I grew up here. I couldn’t recognize nothing. It took him 32 years to destroy the country my soul hurts to watch it. He trashed the entire city and our people.
Those who do not know Asmara in the 1970s they are lucky, those we knew Asmara in the 1960,1970s it is very very very sad, every thing the roads are completely damaged,buildings became old, but there is hope ,we will never loose the hope that Eritrea will again flourish,it is only about time . May God bless Eritrea and its people.
I born and grow up in Gezabanda our house close to mosque beautiful view /everything change hope pray one day change better 🤔🤔

Thank you Selam Multi Media for sharing this beautiful video of Asmara. The camera man has done an excellent job of the way he took the video. The picture is very clear and shows this part of Asmara very professionally. I was born and grew up in this part of Asmara, and even though you missed my home slightly, I was able to see the places that I was playing soccer with my friends, the area were we used to hang together, the store we used to buy bread. You took me 50 years back and I remember the friends that I used to play! It reminds me of my family and friends and makes my heart sad. Thank you again and keep up the good work.

Dear Tekeste, watching this video I read your post and I was pleased because I, like you, was born in Ghezzabanda and this video brought to mind the places of my childhood where as a child I played with my friends without distinction of color learning even to speak the tiger that I still remember even if not very well anymore.
The name I use on fb is a pseudonym but my real name is Sergio I was born in Asmara (Ghezzabanda) in 1945 and left it in 1963. You talk about 50 years ago I'm a lot more than that. I was in Beghemedder Street that I saw pass on the video. However it means that we have shared the same reality the same scents the same images and I am pleased to think that we have so many common memories. Dahan t'neber Hawei

You guys are doing great job and thank you for the nostalgic memories, please keep it coming. This video started with a fitting back ground music by the legendary Yemane Baria wedi Gezabanda. I think it would have added more sentimental longing, if you could have continued with Abraham Afeworki, Tikabo ,Tekle Tesfazgi, Helen Meles, and many more great artist from Gezabanda. I missed Asmara bella. Geza banda mai jah jah where I grew. Those good old days. 😭😭😭😭😭 It is so sad to see Asmara under this condition.. 50s,60s,and 70s Asmara was called little Rome. All roads are destroyed and covered with dust, and all houses have never been painted. Stray dogs everywhere. What is going on. Can someone explain to me.

Most of you must not know what Asmara use to look like . I was born and raised till I was 15 here in Gezabanda. You could eat of’ e it’s floor and smell it’s beauty. Some y’all fools talking about “ THE CAMERA MEN DID A GOOD JOB SHOWING THE BEAUTIFUL ASMARA” NO! What you should say is, what a good job exposing the mess the country is going through. 32 years of pain . May God mercy on us. 😢
