Agreed, but no insta buy possible withBehringer, though.E verything fom them is delayed. If we are lucky,we might get this by the end of August, but don't hold your breath.
Matt, thanks for the video. One of the coolest thing of using the original 808 having a JP8 is trigger the arpeggio of the synth with the 808. Would be really nice to see if that part of the RD-808 works also like the original TR-808, looks like you have a great opportunity to check it there :)
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai that would be great. I told you this because sadly the MS-101 trigger in is not working properly for now... and I am curious about the RD-808 :)
Is that the Stardust cover for the JP8? Got one for my Odyssey Mark III and Prophet 6.. Regarding the noise, if you've connected the USB port to your DAW, you need a USB isolator.
How is the build quality? Been curious about this with all the Behringer releases of late. They have always packed phenomenal features for a great price point, but their gear seems to fail on me within the first 6 months or so just about every time. It does sound great though!
Playing the Drumbrute in the store was such an underwhelming experience for me. Most of the instruments sounded thin to me but at the same time not different enough from the classic TRs to really make it unique. I think they did a little better with the Impact but still no comparison to how promising the RDs are. Better sound, much closer to the originals plus many more sequencer functions like polymetric patterns, probability, note and step repeat, step editing for the filter... it's going to be an 808 MK II basically.
I prefer the TR-8S due to the sounds as FX section. One can have a certain effect on hihat and on master you can go LPF/HPF at the touch of a button. With the vocoder Behringer undercut Roland but with this I am affraid not so.
I agree, it is also a great option. With sampling, more sound options, better fx, it will travel to boundaries where these two classics will not go. Saves space too! But it also costs as much as RD-8 AND RD-9 combined. What keeps me off from all those three is the fact that owning them makes me sound exactly like everyone else and their dog. This is why I might go to DrumBrute and just process the hell out of it in order to find the same punch than what already is in these pre-processed machines.
not be be technical, but these are definitely clocked digitally, albeit having analog voices. Drum machines that have CV inputs have a slightly different feel to them and often miss triggers in weird ways when you send wrong voltages. its really fun! I haven't checked the specs but if this has trigger inputs you could do that with the rd8 if triggered from an analog sequencer...
I mean no offense, but you look like an alternate-universe version of Limmy. (...Or maybe it's like an Into The Spider-verse situation where the blondie is the original, and the brunette is the weird, broke version of him?)
Very few claps on any drum machine sound right especially in demos. Personally I would like to hear the sound with a shorter decay and a touch of distortion and reverb. The good news is you can route the clap out separately for external processing. I think it's worth noting that Matt is not a highly proficient drum machine performer but he does know what sounds good. Personally I will be buying this primarily on the the strengths of the sequencer (polyphony, flams etc), kick (I ran an oscilloscope on this demo to see how the lower frequencies registered at normal volume level - which was a fairly rock steady 0dB running the UA-cam audio through Cubase 10) and conga sounds. The hats and cymbals I generally e.q. anyway.
Recently found your channel. Very refreshing to see and hear someone play with excellent taste!!
Matt, are you using a Jupiter 8 as a Behringer Drum Machine stand?
Haha yes very expensive stand!
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai Very symbolic. Behringer standing on top of the best Roland gear. Best stand ever!
I was just thinking exactly the same thing!
bahahah! laugh out loud
I’d buy your Behringer rd808 stand! Lol thanks for uploading! What a joy to watch!
I love someone make the old things again! 🎹🙃🎼💐👍
At last! ... A demo from a real user! Cheers Matt 😎🎹👍🏼
Can't wait to get my hands on this. Thanks for the demo.
It does sound really nice. No need for an original! Thank Matt!
16:37 sounds amazing, thanks for showing it off.
Great stuff man! I think its great you make this videos since you are a real pro. Keep'em coming please! Cheers!
I like the beat programming…Nice BEAT !! Slapping 🔊🔊🔊🔊
Ohh yeah 10:00 the way that beat comes in after those rides is delicious 😋
Beautiful presentation.
So Matt whens the hip hop album dropping? lol, Honestly I think I'm sold thanks to your demo!
Beautiful. Nice vibanet, too. Thanks, man.
That’s a nice $25,000 RD-8 Stand.
Awesome demo! Thanks so much. Cheers.
Sounds sweet and the filter is like whipped cream on top
This thing is just inst-buy, no hestiation, nothing. Its perfect... Thanks for demo, great job!
Absolutely no need for a reel one. Amazing!
@@SimonBellefleur Im in love with vintage synths and equip, but 808 pricing is beyond ridiculous and this piece is just spot on. Perfect! :)

