I find middle parts make my face look rounder and wider. I prefer side parts because the imbalance of the two sides of my hair give the illusion of a slimmer face and bring the attention to my eyes rather than my cheeks.

That’s a great point actually. It’s hard for me to find exact examples because I don’t have models who I can actually do the physical hair on with this specific face shape. I know that these tips will work because I have done hair for 15 years and I’ve had several clients with this face shape and I’ve seen what looks amazing and what isn’t flattering. Next time maybe I could ask my clients to be apart of some of my videos and show the cuts on real women. I tried to show the specific cuts I talked about on women who have round faces but you’re right that they’re not as full as the model in the profile pic.
@@GlamGirlGabi thanks. I am not doubting your knowledge and experience. It is just really hard to imagine the cuts on a full face, and understand how shape, shadows and length all work on a full face.
Great description of the face shapes using the word “chiseled”.” I don’t know many gals who have as much hair as many of the models either. That said they are all beautiful.

I love Justin, so glad you had him on your channel. Not only do I have a round face, I have fine, thin hair. It is easy for me to look like a skinned onion. 🤣 wish I had someone like you or Justin in my area. Sending you love and hugs from Tennessee ❤️🤗
I had gotten myself an A-frame haircut a year ago, and I was a little worried. Because it was my first time of a few years that I changed the style of a hair cut. I had gotten the long shag, but I wanted to try something different. After I had gotten the A-frame haircut, my friends had told me that I looked really good that hair style.
Facial features also make a difference. I have a large thick nose and a center part accentuates that. I am much less self conscious of my round face than I am about my large nose.
I totally agree with the comment about wanting to see styles that help slim the face, not just for people who have round” shape but they are slim and have defined features. When I search for suggestions on how to skim the face this is the type of video that comes up. I was hopeful that this video would be different since you showed a person. With a fuller face. Even if you didn’t find models (I’m sure there are plenty who would volunteer!) Justin usually does a photoshop suggestion which would work in this situation. I hope you do another video to show how to slim and define the face. Thanks!
I have always loved the “Wedge cut” thin layers cut horizontally stacked upon each other. I’m talking 70s style. I have cut many over my long career. But I can’t find anyone to cut my hair like that. It’s a great cut for almost anyone. If you can cut a real wedge. I’d would drive anywhere…. I’m getting older but I don’t have to look like it! Thanks…..
None of the examples look like the 1st pic that baited us all in to watch this. It would also be helpful to see a true round face as well as thin, fine hair because THAT is a true challenge. Anyone can look fabulous with thick hair or lots of hair.
Hot take: I enjoy my face to be widened slightly because it makes me look more youthful with a cherub like appearance with my defined cheekbones. I still have a round face, but my cheekbones are fairly prominent, so I consider myself a rounded heart shape.
I have a round face, chubby cheeks and a now a double chin..fun!..I usually look better with a middle part..but lately I feel like my forehead is really big..lol..I agree, with the volume around your face..sometimes when I curl my hair I feel like it makes my cheeks look even chubbier. But also have pin straight hair and sometimes when it falls too flat it just makes my hair disappear And my full moon face come out. lol
I love you all collaborating! I have watched Justin since the beginning and I found you just this year. You both had great tips! I am ready to cut my hair off and thank you for giving the tips for round faces, I can use them.

Wow! Two of my favourite UA-camrs! I live in the Portland area and have been thinking of making an appointment with Justin--he's downtown and I hate driving there but...I really need his expertise as I have longish hair and just don't know what's flattering especially at my age. Please do more of these--how about for an ageing face that has changed shape but doesn't want short hair? Thanks for a great video.
(Mrs. Mark) What a great video! I absolutely loved all of your pointers, and you used so many great pictures of many fabulous hairstyles to illustrate your tips! I would complain that you don't leave the pictures up long enough, but that's the great thing about a video; you can pause it and look at the pictures as long as you need, and then move on when you are ready! As far as some of the negative comments regarding the use of all of these lovely models/celebrities, perhaps those who are criticizing your choices should consider what some of these ladies would look like with no make-up on and bad hair! Sure, they have great bone structure to begin with, but I have been surprised many times when I have seen pictures of celebrities in their "natural" state. Which proves your point that a good haircut (along with the right makeup) can make a huge difference!
I have short curly fine hair that I just don't know what to do with. It always flattens out after I have styled it or by the time I get to work my curls are all tight and too close to my head so I look ridiculous (in my opinion). Most hair products weigh my hair down. Help!!!
