Great video; this worked! Two notes: 1. Might mention that "dummy plug" just covers the fourth screw. 2. On older Ryobi 40V batteries, look for 3V GND and RST. They are in a different place on older motherboards. I noticed you jumped "RST" and the lone contact next to it. My "RST" was down in the corner among many others. Right next to "RST" was "3VGND" or something like that. Jumping RST to that did the reset. BTW, On one battery I didn't need to push the button to reset it; it went on its own as soon as the jumper connected. Overall, you saved me some money on multiple batteries. All work now. Thanks!
Great video I did exactly what you said to do and it fixed my battery. Thank you so much for that last "push the button at the same time" instruction!!!

5:44 The jumper reset my battery. Low use. Just used one day and would not charge. Can’t believe that reset isn’t built into the button. Hold for 5 seconds or something. Thank you so much for this straight forward video!
It worked great! Those pointers about the indicator lights helped out. Your video was so helpful I didn't even need to keep watching it over again to make sure I didn't miss a step. The battery is now working and charging. Thanks.
Fantastic. Everyone in the family was amazed that I fixed it. 😀I didn't need to hold the button. It flashed one upon reset. But this will happen again. That's the best part of your video and the bonus tip. I have a lineup similar to yours with 6 batteries. BTW, I had 2 dummy plugs. After trying to pry them from the edge I realized the best method was to use a small head Phillips and maul them through the middle while twisting. Within 30 seconds that enabled enough leverage to yank them out.
That's wonderful. So happy 😊 another battery will live to do additional work and not end up scrapped. Thank you so much for sharing your success!! Have a wonderful weekend.
I watched your video and read the comments and tried it. Nothing worked. But then I used my tweezers (pointy tips vs flat) and stuck them in the holes at the same time and pushed down a little. That made the lights turn on and then the single light flash. If it wasn’t for your video I would never have tried it. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your experience 😊. I am very happy it worked out well for you. Just shows, there's always something new to learn. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you! Worked for me just with the paper clip jump and didn't need to hold the button. I needed to use my Ryobi lawn mower this weekend and have already ordered another battery, but it didn't arrive as it was supposed to two days ago. I'm glad I found your video. 👍👍
It worked! As perfect as explained! Told me the correct tool to use, so I bought it at harbor freight and what to do to perl or slice label, dummy screw the whole video is perfectly explained. Thank you for saving me 100 buck! Seaside heights nj!
This worked. On mine I didn’t have to press the button, just made contact with the RST inside. Fashioned a paperclip to look like yours, worked perfectly. Thank you!
After watching and trying all the other nonsense this worked like a charm. I can’t believe all the time I wasted with the other “fix” methods. Thank you for a great video.
You are very welcome. I am thankful that this video was helpful. It's so great to get a battery back in service . Thank you for sharing your success. I, too, tried all the fixes but couldn't throw it away 😀. After finally finding a fix, I knew I should share it. Have a great week.
Great vid, thanks. I noticed the PN, Rev, and sequence number on the main board. Hard to see clearly but yours looked like 007, on mine, it was 026. My battery reset without pushing the button. I held the jumper for a five count and the lights flashed. For those who are trying to figure this out, It may be helpful to note the board version as you determine how to reset, jumper only vs. jumper and switch...
This worked for me and I did have to press the button! Thanks for the tip and the link to the drill bits, they worked perfectly. For anyone trying to get up the plastic plugs, I used a pocket knife to gently work a hole into them and pry them up.
Mine was totally dead, battery error, lights on the battery unresponsive. My battery had a different looking card, but I followed the instructions and connected a paper clip between the gnd and rst contacts and pushed the button. It flashed green once and now the battery works again. Thanks!
Great video. Had a battery in sleep mode. Tried the in and out of charger and didn’t work. Bought a new one, but before I opened box I tried your method of resetting. It’s currently back on. Charger charging correctly. Saved me $300
Thanks a lot Sir. Your technique worked with my 40V 5AH Ryobi battery which was out of warranty. The only difference with my battery was, when I connected the reset terminals, all the 4 lights momentarily flashed once. I did not have to press the battery indicator button at that time. Now the battery is charging perfectly as before. Prior to the reset, whenever I pressed the battery indicator all the lights were flashing but it was not charging. The charger was flashing green and red lights which indicated defective battery. After the reset procedure, the problem of not charging is fixed.
Thanks - again! I just reset the same battery for the second time about a year later. The hardest part was finding the star tool to open the case again. ☺
You are very welcome. I am thankful it worked for you a second time. Yes, sometimes looking for that seldom used special tool is time-consuming. Happens to me .
