- The Minnesota firearms deer hunting opener for 2017 is here. This video covers the first 4 days of the hunt which were met with bad weather conditions, trees down and more snow. Tough hunting conditions. The family was up for the traditional deer camp opener. Fun times, good food and great memories.
Watch this video to get your Johnny's seasoning I use at the Tent to get 20% off through Novembrer 30th. • TAC CITY GOODS. Johnny...

Who else has been waiting for the movie 🤔 finally get to enjoy some tent life and deer hunting.
Hunter I’ve been checking morning, noon & night……… 👍🤠
Me too. I thought he'd post this last week and do a second video for this past weekend that just ended for a total of 2 movies. Silly me. lol
Thats exactly what I am doing, I am editing the second weekend video now and you will get a third movie for this coming weekend but I was only home 48 hours between trips. It takes me a few days to get these long videos edited. I do have a regular job also lol.
Oh good, a second video and a third one too. Yeah, I figured you've been busy and editing does take time. Sorry no deer so far.
The deer hunting are the best!
Stumbled onto the channel by accident, been binge watching ever since. Makes me wanna move north.
Pork Steaks, Potatoes, Mud Buggin' and Hunting. Joe's videos are absolutely certain to entertain. :D
Same here was a couple years ago now and it's become my deer hunting tradition to pull out the pad or laptop to watch the family.
It’s coooooold! Especially if your not used to it lol
You are one blessed man, to have a family that loves your tent. And will drive so far to be with you there.
Ever since I subscribed to Joe and Zach's survival, I pulled the plug on cable TV.
I sure appreciate all the work you guys put into this channel.
Thanks Jim. It has been a tough couple of weekends up there. Maybe this next one will be better.
Your best video so far . Keep up the good work! Its not about the camera its about the guy filming it.
Sarah is a trooper...you must be a proud Dad.
Get the popcorn!!! The highlight of every fall on UA-cam!!!!
Mongo Friend Right on!
Joe:
Thanks for sharing your life, family, and the beauty of Minnesota with us all.
You'll have plenty of firewood next Spring.
My dad told me that if you make pantyhose your first layer, you'll be lots warmer. It really works, especially in wind. He learned that trick when he did a temporary duty in Iceland. xoxo from Arizona.
I can't express how much I enjoy your videos. The flood of memories that they bring to me are priceless. Thank you Joe.
A better title is, Logging 2017. "The Movie"
ROFL
Thanks for your hard work on these Joe. I'm sure it's more work than we can comprehend. I hope you enjoy doing it because we sure enjoy watching them. Thanks again.
Oh My God! The memories of my Dad this movie brings to my mind! From the drives over the snow covered two tracks, to the heating of the wash water on the stove!!! (I really miss that guy!) I think my most favorite sound in the world is the hiss of a Coleman white gas, two mantle lantern!!!! Put that together with the heavenly aroma of coffee and bacon n' eggs on the wood burner stove, then all is right with the world!!!!
Thank you so much for those memories!!!!!!!
Awesome movie!!!!!
Thank you Kelly. Two more "deer hunting" videos yet to come. One is filmed and being edited and I will be going back up this weekend for the final weekend of the season.
A deer season opener with family and friends, what a special time. Thank you, Joe, for a beautiful example of the hunter lifestyle.
Joe...you’ve got a good group there. I also have 2 girls and a boy. Nothing better than having them all back together. Good luck next weekend!
Your family is so blessed to have a sanctuary like The Tent to go to. So beautiful up there. Lot of work to maintain and improve your Tent and roads leading to it but...man...I envy your family. Thanks for all your wonderful videos. Brings e peace just watching them.
When the Weather is that Windy & Harsh, The Deer are Bedded Down, As they do not want to wonder around either, Unless they are really Hungry, Even when the Rut, Is in Full Swing, They wait for a break in the wind & Weather, Before moving around again, Iv'e been Hunting Deer for the last 40, Years , In all kinds of Weather, In the Great Northeast , And it's always the Same, Depending on the Weather Fronts etc.Great Movie, Thanks for Sharing it.
Stay tuned for the next video uploading tonight and be prepared to eat those words. LOL. I think the exact same way as you but as you will see it is not always the case. In our defense though, the wind was starting to die down when all the action started.
home sick from work today, couldn't think of a better way to spend it, watchin' Joe
Lots more adult beverages in our cabin . Especially for those that got deer . Thanks for sharing .
I love your family together in the tent, I enjoyed watching the video, thanks! Oh I love your cooking, too! 😉!
Sarah is so cute and cheerful. What a joy. Brightens my day just watching her on these videos.
Joe, your recent camera upgrades outshine the old. What a difference. Still fun to watch back these three years.
Making memories is always great!!!!!! What fun you guys have!
I enjoy all your videos I love the campsites life
Is it weird that the I bought Hunters Blend and made pork steaks and potatoes and then watched the Deer Movie. Thanks Joe for bringing us all along.
Absolutely love these "Movies" ... Thank you, Joe!
So relaxing watching your videos. Thanks for taking us along!
For your storage at the cabin you can get a large 500-1,000-1,500gal plastic septic tank and bury it. It would cost about $700-1,500 (depending on which you get). It comes with 1-2 20in dia manhole access hatches under a few inches of dirt. It can be a few feet underground and you can store massive amounts of gear and supplies up at your cabin without risk of it going bad/ freezing (food) or hidden (everything). No one would know it is there keeping all your supplies hidden and safe. Just a thought.
Hard core. I am impressed and I realize I need to kick my own hunting up a notch. Thanks for sharing.
Finally !!!!!! It's like Christmas morning getting a new video !!!!! Yea !!!!!!!
I like it, miss one yesterday at the grass lands in lbj. your video are great . there better then the hunting on tv . good luck.
Thank you all again for sharing your amazing adventures! I look forward to every video
I always get hungry watching the Tent videos
Loved the movie! Thanks for sharing another amazing deer opener with us! Good luck next week!
Great video and family values again. Thank you and your families time in making this video.
Nice to see that in real hunting camps that we don't always see deer. I have a camp on 104 acres half way between Montabello and Mount Tramblent Quebec and we don't always see deer either. Although we do have Moose and Bear. Some years we are lucky and get one of the above but not every year. One year we got a bear,a moose and 3 deer but that is very rear. Happy trails.
I think the deer are hanging out in the tent watching flicks and chomping popcorn while you guys are sitting on your stands.
Awesome! Thanks for taking us along again.
Yesss, another video and it's a movie, great.
It's nice to see the kids up there.I have 4 kids and hope to spend time with them when there that age.Good luck Joe and family.
The snow footage is so beautiful.
Great family. I just imagine in 50 years those kids remembering that early morning drop off with the diesel running and thinking of their dad.....
PhatKid68 what you talking about joe still going to be around in 50 years.