So...for months now I have been deliberating over getting bangs. My hair is extremely fine & almost past my butt :) And my hair is getting thinner bc of age...I am guessing, lol! The thing is, I have a round/diamond face...meaning my forehead is wide with a straight hairline but not as wide as my cheekbones. I normally wear my long thin hair up which makes my face center-stage. which isn't flattering at all! I also do a side-part. What do you think of longer side-swept bangs?...and how would I get volume in those?
Lavender, I'm surprised that you keep your hair that long if it is extremely thin. Mine looks less thin if I keep it not much longer than shoulder length.
Yes agree if your hair is that super thin perhaps you should cut off the length a bit so it looks thicker that way your hair could naturally spring up around your face make it more flattering for you
This is great advice thank you - I have to say though the guy giving hair advice in the middle of a Forrest with no context 🤣🤣🤣 really made me laugh for some reason - like Bear Grylls giving us hair care tips on a survival excursion in the jungle 😆 love it! 👍
I hope that you can create a rotating stable of plus -sized and mature models that you can offer a free hairstyle to each year in exchange for taking their photograph and using them as models in these videos. Your "humidity hair" looks awesome! 😉 I'm trying to embrace my humidity frizz ("beach hair") by not being too paranoid about humidity & find the right products that still allow me softness & movement without too much frizz.
Renee that is a great way to do it! The best advice I can give when it comes to humidity is to embrace your natural texture. If you have wavy or curly hair and you straighten it and expect it to stay straight, you are fighting a battle that you will not win no matter what expensive products you buy. Let the hair live in the way it wants to live and use products to reduce frizz and maintain softness (just like you said)! Bravo!
Thank you for the information. This has been the most helpful video! As for myself, I have a round face with pointed chin and really thin fine flat hair so I struggle to create volume to the sides or the top. It doesn’t help that my hairline is really far up my forehead. Any tips on how to mitigate this specifically?
What you’re describing is an oval face shape. Maybe pull all your hair back and take a pic straight on to see if your face is actually round or oval. If you look at how Carol Tuttle draws shapes on faces for DYT facial profiling and apply that to the pic of your own face, that can help you profile your own face.
I'm the same as you, fine hair (with lots of density, but since it's thin, it's too soft), very smooth (so no volume or texture) and a very high hairline (esp deep on the sides). Having oily skin just worsens it (wearing a bang, that could've helped cover this, is not very convinient). I'm going to try short haircut in the nearest time, about ear long, so that I'd still have some lenght to play with to create volume on the top. Since the hair will be shorter, they'll be lighter. That's one option for this case. Use products that add texture to your hair (I tried a spray with a salt, it's good one to start with). Another option is to style your hair like in this video on 14:24. A thin bang, elongated on the sides = covers your hairline, and a volume on the top (can be replaced by top ponytail [if you wear you hair long] or head scarfs with a tie, again, on the top) = adds volume/lenght to the top of your head. Also try to wear long & narrow stylish earrings (for the lenght follow the rules Gabi mentions for the front hair locks! The jawline/chin. Try earrings that widen to the bottom, triangle shapes, feathers, tassels, raindrop shapes). Good luck!
I love this information. My daughter has a rounder face. She is always looking for a new hair style. I have an oblong face and a high forehead. My hair is fine. I live in New Orleans, LA. humidity is such a problem for my hair. Can you give me any tips. Thanks so much!🌻🙂
I have no idea how to describe my face shape other than round on top and all the way to the cheeks, pudgy and then getting pointy at the chin… Is that a face shape? Lol I am also 57 with fine thin hair. Right now I have a longer style with very few layers except around the face… Who is my stylist? My daughter , of course, who has been a stylist for 20 years! So I pretty much have to go in, sit down and say do what you can..lol I am so tempted to get a long bob but I also have very straight hair and I am scared it will make my roundish, chubby pointy chin face look even rounder…🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣 What do you think?
11:03, was such a revelation for me ! Thank you thank you thank you Gabi & Justin :) Now I've definitely found the courage to introduce myself to those thin wispy bangs 😍
I have been watching youtube videos of Justin Hickox for about a year and I really enjoy his content. Justin had a video that referenced you Glam Girl Gabi and so I am popping over from his video. I have to say that I really like this collab that you two have done, it was great to have both of you bounce off of each other, I learned a ton from this video.
Hey!!! I agree with you! Justin’s content is unbelievable and when he agreed to do a collaboration with me I just about died because I adore watching his channel and had no connection with him prior to reaching out. He is just SO down to earth. I am so happy that you learned a lot from this video. That’s what my channel is all about! I want to make hair easier for people and explain concepts in a way that make more sense. Welcome 🤗
You had me until you mentioned parting in the center because that has the complete and opposite effect. As others have mentioned, you only show a round face in the thumbnail, then proceed to use much slimmer faces throughout the video, which completely defeats the purpose of this video.