Pretty bloody good demo for someone without a manual.
thats my dream drum machine stand

Sounds great to me! I think I need one. Merry Christmas to me!🤣
Congrats, sounds good. Like it.
The Dave smith drum machine just gave that thing the stink eye
I never got into it.

dude these are mad cool
Great video as an ex tr808 owner this & the tr8s come close enough.
Из легендарной техники можно такую музыку записать. Спасибо Мэт , очень интересно.
Costs just 10% of a used TR-808. Behringer are now the future of instruments now. Have you tried the Poly D yet?
not sure I agree they are the future but make good copies of old gear
It’s great but a little sneaky (IMO)
Behringer future of instruments? Don't think so. Roland did this 40 years ago...
@@synthetic24 if chinese factories and cheap parts are the future of music then maybe

@ghost mall Doesn't work!
Hi Matt. Any chance you could do a review of your Neuman KH-310`s? Very curious of you what you think of them.
I love them, great value
Sounds pretty good but given the situation: can this unit sequence an external drum synth?(i.e. Vermona drm mkIII)
yes it can
Pablo Ortega thank you
Collector la RD-808 ⚡🔊
oh, man... this tempest seating over there ... :)
WOW......Can't wait! lol
cant wait for this to drop.
Thanks Matt
That tempest collecting dust is what you should be using
Man I wish Uli would hurry up with the 909. Foooo reals!
13:50 looks like they have In The Air Tonight pre programmed. Turn up the snare & it's release Miami Vice!
That song has nothing to do with the 808.

How would this compare to drumbrute ? Sound wise and in term of price ? These days the drumbrute is priced under 400Eur

I have an Electron Octatrack that I use as a drum machine, love that
Awesome demo! Cheers

Does the TRIGGER have the same electronic click sound as the 808 if you run it into audio?
I haven't tried I'm afraid

Forgetting about TR-808 biases, is the RD-8 worth having?
alot of people are saying its even better than the original
Is the rd8 in the stores in 2020, the same as this rd808 demo in 2018?
Yes
When do us mere mortals and general riff raff get to buy one?
I don't know sorry but I think real soon. We are all riff riff in this game!

What annoys me about the filter is the cutoff click on the high pass which is a clicky annoyance that you do not want in your recording.
Reckon they'll have to fix that crazy loud noise when you hit the play button....
I think you are probably hearing my hand hitting it. There's no noise when you press play
@@MattJohnsonJamiroquai Thanks. That's a relief!
can you control the pitch of the bassdrum via MIDI 🤞🏼
Don't know sorry, but would be great if you can
noisyneil I read somewhere that they’re pushing back the release date to specifically add this features, as well as other things. :)
If that’s true, it’s a legit upgrade!
Anyone know what the keyboard is behind that the Tempest is sitting on top of
it's a Vintage Vibe Vibanet
I guess that's the closest $300 is going to get you to a real 808. Sounds pretty good! Now get JK in there and write some songs! ;)
Goes far beyond my 808.
LOL somewhere Christopher Walken is going "Fuck me!"
I didn't know Masta Ace was English 🤣
An Tempest on top of the Keyboard?
yes
Is it just me or does the clocking of analogue machine sound more organic than the exactness of digitally driven machines?
They all have their own groove which is part of the charm I guess

Looks like it's gonna cut down processing time most machines make you spend to get the bass drum sounding good.

futuristic patterns?
Is this the same as the Behringer RD08 or is this different?
Jimmy Kwan The RD-808 has now been renamed RD-8. It is the same machine.

Is it possible to output each channel over USB?
Don't know sorry but I think not
the word on the street is no.
thanks, and the TR-08 can, despite maybe not sounding as good. But this can be resolved by channel processing... so will prob go with the 08
@@3lysium1 TR-08 sounds closer to the original IMO. It's trivial to give it a bit more body with a simple saturation plugin.
3lysium1 that USB feature will not work in 5 years. The Rd’s actual OUTPUTS still will though. 👍

different beasts, the tempest is way more versatile but this sounds great for what it is
