Kirkvliet was the most surprising for me. Just came out swinging and didn’t let up. Cael always seems to have his guys ready to grind out the tough matches that are close late.
Penn State greatly outcoached Michigan. Very impressed by Dean and Kerkvliet’s composure
Penn State coaching is exceptional. Probably the best in the USA at the university level.
They don't get shaken. They stay composed and stay with what they were coached to do. They don't go off track when the match gets close. They stay with what they were coached to do. And for example Kirkvliet will have a different game plan next time they meet knowing Parris will as well.
This was one of the matches I was looking forward to as well. Kerkvliet looked like he had put on enough size to close the gap with a lot of guys, but Paris was really his first test this season. I wanted to see how he stacked up, and he did not disappoint at all. Great win for him.
Kirkvlet not a surprise. He is healthy for the first time in His college career. If he beats Stevenson that will be a surprise. The Cassioppi match will be critical for a dual win vs. Iowa.
Glad to see Nick Suriano back. Used to wreste with him when i was younger. Wish him the best
Cap 😂
@@happygolucky9314 I don't think it's cap in the wrestling world we tend to wrestle lots of people even if it's only a minuet
@@happygolucky9314 these regular people my boy
That's cool, I'm from Brazil and I like Suriano's matches
Cael is seriously on his own level 😭 pleasure watching him coach!! Wowowowow. Need a full documentary down the line cause I know rn he likes keeping things low key cause he got the formula. Different coaches are unique in there own way but Cael is seriously on his own level
We quickly forget that Kerk was that guy prior to injury. This wasn't an upset. This is a healthy Kerk doing what he does with the assistance of the great coaching & workout partners he has in the PSU room. He's right behind Gable when healthy. This is the HWT rivalry they themselves have envisioned on the top level since they were in high school.
Kerkvliet is awesome and I agree this was not an upset. He most definitely is not right behind Gable.
I think it's likely that Greg has jumped Mason--he was clearly the better wrestler--but he's nowhere near Gable. If the two wrestle and Steveson gets motivated enough, he'll major Greg; if not, he'll take him down at least 5 times.
Kerk is a really good wrestler, but he's certainly not "right behind Gable". Gable is World Champion, I'll remind you.
Agree with the comments above. Kerk is really good and may well be the best of the rest but he's not right behind Gable.
I’d be even more impressed if he won a title at 125 because you can tell he’s killing himself to make weight. He’s wrestled freestyle at about this weight and looked like he still had a good amount of muscle. Suriano just looks sucked out like I did when cutting too much weight to make 103.
He wasn't gonna beat Lee. So I feel the exact opposite. I think 133 is tougher because the competition has officially left the 125 lb division
@@payton9815 already left the 125 division? Hu? He won a title a couple years ago at 133. He has nothing to prove. And people are stuck on the Lee train like he’s unbeatable and never lost a college match lol. Ya never know. At least Suriano is no punk and decided to drop down to get revenge, win or lose.
@@williambalentine7639 rby is too good for suriano. I'm sorry but when you consistently lose to guys like Dayton fix and Austin destanto... You're not really gonna beat the top guy. 2018 couldn't beat the top 3 guys in the division. 2019 he moved up and wrestled a boring guy and had to molest the man's head gear to get a good enough grip for a takedown. However that was a clean victory imo. Fix should've been hit with stalling 4-5 times. And I'm sorry but for 2020 he definitely wouldn't have gotten past Seth gross.
@@williambalentine7639 when I say the competition left I meant Spencer got hurt. So it's an easy win for nick
@@payton9815 I think this match is going to be the story of Nick’s season-he beats them all by 1-2 points.
Suriano doesn’t look good at this weight. Brooks vs Amine was insane even though only 3-1. Amines body at times twists like its made of jelly. And it seems he’s never unable to get to a leg, off that knee pound. Very athletic. Brooks near ankle defense is really good. I can see Amine was very uncomfortable there and knew he could not rest in that position. Amines only chance of not getting scored on from there was to build his base, freeing his right ankle and scoring. Brooks did a great job of stuffing Amines head and cutting the corner whenever Amines base had nearly built up and moved his head into better position
I think he’s draining his stamina at this weight
Agreed Suriano way to small at 125
Brooks is awesome
@@justinarredondo200 Enough stamina to win 🥇
Penn state showed up today
Its hypnotic watching a Cael Sanderson team wrestle under pressure. They are just so very good at everything. Stingy, composed, ice water, smart, mid match adjustments, conditioning for freaking days (have ever seen a PSU guy gas ? or even blink in SV?) creative, relentless, enthusiastic. An example of excellence. Its not over but it is hard to see this team not putting six in the finals this year and taking the Nationals by storm.
