I've never completed a model anything. I messed around a bit as a kid but never did one from start to finish. I'm 42 now. This video inspired me to try again. Who knows, maybe It's a new hobby I'll enjoy.
@@AlexModeling The B-2 is more expensive. $2 billion per plane. There's no other military plane that comes close to the cost of the B-2. Even the deluxe model A380 is less than $450million (but head of state A380s could easily cost at least 33% more than the high-end model A380). The only plane more expensive than the B-2 is the new Air Force One. That's rumored to be over $2.6billion (double that because TWO planes are actually being bought) largely because of special electronic equipment. It has to have special safety features (gotta be able to survive World War III!) AND double as a command/control vehicle so it will be more than just a "modified 747." Air Force One technically ISN'T military since it's a head of state plane but still--! Yes, the F-35 program OVERALL could be the most expensive plane program in recent history but there will probably be at least 3,000 of these planes manufactured. And there are other fighters out there more expensive per plane than the F-35 is NOW. The Rafale, EuroFighter Typhoon, Su-57 are comparably expensive PER PLANE (averaging closer to $110million-$120million a plane) but their technology is generally 4.5 generation. The costs for those planes will probably never significantly diminish because there just aren't many of them being built. When a fighter program has fewer than 900 planes built, it's generally considered small-run and they'll be lucky to break-even in costs IF the production run doesn't exceed at least 600 units. The F-35 is at least a generation ahead in technology for (at most) the same cost per plane as the 4.5 generation fighters. There are going to be many more F-35s built and the unit cost per plane will go down ($90million looks believable; below that probably won't happen realistically) as production ramps up. It will never be as cheap as the F-16 was in the 1980s but nothing will be that "relatively inexpensive" because of inflation and the cost of the electronics being put into the plane which are still the most expensive items of the plane by far. They were also building at least 120 F-16s per year for much of the 1980s and there's no plane project RIGHT NOW that has such a high level of production partly because A) they're all much more expensive than the 1980s brand F-16 to build and B) the level of sophistication of today's plane and their electronics is much higher, too. A LOT of air forces are shrinking to as little as 1/4 the size they were in the 1980s! Don't believe all the negative hype. I'm not a huge fan of the F-35 program but the media loves to spin negative articles about these things because negativity sells.
Fantastic work as ever Alex. Your explanations were great as well. As I said once before, you truly are the Da Vinci and Michelangelo of fine scale modeling. The only difference is I don’t think those guys smiled as much as you do.
Nice video and incredible build. I've currently have shifted my radar towards 1/72 and this has inspired me to scratch build more. Killer paint scheme. Why do they have the erratic paint lines ?
Umm he hearted it but never responded so I will answer that for you. I'm assuming this is true since I have the f35b model not the a model but the doors, wheels, and cockpit are all glued in. Unfortunately there are no moving parts. You could however possibly mod the wheels so they move.
I don't have an airbrush but I am planning on building my f-35a lightning II and painting it by hand and then send a picture of the model kit to you just so you can give me some pointers love your videos brother.
I guess one nice thing about building this F-35 must've been the side stick n throttle...so no fiddly centre stick piece to worry about. I loath building cockpits especially the instrument panel, having big hands does not help what so ever
Fantastic job Al really well done . I've been looking at the kitty hawk 1/48th scale of this wingy thing. Really well done. Hope you stay safe with work through the festive period. Have a cracking Christmas and new year .

I know you can do it! Just go for it! And above all, have fun and SMILE!
Thanks for sharing your techniques and information about some of the items used to build this model!
My pleasure!
Beautiful work. Now I want build it myself.
Nice OTB adventure. It says stealthy and real upon all the care you applied to this kit. Very, Very sharp and authentic.
I never thought this one would be so hard to achieve in this level of work. My compliments to you Alex, great model and great video as usual.
It was a comissioned build for free for a friend so i wanted it to be a bit extra
No whisky Alex? I think this one will drive me to drink when I have a go (hopefully!). Fantastic work, great video. All the best.
Cheers!! 🙂🙂👍👍
I finally get time to sit and watch this.
The F-35 sure is a pretty looking thing isn't it.
Nice work Alex, I'm sure he'll be very pleased with it.
Sure hope so... F35 the most expensive weapon in the world.. pilot helmet alone costs 400.000 dolars... i have to sell helmets!

Great work Alex. Such attention to detail is amazing.
The key to modelling is to keep improving. You my friend, get better with each build. Bravo
Thanks Brother. Hope all is well with you on your side of the ocean

Hola amigo! Me alegra que te guste! Saludos!
Great job Alex! Well done
Please please put an 1/32 or 1/48 F-16 on your next kit build. Curious to see how you would detail it.
I have a 1/48.. Tamiyia
@@AlexModeling Do that puppy next lol.
Awesome work looks great top job mate
Thanks!
Always a pleasure 😉! How much did you let the paint dry before polishing it? Very interesting approach...
2 to 3 hours and a bit of hair dryer just to be sure it was cured! :)
Nice video and incredible build. I've currently have shifted my radar towards 1/72 and this has inspired me to scratch build more. Killer paint scheme. Why do they have the erratic paint lines ?
Radar deflection!
Hello! what is your proportion paint/ flow improved/ diluyent? and your airbrush is a 0,2? Thanks!
Cool build mate 👍
Thanks! :)
p
Great job again Alex. One question: in your opinion, is the Academy version the most detailed kit of the f 35 in 1/72?
Honestly i only know this one... iy was my first modern stealth... but this one is very good being the best or not! :)
Does the canopy close? Do the gears move? Do the bomb bay doors close? Overall, very nice
Umm he hearted it but never responded so I will answer that for you. I'm assuming this is true since I have the f35b model not the a model but the doors, wheels, and cockpit are all glued in. Unfortunately there are no moving parts. You could however possibly mod the wheels so they move.

Sorry for late reply. Unfortunatly the parts don't move! 🙂
@@AlexModeling Thats alright. I got this model anyways and it turned out great. Thanks!

Handbrushing... Did we that not 30 years ago... Stil I do and sometimes it gives a great feeling old school build
I been eyeing this kit
Hope you get it, enjoy it, and have fun!
I'm still waiting for my build up of this kit but I do have it to.
Fantastic job Al really well done . I've been looking at the kitty hawk 1/48th scale of this wingy thing. Really well done. Hope you stay safe with work through the festive period. Have a cracking Christmas and new year .
I think academy makes cheap and high quality models