Ive always been looking for korean hairstyles that are trendy for round femalw face shapes. But all I see are very outdated ones or celebritys who have a oval face shape. Im also looking for trendy korean hair colors.
I have reached out to so many different stylists, and nobody seems to have an answer for me. January 2021...almost the entire month I had C***D 19. Ever since then, my hair has changed. I have wavy to curly hair, fine texture, low porosity...but LOTS of it. Since January, my hair does the weirdest thing. One day it curls fine and all is good...the next day it fall flat and straight. I wash my hair typically once a week...so it's not that. I have been through every product I can find trying to help my hair. I am allergic to sulfates and my hair HATES silicones...HELP! I used to love my hair...it was my crown...now it's falling out in hand fulls and just even the texture feels funky...kind of dry and straw-like. It stopped growing like it used to. I don't know what to do. Any suggestions to pandemic survivors whose hair took a beating?? Love this video BTW..may have to bring back my shag and bangs lol.
My hairdresser has clients who had Covid and then experienced hair loss. She said they eventually got new hair growth, so it doesn't appear to be permanent. Hang in there, girl.
Just a matter of opinion intended here, nothing more. The only true “round” face is the pretty girl at approx 4.04. It could be helpful to show her with the types of cuts spoken about. Maybe before/after pics. The scenery in your videos are spectacular! Thank you for sharing both.
Around 6:15 when Justin said curtain bangs and center part could be counterintuitive depending on your hair type...what hair types could be counterintuitive?
You need to add height in order to balance a round face (give the illusion that it has length) so if you have thick hair that’s wide and super flat on top, when you have a center part, sometimes it can give the illusion that the face is wider then it actually is. Does that make sense? In my experience though, I find round face clients like a Center part very often
@@GlamGirlGabi yes definitely, thank you!!! I have fine hair but A LOT of fine hair so it appears to be pretty full but I think I should be fine. It can get a little flat on top but despite looking full it doesn’t get too wide looking on the sides.
Don't some plus sized/round faced people need to make their head look bigger to balance with the rest of the body? I tend to feel like i have a little head on a big body and I want to add fullness to my hair.
How do I explain how to not give me a “mushroom” look with my lob? The suggestion was for me to shave the lower part of my head…while it looks cool…I am not bold enough to do that… plus other hairstylists have given me a cut where I didn’t have that problem.
I love middle parts, side parts make my hair look thin and makes my face look really round. Middle parts and blunt , curtain or face framing makes my face more in balans and gives the illusion of having thick hair even if my hair is fine and long
I dont know if im oval or round... but I do know that middle part doesn't look good on me with long hair, looks weird. It could be because my hair is flat on top and gets s little wavy below my chin.
At some point I really started disliking the fact that hairdressers were always trying to hide my face-shape by putting hair in it.. A round face is beautiful, like any other. You just need to own it ;)
The main thing that makes a round face look slimmer I think is when bangs are started further back in a V especially if u have a short forehead! It elongates the face !!
I admire both of you, my fellow professionals! SO many good tips; especially the sheer bangs! Volume on top and back are my crowning glory finishing hair on round cherub faces. Long hair is effective if the hair isn’t puffy from the ears down to stretch that box or width in round and square faces in addition to top volume and back poof above the occipital. Lots of layers that collapse the hair to lay closer to the jowls and neck and clavicle is appealing. Think of a round circle ⭕️ with an elongating line over stretching the centerline ❣️👱♀️
Hey! For finer hair, I would go for a bob that is cut two inches below the chin. I would also integrate a deep side part so that you get lots of volume on the top of the head.
For long hair, I would keep the hair blunt at the back and add LOTS of face framing layers. If you do a fringe, make sure you can see through it so it doesn’t cut off your forehead and give you a more rounded look to the face. You can do a side swept or even a curtain fringe if you like to part in the middle and if it suits you.
The thing is there is no real advice for curly hair my texture 3b which means that I have ringlets and I can't manage long curly hair as a student so I have to go for short haircuts but I just can't with the volume you just can't manage it I dunno which hairstyle to go for precisely with that my hairline is not rounded its kinda heart shaped maybe and then the cheekbones are wide enough ..
How do you get your part to stay in the middle? I tried all through my teens and twenties to train it to part in the middle but it just wouldn't stay there. if i moved my head too quickly the part goes right back to where it was on the side. The hair that normally would be to one side of the part stands up when trying to part in the middle and every stray breeze pushes it back over again to where it wants to lay naturally. i finally just gave up on it!