You take on the identity of your coach. Look at Cael on the side. You can see that what he's watching he expects to happen. He never gets flustered with a call by the refs like Brand and other coaches.
Brucki shouldn't have went under Dean in the 3rd. Wow! Penn St. always comes ready to play. Seems as if they NEVER underperform their ranking. Unreal.
If you wanna be a National champ, how do you choose Iowa over Penn State?
@@johnnydam8671 I'm from Brazil but if I could choose to be part of any team it would be Penn State or Minnesota, but I would also accept to be part of Iowa because Tom Brands has my respect
Wrestling is such a mental sport; grit, determination, drive, and all the work during the week will show! Will against will.
0:10 Nick looks like Tom Hanks' kid character wearing an adult-sized suit.
If you watch the match at 184, you can see the exact moment when AB breaks Amine
Time stamp?
@@blakegrundy2600 that time stamp is during the 197lb match bro
that effort by Amine at the end was insane to hold on that leg that long. He was gassed regardless but he went for it and almost got it! Great match. 197 was awesome too.
Suriano definitely lost some muscle mass he looks mad small for 125 but he was huge for 133
He looked huge at 133 2 years ago.
@@ATS83 that’s what he said bruh 😂
@@rootless4341 uh yeah...I'm agreeing with him.
True. He’ll be alright though. True champs know how to win when it matters. He’s looked bigger in freestyle at this weight because he didn’t have to kill himself to make weight every week.
He should go 33 but doesn’t any part of rby
Nice to see Suriano pull out a win after quitting Penn State and Rutgers. He's tough he just doesn't have the coaching he need to win the hard matches.
Micic didn’t wanna go up against Lee bc he knew would put a pace on him that he couldn’t handle for 7 minutes. Micic has looked dead tired after 5 minutes in bouts that he’s kinda controlled so I had a feeling he’d sit out last night.
Micic has Covid

AB’s new nickname is Caderas de Piedra. What a finish!
Can't wait for Iowa vs Penn St. ! 🤩👍
Ragusin learned so much from that match. Call could of went anyway. RBY is beast.
Suriano looks very small at 125. 133 much better but so is the competition. Never understood that, push yourself don’t deflect. He’s one of my favorites just saying he’s to small at 125. 133 is where a lot of beasts are so….
Great match Brooks/Amine, warriors

isnt Penn State a premier wrestling program all time?
@@headintheclouds6935 huh?
@@kawikajones9436 isn't penn state a top wrestling program all time?
@@headintheclouds6935 Yes, they have been even before Cael took over but weren't winning National Championships like they are now. They were conference champs many times in the Eastern Intercollegiate Wrestling Association (EIWA) and later the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL). Joined B1G Ten in 1993 and didn't start winning NC's again until the year Cael started coaching in 2011.
47:14 that stalemate was called too quick
What are we thinking for psu iowa
unless something strange happens i don't see anyone beating penn state for the title this year
But to see all the encounters of the ncaa championship wrestling 2019 2018 2017 how should i do ?
Why does micic avoid every tough matchup? It’s literally every season.
Because he isn't as good as his ranking and he wants a good seed

@@svdii2513 Lol who told you it was weed??
Suriano definitely looks off. Prolly cutting too much weight.
Yeah it looks like that to me. Could be other reason but my first thought was the cut. Sometimes too styles make closer matches.
Yea it must be super tough for him killing himself to maintain his weight like 24/7. He looked much stronger and spry during last weekend against Malik
Hil went out there just trying not to lose by to much, hard to look good against that
Vito is going to beat the brakes off him if he wrestles like that at NCAAs
he dominates bad wrestlers and keeps the good ones from getting takedowns. That's about it. He's never been a closer against good wrestlers - he strings the match out and keeps them from scoring.
Suriano looks sooooo much smaller at 25' vs 33'.That cut must be serious.
They really gave that first takedown to rby that’s crazy to me
The boundary is a cylinder not a circle. While I agree being in bounds or not was debatable, the camera angle we see when RBY steps out is not that good. If even a sliver of Ragusin’s toe was in the cylinder, then it was in. The ref had a much better angle than us. Definitely debatable, but not outrageous by any means.
love those maize singlets. also Penn State is just too good this year
18:48 I’ve never seen RBY run tilts
Dang was hoping this was gonna be a nail bitter but then again it’s penn

It be cool if you stop skipping Bartletts matches.