Awfully good, Joe - for you to share all this w/ the rest of us. Appreciate it, very much.
I had a good time...
Thank you for the great post. I miss my northern MN hunting patch up on Kabetogama these tent videos bring back very fond memories of our family deer hunts and fishing trips. I now live in the Ozarks on Table Rock Lake, Ice fishing is also out of the question ........
That was a great hour well spent for me, thanks for making. Enjoyed watching the family all playing together and getting along. You will be able to pick firewood up for months to come with all that cutting you have been doing.
Look forward to seeing the cabin build whenever that happens.
Hey Joe, glad to see you and your sister back at it. I've watched every year for the last three years and watching now just two days from the Wisconsin gun opener. Good health to you and your family and thanks for posting again this year.
really nice to see your daughter Sarah is so into the hunt! Love your videos from your northern Ontario Canadian fan. Cheers.
A video so nice I watched it twice.
@53:15 you talk about hearing shots and maybe they're target shooting. Reminds me of the old farmers I knew who said; "1 shot = 1 deer, 2 shots maybe 1 deer, 3 shots no deer."
Enjoyed that, thanks Joe & family.
Great to see you and the family together at the Tent!
this is amazing guys. we love it. thank you 😀
Thanks for another great video. Getting ready for another Michigan opener myself Nov 15th. The older I get (52) the less it is about getting a dear than it is spending time with the family. With my dad getting older who knows how many more openers we have together. My son is excited as well, and for the 1st time my daughter wants to come out. Glad to see your family gets together every year. a special time for sure. Hopefully this coming up weekend you see more deer.
excellent movie Joe and family - thanks for sharing
Joe! Thank you for all you put into your videos, seriously! All of the shots and camera angles...every single one you don't disappoint! I don't comment all the time but certainly anticipate your fantastic content! Great to see you getting an opportunity to spend time with all of your children. Born and raised and still live in MN but miss the North...your vids let me take a break when I can't make it that way. Cheers!