I have several old Ryobi 40v packs that "dead". I've been saving them to harvest the good cells, but never have. I'm going to give this a shot. Thanks!
This worked for me. The lights never flashed during the reset jumper, even when using the status button. When I completed the reset and retried it the battery came out of the frozen state. Now fully charging and works well - Thank You
It worked for me too. The Reset point is not at the same place (I have a 6 Ah battery), and it had a four other points near it. I connected « RESET » and « GND » (second to its left) and pressed the button. No light, no spark, no sound. I tought your solution did not apply to my battery, but I put it back on the charger and it started charging immediatly, and charged the battery completely. I will keep it on the charger all winter (the charger is plugged into a timer which gives 30 minutes of current per day). We’ll see next spring. Saved me 284 (Canadian) dollars. Thank you
Thanks, it worked. I used a staple I bent to reset. The light did flash when I did the reset. It might have been good to go at that point but I went ahead and pressed the side button too where the 4 lights lit. I put it back together and my charger worked and fully charged my battery again. Thanks again.
I have been looking for a video like this for quite some time. Thank You! Last summer I replaced my entire tool catalog to Milwaukee because of this battery system. But I hung onto the Ryobi's because I knew someday (or someone) would figure out how to restore these batteries.
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success 🙌. It's great to be able to reset your battery and not have to throw it away 😀. Have a great day.
Just did this. I had to press the power button while jumping the RST. Battery now appears to be working and is charging. Woohoo! Thank you for posting this video!
I was about to go buy another battery or just switch out to a gas powered one completely when I decided to UA-cam if there was any troubleshooting for the battery luckily I stumbled upon you’re video and all I wanna say is Thanks for saving the day and teaching me something new !
This did the trick. Had tried the “in and out of charger repeatedly” and “jump from a good battery” before with no success. This was easy enough and as a bonus, actually worked. Appreciate the cautionary comments you make in the video but it didn’t take any advanced electrical skills to do this. Thanks for this video.
You are very welcome. I'm so thankful it worked out well for you. Thank you for sharing your success. Yes, cautions are a normal part of life. My interpretation when I hear or read the cautions usually goes something like this: Are you sure you want to try this? Are you really sure you want to try this, and are you really ready and willing to accept all responsibility for trying this? Thanks for watching.
Your method worked perfectly! I tried the jumper method before but didn't push the button at the same time and that was the difference maker. You jump it and push the button and it works. Thank you much, saved me at least $100 for a new 5ah 40v.
This actually worked for me. Charged right up to 40.2 volts and I'm back in business. Was facing $180 to replace it as it was 4 months out of warranty. Thank you kind sir.
You are very welcome. I'm so happy it worked out for you. I didn't find this out till after I bought a new battery 🙃. Thank you for sharing your success.
Thanks for this video. I was disappointed that simply jumping the reset terminal didn't work so I Googled again and found your video. My super expensive battery might have more life in it yet!
Excellent video. Thank you. I followed your instructions and I was able to get my Battery/Charger working again. The battery is charging as I type. The “dummy screw” was just a plastic cap. I used a drill to put a hole in it just enough to get a screw diver in to pry it out. Then I used my drill and T10 bit to remove the screw that was underneath. I used a paperclip to jump the pins. The Green lights came On and I was able to charge the battery. I also did not have to press the Power test button at the same time. Thank you again for your video.
🎉 You rock! I had set it aside with the intention of having to throw it away. My wife mowed and kept restarting the mower until the battery was completely drained. Gave me that error lights on the charger and tried taking it off and on 100 times. So simple and it worked!
Thanks for a very helpful video. I had the same problem, nothing on the internet worked until yours. It took me only 2 minutes and it did exactly like you said. On charger now and $6.00 is better than $149.00 to replace. Thanks again
Thanks, you rock! Was able to at least fix one of my two "bad" 40v batteries. This fixed the one with flashing lights, it however did not work for the one with no lights/no signal.
THIS SO WORKED.... THANK YOU! I had a brand new 4.0AH battery my family left outside in the rain and it wouldn't work anymore. I took it apart, cleaned it up, jumped the jumpers and pressed the button and BAM, works like a charm. Saved me $190 from going to get new battery this weekend.
Thank you for this video! I had a 40v battery for my leaf blower that showed a fault. I took it apart and cleaned off some mild surface corrosion and tested the voltages for every series and they were good, but still wouldn't charge. I inspected every component and nothing looked out of place or obviously burned. I completely overlooked the pads for the reset! As soon as I shorted those pins together the 25% led on the battery flashed and it's now charging. Thank you, again!