As soon as Nick Lee graduates there shouldn't be anyone able to beat Beau Bartlett @ 141.........
@@norrinradd8923 100% agree.
It was a injury default within the first like 10 seconds
@@jackmcg0 Im well aware. But every time they post Penn state they always leave him out. Why not just play them all.
Good job Brooks!!!! Just like Amine wrestled for another country maybe he’ll wrestle for another weight class just to get first place.
Mmmmmm. Nice Michigan Kolat Sample 2k4’s from Cam Amine 😌
I noticed those too, didn’t know they were kolats tho. Pretty sick looking
Without Spencer Lee, PSU wins the team title this year
Spencer is great and they would still lose it
@@pirates1235 agreed, talented youth progressing beats the injury risks of the old and experienced
Even if Spencer Lee was healthy they would still 'fight tooth and nail' for 2nd place.......
No Lee and no Marineli.
@@JPerry-jw9ik And how banged up is Grandpa Kemerer? He hasn't looked like himself yet this year imo.
Well Suriano didn’t look as strong but you can tell he’s not gassing. That was a tough and committed 3rd period ride.
It was a big fight. I was for Pariss,Too bad, I love folkstyle
Coming back to this after nationals, Why didn’t they just have Berge stay up at 165? He could’ve placed and maybe even get a couple more wins at 165 than he did at 157. He beat a few other ranked guys in close matches. Only lost to Alex Marinelli of Iowa.
Carter should've been called for stalling when he backed up across the mat and out of bounds on that bear hug
Parris needs to stop talking. His mouth writes checks his wrestling can’t cash.
And where was SM and Storre? They don’t show for the biggest match of the season??
Suriano just wasted his last year going to Michigan…So disappointing the way they wrestled….smh
Ragusin should be 125 & Suriano should be 133. How can the coaches not see this?
Exactly suriano looks like a little kid. Needs at 133 sucking weight bad and it shows, he’s small, he was nice at 133 but the beasts r at 133
I love me some Nicky pushups
Rby was clearly out of bounds on that first takedown
you are right, RBY was out of bounds but Ragusin's left leg was still in bounds 12:48 and then RBY came back into bounds to get the takedown. It was in the air but still in bounds when RBY was awarded the takedown.
Wouldn’t have changed outcome
PSU wrestling: the best
I love watching suriano but if this is how he’s going to wrestle at 125 against the number 7 guy at home then he needs to bump up, this isn’t the suriano I remember
It’s either suriano or Vito at ncaa finals I don’t think glory can end up in championships my prediction 3rd and 4th kardinale Courtney or glory 5th and 6th Lamont possibly hildebrandt McKee maybe or Barnett 7th 8th toss up really maybe Ayala or Malik idk but 125 is def fun to watch tbh it’s either vito or nick maybe glory gets the upset not sure fun to predict though but I’m certain I’m almost right about that whole place finish at 125 thanks commit if want to predict your 125 placers this year
1) Suriano (unfortunately)
2) Courtney (think he will look tough through nationals again)
3) Arujao
4) Glory
5) Hildebrant (think he will continue to improve at PSU leading up to nationals)
6) Kardinale
7) Ayala (kid’s looking good, think he can beat Malik and some more of the field with Iowa style hard work)
8) DeAugustino (don’t think Malik will do well at nationals)
When I saw Hayden Zilmer give mason a tough match I knew kerk was going to pass mason this year.
Suriano needs to cut his hair.. too distracting brushing it away mid match.
Right. That’s like micic hair 3 years ago and had to wear a cap. Ended up cutting before the season was done.
Michigan is known to have a TOUGH room. But many of them look like that lack just that tiny bit of extra, that little bit of extra "omphh" that will get them the win. Amine and Brooks is an example. Suriano looks terrible! (I'm a big fan of his.) Maybe they just drive themselves too far, too much work, not enough rest. My own experience is that I was better, stronger, faster after some rest, some let-up.
Maybe the Michigan fans will shut up now with all the "tHiS iS oUr YeAr" talk lol
I still appreciate Michigan they come from so far, they've always had a good program but now they are actually a threat....... this year this team is load I don't think anyone can beat them for 2nd place
@@norrinradd8923 they won't do better than 3rd
@@libertyoutdooradventures208 Well iowa won't overtake them this year lol
@@norrinradd8923 sure they will. Michigan is 3rd at best.
@@libertyoutdooradventures208 matchups are key. Michigan took 8 of 10 bouts against Ohio State. Iowa had to go to HWT to secure the win against Ohio State.
