for real. when visions came out i saw her at a tiny venue in minneapolis and afterwards i got to hang with her and asked why she doesnt play any halfaxa and she said she wont again because they are too hard to play live which is understandable. its her most layered complex album.

You can't blame Montreal on the french language debate. Montreal is in Quebec which is the only province that is officially declared as a french speaking one. A lot of Quebecers don't like this feeling of invasion from English people, you can't blame them all that much. I agree with you, if you speak english in MTL you can sometimes get rough responses. I fluently speak French so I haven't really lived it as you may have.

I will always respect that she has always been so open about the fact that she faked it till she made it so to speak. While it can be self-deprecating, it shows how well she learned how to engineer & produce to make up for those "weaknesses" in her music. It was better that she knew nothing really & just had to figure it all out in the name of art.