You are very welcome. I am so happy you were able to save your battery. I basically did the same thing, then I searched youtube and then jumped the reset, but it didn't work on mine. I put it back together but didn't throw it away , I knew it shouldn't be bad so soon. Later I tried one last time. That is when I pressed the button at the same time...it flashed and came to life!!! Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful new year ahead! Thank you for watching.
I came across your video while actually searching for how to “discharge” my 40V RYOBI that had also become unusable, blinking Yellow/Green on charger. I was thinking I might overcome the issue by fully discharging the battery pack. However, after watching your video, I decided to try your second method for resetting the battery (jump & press battery button). Luckily, all I needed to do was the first method (jumping the circuit) to reset the battery. Nevertheless, I appreciate your video for revealing both fixes. It’s nice to have a backup method if In encounter the issue again. The battery was down to one bar but it charged up without error and now works as good as before. Thanks!
You are very welcome. Thank you so much for taking the time to share your success. It's great to have a working battery after having it lock up and refuse to charge. Have a wonderful week 😊.
Thank you so much for the excellent video! It worked exactly as you described. A single button push with the paper clip reset and the battery recharged. My battery had a rubber plug covering one of the screws which I removed easily.
Holy **** it worked!!! Didnt need to push the battery button, just held down the RST buttons for 5 seconds with a safety pin. Thank you for saving me $150
Dude, thank you very much. I recently purchased a ryobi string trimmer at a yard sale really cheap because the owner couldn't get the battery out. I got it home and sure enough that battery was in there good. I decided maybe I could take it apart and get it out. Well that didn't help much because once I opened it up there was still this cage around d the battery lol. Finally I was able to fish my little 6in. Scale between the lach and the battery and I had to wack on the cage with the scale in place and it moved so I knew I had it at that point. Either as a practical joke or accident someone had gotten Glue on the battery and it was Glued in place. Once I got it out it was behaving like the one in you demo, so hopefully it will work once I follow your instructions. Which I will do at my own risk not because you suggested it or anything because you did not. You said not to do it unless I was qualified. So if anything were to happen it's Not on you my friend!🤠👍🙋♂️
Awesome 👌 👏 👍. Thank you for sharing your good experience with the rest of us. I'm so pleased it worked out for you. Have a wonderful weekend coming up. Thanks you for watching.
Works perfectly thank you! I did NOT have to push the button. Just left the reset circuit connected for a couple of seconds. Also you can break the center stud off on the screw heads and use standard Torx.
Nice job. I've been getting the runaround from Ryobi over replacing an 11 month old 40v 6ah battery they claim wasn't part of my original purchase. BS! I purchased my lawn mower from a big box store in a sealed box. Someone in their packaging or retail chain made a mistake and I'm pissed. I have dozens Ryobi products and have never made a repair or replacement claim in all the years I've had them. Hopefully the latest representative I'm dealing with makes this issue right. If not, I'll make an attempt to reset the battery then begin purchasing aftermarket batteries until the machines quit working. After that it will be time to start purchasing other brands.
Worked for me great, I didn't have to push the button but I did anyway after jumping connection. Thanks a bunch. Previously I tried the battery to battery method which didn't work.
So glad you were able to restore your battery and make it operational. 🙌. Thank you so much for sharing your good experience. Have a great week ahead. 😀
This is the 2nd video I have watched about how to do this. I have 2 "bricked" batteries that act the same as you show. I have the tools and am going to try this now. I hope it works. I have 4 40v Roybi tools and down to 1 working battery. This will same me well over $200.00. Thanks. Fingers crossed.
I'm going to have to watch your video again. First thing I can tell you is that my 40V batteries do not have an actual reset spot like yours and the few other videos I watched. But I found a spot near the end of the board where there is a RST and RGND and some other notation. So I jumped those, pushed that button. One of my batteries, the 4 amp hour one, now keeps the flashing green/red light solidly on green, but doesn't charge and doesn't flash, nor does the battery flash like it's charging. The 2 Amp hour had no change. So I'm going to watch your video again to see if I missed something and if I did, I'll try that. Otherwise these are off to the battery graveyard. I already have brand new ones on the way. But people who watch this should know that not every one of these batteries have that reset pin area in the place depicted in these videos. I took a photo with my cellphone then enlarged it to make it less stressful for my eyes. That's how I found it. By the way, both batteries when you push the status button, show one bar. They do light up one bar, but that's it. So there is energy in the thing, but they wouldn't go any further. Okay, I'm back; I watched again and don't see anything significant that you did that I overlooked. So I'm going to try one of the other methods of charging it up to around 3 v or so, then possibly incorporate what you did. As I said, my reset area is different than any of the ones I've seen so far. Not sure why, maybe circuit board manufacturers or something similar.
