2024 Maruti Swift : Is this still fun enough with the AMT automatic & new Z series petrol engine?

  • Can the new Swift be enjoyable over a set of hills? The AMT makes your life easier and the new Z engine is super frugal. But can the combination justify the sporty appeal of the "Swift" brand name?

    What a shame !
    This car is an utter disappointment from all sides/angles [Engine / interiors / alloys/ Pricing ] ... Everything is a downgrade 😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬😡🤬
    International one is slightly better.. that's the only thing!
    Front looks like a pressure cooker lid!

    Interiors look so outdated (couldn't you bring the international version one) Indian one is dull looking dashboard {International one has white one which is marginally better.. but still is lackluster }

    Alloys are also cheaply done as compared to the international one. Why Indian market gets poor looking and poor quality ones 😡

    i20 is a gem 💎, it has superb bose sound system, Sunroof, way way way way way more spacious. Has armrests, more powerful engine, looks stunning

      the fact that this new swift is most selling car in india speaks volumes about how good they studied the segment customers.... customers again proved that they need more mileage under brand name of swift.. IF a person wants to tick other boxes also he needs to go for baleno or wagon r 1.2.. Exter is also a best bet in this price.. maruti is trying to bridge gap between EV competition with mileage figures

    Having test driven both vehicles, I can confidently tell you not to get the Fronx over the Swift especially if you enjoy driving. The Fronx handles differently, its a heavier car, its less maneuverable, it leans out as you corner it and its seat positioning is more akin to an SUV. Even the engine at low revs is very unresponsive compared to the Swift and you have to wait for the turbo to kick in. So if you are going uphill, you need to floor the accelerator to keep the revs high in the Fronx in order for the turbo to function. Whereas in the Swift, press your foot on the pedal even lightly and the car responds immediately. Its a joy to drive on the hills. If you don't believe me, test drive both vehicles and see for yourself.

      But but but.. did you drive the new Swift with the Z series? The older engine was peppier..

      @@91Wheels It depends. The new engine felt peppier to me at speeds below 80 kmph. Shifting from second to third it actually feels like a turbo engine with the burst of acceleration you get. But the older engine had a lot more grunt at speeds above 80 kmph. You could go faster with it. This is expected. By keeping the engine displacement the same 1.2 L and removing a cylinder, the bore and got longer which produces more more torque at the lower end.