Train it into place with hair clips... let it stay dirty for a few days to a week whilst you do this. I used to do mine in Winter so I could hide the hairclips under a beanie hat (and the awkward length if its anything like mine lol). Once you start washing it create the part again with a comb, clip it tight, or use a hairdryer to continue training it in the right direction. Your parting will eventually 'learn' to stay this way. X
Im so happy that you enjoyed it Natasha. Justin is my favourite content creator because he provides SO much value. I’m honoured he’s here with us today.
Hello! I really loved this wayyy helpful content!! Could u plz suggest me what haircut should I get as I have a round face with thin and long hair which ends at the waist. Actually I don't want to cut them short so plz tell if there's any haircut for long hair which can help a round face appear slimmer.
I am so happy that you found this video helpful. If you have fine hair, you don't want to over layer the back especially if your hair is super long because it will appear too thin. What you could do is get lots of face framing layers through the front of the hair to break up the lines and create more angles in the face.
@@GlamGirlGabi so according to you I should get layers just below the chin right as it helps to narrow the face instead of adding width to a round face right
i think i am exacly the same as you , my face is round , i know its not long, but its not fully round cos i have like a chin . so i have no idea wtf i should do.
Nope. Round faces need not be of any other shape except round. If people can't deal with it, too bad for them. Wear you hair like you want to girl, and don't them pigeon hole you
Round face shapes are still beautiful face shapes. The intention was not to pigeon hole anyone. It was just to show some options for round faces that are typically very flattering.
I had that feedback a few times. I’m going to keep looking for better examples and do a follow up video. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate all the feedback I get in order to make the channel better.
May I know ur face shape, ur information was great round face always looks younger, this is from India. how to you style diamond face shape heart shape face with prominent cheek bones and jaw line I have mix of heart and diamond
Lmao I dont want my face to look slimmer. I like my round and cute face. What I want is something that fits well with my faceshape. A harmony so to speak
Middle parts usually make my hair look flatter and curtain bangs don't stick in my hair because its naturally very straight. 😅 I feel personally more retro hair styles flatter me better.
Hello! I have one question, that is, I have a round chubby face and thin but naturally wavy hair (currently I have short hair), can I do see-through bangs (long length and not like the short ones) along with side curtain bangs? Will it suit me?
Sure...but I'm not a celebrity with stylists following me around 30 seconds before a photo....so how about for the rest of us without personal stylists daily...and about 2- 8 hours later? Is there anything dealing with reality out there? Also - I don't have $150 to spend on product every month.... Anyone know of reality hairstyle videos out there?
I find middle parts make my face look rounder and wider. I prefer side parts because the imbalance of the two sides of my hair give the illusion of a slimmer face and bring the attention to my eyes rather than my cheeks.

Bravo!
I agree! I wish that I had any kind of "bend" in my hair...embrase that humidity hair!
Love this video! I learned a lot- I just found your channel and have been binge watching all the videos 😂
A girl called my middle part a “trailer park part” when I was young in school and I’ve been scarred ever since! Still rocking a middle part @ 30 😂
Thanks so much!🌻🙂
I have no idea how to describe my face shape other than round on top and all the way to the cheeks, pudgy and then getting pointy at the chin…
Is that a face shape? Lol
I am also 57 with fine thin hair.
Right now I have a longer style with very few layers except around the face…
Who is my stylist?
My daughter , of course, who has been a stylist for 20 years!
So I pretty much have to go in, sit down and say do what you can..lol
I am so tempted to get a long bob but I also have very straight hair and I am scared it will make my roundish, chubby pointy chin face look even rounder…🤷♀️🤷♀️🤣
What do you think?
11:03, was such a revelation for me !
Thank you thank you thank you Gabi & Justin :)
Now I've definitely found the courage to introduce myself to those thin wispy bangs 😍
Okay, I'm going swimming while talking about the best brewed coffee in my hometown you guys. It's posssibruuuu.
Loved this information! Watch Justin channel and now yours. Amazing!
Thanks Turra! So happy that you enjoyed this video!
I have curly hair 👩🦱 meaning lots of volume. I need to know how to style round face 3 b/c curly hair
This was soooo good!! Great video with a lot of informative tips!! Well done both of you! 👏🏻👏🏻
Thanks so much Sharon!! I'm so glad that you found it informational!
Thanks a ton Sharon!! That’s my moms name too btw! You must be cool! 😉
@@justinhickox I am! ☺️
Agreed, this was great! Great detail and examples and the outdoor settings were fun!
I type the word how to have a nice hairstyle for a shoulder length( specially me who is a bit plus size and in my 50’s).