@@htnowpro I have a 36 volt battery and the RST is in the corner with several other contacts, I think the same as in your battery. Have you started the battery? I'm interested
Thank you so much for this video! Saved me a lot of money for a new 40v battery. It took me half a day to figure out how to remove the "dummy plug" (that's me! ha, ha!) but after that it took a few seconds to reset the battery. I used a pair of fine pointed tweezers to bridge the two little reset buttons and it worked great. The battery is on its way to a full charge. Thanks again.
Thanks man, your comment saved me money. When i seen you used tweezers, i got up right away and got mines and my battery is working!. thanks again and thank you hightech for making the video

Stop STOP: This guy is a superstar !! I tried the paperclip trick on my ^%&^%$$#% 40 volt Ryobi battery and I could never get it to re ingage. I did as he instructed above using the paperclip AND pressing the test button on the back of the battery at the same time and WOWWWWW. I did it twice but it worked. His method worked and saved me a lot of money. Thank you again.
Just as you carefully described, I removed the 4 screws from my lifeless 40V Riobi battery, lifted off the cover, jumped the "RST" (reset) contacts while simultaneously pushing the battery button under that sticky front cover, and "Voila" . . it's indicating a low charge condition (1 green light) and is ready to be charged again. Kudos to you sir!
Remember, these batteries have a 3-year warranty. If yours is less than 3 years old, call the 800 number first (have the battery, charger and tool with you), they will ship you a new one, THEN see if you can fix your old one!
I just bought a leaf blower that came with two batteries. No problems yet but I am interested in what people find out there. Nice video production. Well lit . Peace

Incredible. In an ideal country of honor in our product design and not planned obsolescence greed, we'd have an external reset button to bridge these two and press power. Even official steps in the manual for such a process. But I'm thankful it works and it's still not terribly difficult to reset. Mine actually flashed when I just touched the two for the reset - labeled RST. Working! Probably just varies per revision or model of these batteries, if yours doesn't automatically blink on RST bridging, press the power button at the same time. Had to use a real thin safety pin, took some wire clippers to one end. Tiny little RST holes, discouragement of that easy fix reset every step of the way hah. You know I wonder how many of these batteries Ryobi takes in and merely resets, bam refurbished.
Thank you! Just fixed a 5 ah that I thought was lost! I didn’t have to press the button though. Mine flashed as soon as I jumped the two spots together.
Cool. There must be different build/ model year batteries. So glad you were able to save it. Have a wonderful week ahead. Thank you for sharing your experience with everyone.
This worked perfectly for me. I didn’t have to push the reset on the battery. It came alive immediately after jumping the reset with a paper clip. I had to get creative to remove two of the screws. A hacksaw worked for me.

Did the master reset on ten 40v batteries. All responded as in your video. Then they went back to the 4 light blink. They just kept repeating the cycle and would not charge.
That was easy! Something the manufacturer doesn’t want you to know, they will tell you to take it to a service centre for repair or replacement, then charge you a fee to inspect and reset it, then say it was most likely your charger or to much charge or dead to long. Awesome the way you did the investigation and found the problem and solution to fix it 👍🏻

Thank you so much for taking the time and making the effort ti share your success with everyone 💙. Have a wonderful 😊 weekend.
5:44 The jumper reset my battery. Low use. Just used one day and would not charge. Can’t believe that reset isn’t built into the button. Hold for 5 seconds or something. Thank you so much for this straight forward video!
You are very welcome. I feel the same way about having a reset. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a great weekend.
Thank you so much I bought 2 at the swapmeet for $5 each. now they are working!
Wow! Excellent. Great find, glad 😊 they are working. Have a wonderful day. Thank you for sharing your experience.
It worked great! Those pointers about the indicator lights helped out. Your video was so helpful I didn't even need to keep watching it over again to make sure I didn't miss a step. The battery is now working and charging. Thanks.
You are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
This worked for me. 1 million thanks for saving me 60 bucks 😊
@@lstefanakys1$60??? You can't buy a 1.5Ah 18v for 60dollars
@@pasqualeredo actually it went bad again and ended up buying a third party brand. 😞
You are very welcome. To happy to hear you salvaged you battery when it was needed most. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
It worked! You are the first to mention to press the button while the resets are jumped and my battery is currently charging. Thank you!
You are very welcome. Makes my day knowing the video helped you. Thank you so much for sharing your results ❤️. Have a great week.
Another grateful Ryobi battery owner. Your procedure worked first time - thank you!
Thanks for making a clear to see video.
Thanks for the simple explanation, pressing the button made all the difference.
You are very welcome. Thank you for watching and sharing your results. Have a wonderful weekend 😀.