Glad to see PSU is unbeatable again🙄
You know, watching wrestling instead of replays would be a lot better.
How does Nick Suriano get to select a new school every year? Apparently, you can get instant eligibility nowadays?
Sean Faust at 3:33
1:00:47 nice grab by blue on yellow hott
At 125 wait class I have never seen so much pad cake hands go on. It's driving me crazy.
They need to stop letting the refs review their own calls. What’s the point, they almost never overturn
0:01 Im sorry guys but can we get a better picture for Suriano, he looks like he's about to deal me meth
I genuinely believe a healthy lee majors suriano 11 points or more
I’m saying glory and Vito in the finals
Well, he ain't healthy. Why do you think Lee called it quit this season? He wasn't going to win the title. He only won it last season because the weight class was extremely weak. By the quarters at the NCAAs, it was clear that he wasn't the same. In other words, hypotheticals are useless.
That's crazy talk. Lee hasn't majored ANY of his national finalist competitors. Look it up. Winning a close match against an All American is a far cry from being beaten by 11 points by a fellow national champ. Wrestlers also have off nights.
@@znhait agreed. He isn't healthy and is running from Suriano.
Lee not here no more if I'm Nick I'm going 33
Marti*nn.D seemed like he bet against himself in that one...
I think Roman would have beat nick.
Um NO ONE is beating RBY!!!
Why does the commentator keep calling them Penn "States"?
Max Dean is another weird one for me.
4-2 win over #22, 10-1 win over #14, 9-6 win over #13, 6-4 win over #10, and a 3-2 loss to #3. Seems to me he shouldn't be ranked as high as #2.
Just looks really underwhelming. Maybe it's the adjustment to the strength of 197 vice 184, but he hasn't looked #2 quality to me.
He’s consistent, just won a big ten title
This didn't age well
Something tells me Suriano didn’t really try against hildebrandt or he just wasn’t at his best he mauled Malik easily and he is def not no slouch in the 125 ib weight class I think suriano toyed with hildebrandt
That wouldn’t make sense in a big dual meet like this where bonus points play a huge part I think this is the first real competitions 125 nicks faced
@@freeninj1369 I think Heiselman can beat Hildebrandt. I think Penn State had a plan to make sure that Suriano couldn't major Hidebrandt, and it worked.
put some respect on Hildebrandt's name. He's a three-time qualifier with 2 AA finishes, and is a 2x MAC champ. Heinselman's best finish at B1G is 4th and has 2 career wins at NCAAs.
Michigan is right there with penn state they need to clean up some sloppy techniques and finish their takedowns big tens is going to be insane
This is a dual. Penn state will clean house in tournament setting.
Michigan just can’t clutch to win the big match. Even the matches they were favored or dominating they found ways to lose. Massa has a body lock to get the winning takedown and goes out of bounds, amine in on a High C and is 90% there to get the takedown and gets out wrestled, brucki is controlling the match and gets ridden out and taken down in OT, Parris gets outwrestled by a guy he has dominated. Suriano even looked flat. I get PSU are some of the best wrestlers in the world and I get it’s not easy by any means but when you’re an Olympic bronze medalist, you have to finish that takedown. Penn St. clearly wants it more than Michigan.
@@johnfraleee it’s coaching. Penn state has a system and it’s working
@@chriskarsseboom2200 i dont kno about all that
@@johnfraleee when you’re that close coaching comes into play. No doubt Sanderson is the best
Brucki got robbed. Should have been a stall call in the third.
All of us in NJ thought Suriano had a chance of being a 4X NCAA champion until Gilman made him look like a 6th grade schoolboy. Then Lee in 2018 just hammered the poor guy. If the ref hadn't stopped the match in the NCAA finals with only 9 seconds left Fix would have easily won the 2019 NCAA final - so NO - we are not impressed at all any longer. I think he now has 9 college level losses.
theres 2 things we can say about that 2019 match, Nick grabbed the headgear and fix stalled a majority of the match. Could have gone either way. With Lee out, nicks probably going to win it all
@@payton9815 This is Pat Glory's year! He beat Arujau and he's on fire right now. The 2nd spot is between Arujau and Suriano but I think Nick is destined for a 3rd place finish.

Suriano is such a boring wrestler, makes you miss Lee @125.
He's not as boring (or frustrating) as Daton Fix. Dude will go hoss against lesser competition but seemingly always tries to win a 1-0 match against tough competition. One of the more frustrating wrestlers out there because you know he's better than that, just won't let it rip in big matches most of the time.
