This video is an opinion and in no way should be construed as statements of fact. Scams, bad business opportunities, and fake gurus are subjective terms that mean different things to different people. I think someone who promises $100K/month for an upfront fee of $2K is a scam. Others would call it a Napoleon Hill pitch.

Speaking from personal experience sports betting can absolutely become addictive. I was so hooked I nearly lost my home. Thankfully I finally beat that demon when my partner announced we were going to have our first child which was the kick in the teeth I needed.

@@cordan305 Im partially wanting to believe that only because unlike alcoholism/drugs it doesn't physically affect you. Addiction might be a personal problem to a large extent, but having a crack dealer on every corner is still not okay. It takes advantage of people who are vulnerable and ultimately hurts society by taking away what could otherwise be good people who would do good things for the society. A society is built and only as good as the people running and participating in it.

This is essentially the next level of gambling. There are UA-cam videos on gambling addiction in the UK (Gambling Addiction & Me: The Real Hustler - 2017) and back when they were made they showed bookmakers' and betting shops on virtually every corner. It's sickening.. Now, hey.. you don't have to leave your house. Using BTC to deposit and gamble is completely integrated and streamlined on the platforms. And since they are outside main jurisdictions, no one can stop it.

The main issue I see is that a huge percentage of Twitch's audience are minors. They're not of legal age to gamble, because society doesn't believe that they have the mental and emotional capacity for "personal responsibility". But for some reason, Twitch was okay with minors getting to gamble vicariously through their favourite streamers, on unregulated sites that are under no legal requirement to adhere to fair representations. Your favourite streamer might be making crazy-ass bets that make no sense, because their contract literally covers any losses they incur, while still paying out their winnings. They might be winning every single spin on slots or the roulette wheel because the game is rigged in their favour to make it look like on average people win more than they lose (simply untrue in any casino, absolutely untrue in an unregulated one). These things are going to seriously entice minors into thinking that gambling is a legitimate means of income, particularly on games of chance (after all, if you 100% know what you're doing, poker and sports betting *can* be legitimate means of income, but slots or table games never can). And because a lot of these sites aren't regulated, there's nothing stopping minors from signing up, buying a bunch of crypto to gamble with and gambling away all their money (or stealing/borrowing money from other people and gambling away all of that).
Most of these things would be 100% illegal if the casinos were regulated under for example US law. A US casino cannot intentionally misrepresent your odds of winning, they can't even allow minors into the casino, and they can't imply that people can make a living on games of chance.

You have made me see the light in that it really does not belong on Twitch, or really any other platform. Gambling is one of the most addicting things there is, and ruins lives. It should be done with expendable income for entertainment only, never to try and actually MAKE money, that is just a possible biproduct, but in the long run an impossible feat.

Not defending it, I’m as happy as the next guy, the reason it got a pass was gambling broadcasts are an established thing (ie World Series of poker) and twitch is about games which does to some extent include games of chance. It was kinda within the ballpark of what could be seen as acceptable even if imo it never was acceptable. I am pretty hardline on gambling but I get why it took a lot to move the needle.

You're essentially flushing your own hard earned money down the drain while watching a random number generator output a bunch of random numbers. Some of the numbers make you win but most make you lose. You know this before you even sit down. What exactly is the appeal of this? That you might, against the odds, temporarily win some money before inevitably losing it again?
