringe about crying over FFIX's ending, it's a natural response. Hell, if I don't cry at the end of an FF game I want my money back 😆 At least this pain is... happy? idk. Great video!
I am playing FFIX myself. Just started the 4th disc. Only my second time playing it,... and i can entirely relate to how your feeling. This game is a masterpiece and i don't want it to be over!
@@allytheninja for real! I just finished watching the end credits... and I have to say that out of any media available... movies, television, video games, novels... you name it... seeing it with the eyes I have now.. as compared to my first play through, which was when FF9 was initially released.... FF9 is truly legendary and I am so grateful for the Sakaguchi's and his teams inspiration, imagination and passion... and Uematsu's musical genius(whom I consider to be a similar level to say Mozart or Bach or Beethovens) that brought this masterpiece into this world, for us all to enjoy. :D
Never played this game but as one who tends to spoil themselves with old game endings, I legitimately like to believe that this game’s ending (and especially the song) was what killed my covid at the time. It’s just such a heavy tear jerker I can’t even… Also I want, WANT, to believe Kuja is still alive, and probably repenting for his sins. He’s too beautiful I can’t imagine him dying. 😢
I know it's a year late, but you did nothing wrong with that final boss fight. I'll be going back to watch the whole playthrough in all its goofiness, but I can clearly see you've played out the majority of the game and treated every nook and corner with absolute respect. And as such you've reaped the benefits and rewards. Great battling and strategy, you truly did marvelous. You should be proud 😊
Don't be weird about this... this game always makes me cry. It's my favorite game. Don't worry. As I man who has played this game over ten times, I grant you permission to cry, over the clearly, emotionally provocative moments! And I'm not just saying that, because I'm a cry baby.
I love FFVIII🙌. If I was forced to choose among all of the fantastic FF series I would definitely choose FFVIII(what can I say but that I'm a sucker for a lone wolf❤). Great video. FFIX is a beautiful game and I love how origional every game in the FF series is. I still cry when I see the happy ending in this game. I also have questions but when I played this for the first time I was at peace with how it ended. I'm a new subscriber because of your authenticity🤗
Good lord, you weren't kidding, when you're panicking you end up just picking random things lol. Calm thyself, it hurts to watch when you're panicking. That being said, loved this game, just like every other FF I've played.
Like most millenialsquaresoft fans, I played this game like 100 times as a tween lol. I didnt realize the 1st couple of playthroughs that Vivi DIED shortly after Zidane went missing! I could comprehend that a little boy went on a whole ass journey just to die at the end. His passing was overshadowed by Zidane and Garnets love story. Maybe at the ending they could've shown him and Quan buried together at the Black Mage Village or something idk. Either way, all time fave!
I hate that it got corrupted but definitely enjoyed the dance break But just to burst your bubble, it is suggested that Vivi has died and he's the disembodied text.
I finished this game a lot of times and I am doing a playthrough yet again! IX, VII, IV, VI, VIII and XII hold a special place in my heart in that order! I am sorry but X was a mess and X-2 tried to do it's best. That is just good in my book, not great. VIII was a mess too but you can finally piece it together after you finish it for the third time. xD Something about X on the other hand just didn't feel like Final fantasy to me!
Not a bad game, but I don't get why people place it #1 or in their top 3 even. There are so many better games from an emotional and gameplay standpoint, but again, 9 isn't a bad game
I’m REFUSING to accept that ending letter was from Vivi. YOU CAN’T MAKE ME. I REFUSE. IT HURTS TOO MUCH.😤💔
it is what is it? was beautiful to see your optimism considering vivi wasn't in the ending lol if only it was that easy
I take comfort in the fact that he had a family and a beautiful life🤗❤
It is him, in japanese he got language ticks that makes him immediately recognizable as soon as he starts his monolog

Twenty years later and it got me again dang it.
Easily one of my favorite FF games, up there with 4.
Vivi's goodbye letter breaks me every time.

This game was great! The ending threw me for a loop! Great gaming my Sis!!

I truly hope you're enjoying it to it's fullest! This playthrough took a huge emotional toll on me, but in a good way!

FFIX is definitely my favorite of the entire series.
RIP Vivi, you absolute legend!
Don't ever feel bad about crying Sis! I cry while playing them too!
Thank you! I can't ever control it!
@@allytheninja You're welcome! I think its the emotions is what we all feel and makes us all connected!
I still tear up every time i see the ending even after 24 years.
So much Nostalgia !
I'm 35 years old now

This was the first final fantasy game I ever played it's my favourite besides ffx
FF9 is the 2nd best FF series after ff7 for me. love your reaction and finally it ended

i can't find the first part of this video...
Who are those figures at 29:07 ??
Kuja used the last of his powers I believe to save Zidane.

Yeah sorry sister vivis dead or "stopped" by the time the end occurs
Sick t-shirt
Way back many years ago, i thought is a happy ending, until i realized vivi did not make it to the end, he never see his bestfriend zidane🥺😢
of all the people i watched playing this game, you probably has the highest dodge rate out of all of them. 😅
いいね🎵日本から
Lol seen this ending in 7th grade