I know Joe's new cabin will be great but I'll miss the tent.
The Tent will be here for awhile yet. No need to replace her quite yet.
JoeandZachSurvival never take down the tent if possible
Spectacular Joe, great video. Good to see all of the family together like this. Between the live feeds, Instagram updates, Facebook post you have been really busy Thank You. Sure has been very relaxing on this end enjoying this year's deer hunt with you and your family. I really hope you get one before the season is up for all the hard work and dedication you have put into keeping us entertained. Thank you again. Stay safe Joe and good luck, were all rooting for you to get that buck.

I was surprised to see you in the comments. It has been awhile. Welcome back. I hope you are getting caught up on both of the UA-cam channels.
My favorite part: Sara, it's 4:30, it's time to get up

Congrats!
how old are u 6 or ten
another awesome tent movie. thanks for the upload guys. can't wait for next year.
There are still more weekends in this season.
wonderful to see so many in the tent
Another great video. Thanks Joe!
It seems like a tradition to watch one of JoeandZachsurvival’s videos the day before deer hunting.
I've probably said this before but you are some hardy folk. 10 degrees and not even Thanksgiving plus snow! Plus up at 4:30am! Growing up in the midwest, now in SO Calif I've become soft. The sound of that crunching snow when walking brings back memories of walking to school on a cold day.... Except it was probably February not November.
These vids are the best part of my year. A very long time since I was deer Hunting. 1986 I think. Ross Tasmania
I now listen to Polka music in the background of every video. I love your videos!!
I sure do love Monday uploads!!! I usually have Monday and Tuesday off so i get the next two days to watch all the new uploads!!! Excited for deer camp!!!
Sitting here in Singapore loving the footage. So beautiful. 65 degrees difference. Missing snow and seasons - not that we get much of the former in Ireland. Singapore day is always the same length. Lovely spot you have there folks.
Absolutely awesome post! I truly enjoy these
What a fun way to spend time with family. Bet you can't wait til Xander is old enough to join ya.
Love these videos! Thanks for taking the time to make them. I'm sure it can get a little annoying when you're just trying to enjoy your time up there.
Just watched 2016 deer opener and this popped up. Love your videos Joe!
Another great video Joe, you can see how much you like having your kids up there. Good father, enjoy it while you can. George hasn't had any vids in a while ,I'll send him a note. Thanks for doing what you do Wisc opener Saturday, I'm getting ready
Yea at the very very end of the next video you will hear what happened on his deer stand last Sunday about 9:30.
I love watching these guys
Thank-you,thank-you Joe. I got a double dose of "Sarah - It's 4:30 time to get up " this year. I don't know why but it makes my day to hear it and see her reaction each year. Good luck to you both. My buddy got an 8 Pt buck and a doe so far this year with his crossbow. Seeing as I can't hunt anymore I gifted him with my Cabelas deer cart. He has one more tag to fill (doe permit) which he will be using up at his deer camp come rifle season.
Good Times....Makes me miss my Dad and our hunts together.
I feel like I waited an eternity for this movie lol can’t wait for the rest of deer season to be uploaded. Thank you for sharing with us.
Love these video's from up here in the W00D's.........I hope you both a lot of luck next trip.