Wish I could afford to do anything with my hair today in this economy. I haven't been able to get my hair professionally done in years
I’m a big fan of Justin! 💗
Ive always been looking for korean hairstyles that are trendy for round femalw face shapes. But all I see are very outdated ones or celebritys who have a oval face shape. Im also looking for trendy korean hair colors.
What if you have curly natural hair. I have a deva cut now, but I am always wondering what shape it should be.
How long is your hair Ann? And would you consider your face to be as full as the model in the thumbnail picture?
Is curly girls are always left out. 😢
Very interesting subject matter! Love that you are from Canada too! Subscribed!
AAH! I love that you are also Canadian! Welcome to the channel! I am happy to have you here.
Can round faces look good in wisky bangs??? I really want wisky bangs but im not confident with my face shape
I find that mid parts do not work for me because I have a long bumpy nose. It instead emphasizes my nose😢. So I like a side part or sometimes no part.
So, what if you have a round face, but thinner hair?
Just a matter of opinion intended here, nothing more. The only true “round” face is the pretty girl at approx 4.04. It could be helpful to show her with the types of cuts spoken about. Maybe before/after pics. The scenery in your videos are spectacular! Thank you for sharing both.
I really appreciate the feedback and this is definitely something I’m going to try to improve significantly in my next videos. Thanks for watching!
I have a round face, but my skin is oily, so if I have any hair touching my face it'll get greasy. I wish I could to a fringe or face framing layers
@@sarahluvburkhardt5755 Have you tried this style of hair on yourself? You may like it if your hair doesn't have that triangle effect.
As i get older (64) I have thining hair along the front hairline. My hair has always been thin now it looks as if I am balding. HELP! any suggestions
Hey Gabi,
Do curtain bangs work for an oval shape too?
They definitely do!
Yes
What can I do if I have curly hair?
I thought you guys would go over color placement too
Mind blown 🤯
At some point I really started disliking the fact that hairdressers were always trying to hide my face-shape by putting hair in it.. A round face is beautiful, like any other. You just need to own it ;)
Bobs: Judging by the pictures, the key to successfully pulling off a bob with a round face is having a sharp, pointy little chin. So not round. 😐
Great veido, thank you for sharing!
wish you used actual round faces for this
The main thing that makes a round face look slimmer I think is when bangs are started further back in a V especially if u have a short forehead! It elongates the face !!
@Glam Girl Gabi I just love your videos!
What about a pixie? I want a pixie but I'm plus size with a round face

Hey dear ...I have less volume and round face ...what kind of haircut and bangs should I go for ? @ Glam Girl Gabi
Hey! For finer hair, I would go for a bob that is cut two inches below the chin. I would also integrate a deep side part so that you get lots of volume on the top of the head.
@@GlamGirlGabi can you plz suggest long hair cuts ?
For long hair, I would keep the hair blunt at the back and add LOTS of face framing layers. If you do a fringe, make sure you can see through it so it doesn’t cut off your forehead and give you a more rounded look to the face. You can do a side swept or even a curtain fringe if you like to part in the middle and if it suits you.
Love Justin!
What about someone who has a round face and big nostrils
Fantastic videos thanks guys
@@eleanorrhodes1473 Ohhh thanks. I'll try that
This was so informative!! Thank you! 😊😊
@@GlamGirlGabi so according to you I should get layers just below the chin right as it helps to narrow the face instead of adding width to a round face right
Round face hairstyles that are super flattering for women
The thing is im 14 with a mix of round and slightly v shapish but i have a sharp jawline im so confused about my fave shape
i think i am exacly the same as you , my face is round , i know its not long, but its not fully round cos i have like a chin . so i have no idea wtf i should do.
Look up heart shape face like Jennifer Anniston!
@@trickycoolj YESS THANK YOUU
Great video but I have super curly short hair. What do I do? LOL
Thanks for the video!
Many of these people don't have round faces. They are diamond shaped. Ugh
I had that feedback a few times. I’m going to keep looking for better examples and do a follow up video. Thank you for taking the time to comment. I appreciate all the feedback I get in order to make the channel better.
May I know ur face shape, ur information was great
round face always looks younger, this is from India.
how to you style diamond face shape heart shape face with prominent cheek bones and jaw line
I have mix of heart and diamond
Lmao I dont want my face to look slimmer. I like my round and cute face. What I want is something that fits well with my faceshape. A harmony so to speak
Middle parts usually make my hair look flatter and curtain bangs don't stick in my hair because its naturally very straight. 😅 I feel personally more retro hair styles flatter me better.
What about people with short hair??
I definitely can't have a middle part, I've got double calf flicks 😅😅
Everyone simp on middle part but i have my hands on off-mid part.