It worked! As perfect as explained! Told me the correct tool to use, so I bought it at harbor freight and what to do to perl or slice label, dummy screw the whole video is perfectly explained. Thank you for saving me 100 buck! Seaside heights nj!
I am so glad it worked out for you 🙌. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
This worked. On mine I didn’t have to press the button, just made contact with the RST inside. Fashioned a paperclip to look like yours, worked perfectly. Thank you!
You are very welcome. So glad you were able to extend the life of your battery. Thank you for posting your results. Have a wonderful week ahead.
Great information 👍. Thank you for sharing this with everyone. Surely it will help many. Have a wonderful weekend.
Genius! Super simple. Took less than a minute to get this done. Thank you!
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
You are the kid! Saved me $169 from buying a new battery.....worked like a charm!
So glad to hear the news. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a great week ahead.
This worked for me and I did have to press the button! Thanks for the tip and the link to the drill bits, they worked perfectly. For anyone trying to get up the plastic plugs, I used a pocket knife to gently work a hole into them and pry them up.
Thank you for sharing your success and the tip on removing the tamper plug. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great help! I was going to throw away the battery until I saw this and now it works again!
I am glad it worked out for you. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week 😀.
Mine was totally dead, battery error, lights on the battery unresponsive. My battery had a different looking card, but I followed the instructions and connected a paper clip between the gnd and rst contacts and pushed the button. It flashed green once and now the battery works again. Thanks!
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful weekend.
Great video. Had a battery in sleep mode. Tried the in and out of charger and didn’t work. Bought a new one, but before I opened box I tried your method of resetting. It’s currently back on. Charger charging correctly. Saved me $300
Thank you for sharing your success. So glad it worked out for you. Have a wonderful weekend 😀.
I'm so glad you were able to reset your battery and get it back in service. Thank you so much for sharing your success! Have a wonderful week ahead.
Thanks!
You are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share.
This worked for me. The lights never flashed during the reset jumper, even when using the status button. When I completed the reset and retried it the battery came out of the frozen state. Now fully charging and works well - Thank You
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success with everyone. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Worked like a charm! I just bought the right bit and saved a ton not having to buy a new battery!!!
Congratulations 👏. Thank you so much for sharing your success. Have a wonderful remainder of the week 😀.
Thank you
Wow, great report. Thank you for sharing. 😀. You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success.
Thanks, it worked. I used a staple I bent to reset. The light did flash when I did the reset. It might have been good to go at that point but I went ahead and pressed the side button too where the 4 lights lit.
I put it back together and my charger worked and fully charged my battery again.
Thanks again.
Awesome! Thank you for sharing your experience 😊. Have a great weekend.
I followed your directions and it worked perfectly the first time. Thank you!
Wonderful, thank you for sharing your success. Have a great week ahead 😀.
Thank You for posting! You saved me $150 on a new battery! Of course Home Depot doesn't want anyone to have this knowledge.
You are very welcome. Thank you for taking the time to share your success. Have a wonderful remainder of the week.
Hey man , thank you for sharing your time and effort and mostly your knowledge.
Very well appreciated.
You are very welcome, have a wonderful weekend.
I have been looking for a video like this for quite some time. Thank You! Last summer I replaced my entire tool catalog to Milwaukee because of this battery system. But I hung onto the Ryobi's because I knew someday (or someone) would figure out how to restore these batteries.
I am like you. It just wasn't right to discard a battery that should be good. I am very happy it worked out well. Have a wonderful week.
Thank you, it worked! I think it s interesting that nothing is mentioned in the battery insert about resetting. Shame on you Ryobi!
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success 🙌. It's great to be able to reset your battery and not have to throw it away 😀. Have a great day.
My thought also was why wouldn't you just have a "reset" button on the outside of the shell to do the same thing we all just did?
Liability. These batteries can be very dangerous when tampered with by idiots.
Just did this. I had to press the power button while jumping the RST. Battery now appears to be working and is charging. Woohoo! Thank you for posting this video!
Glad it helped. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience 😊. Have a wonderful week.
Never had so many problems with my Milwaukee like i have with Ryobi 40v.
Thanks for the video. It worked on one of them.
You are very welcome. Have a wonderful Thanksgiving 😊.
God bless America and Wilwaukee company. LOVE MILWAUKEE!!! Ryobi sucks period.
I was about to go buy another battery or just switch out to a gas powered one completely when I decided to UA-cam if there was any troubleshooting for the battery luckily I stumbled upon you’re video and all I wanna say is Thanks for saving the day and teaching me something new !
You are very welcome. I am so happy to help out 😊. Thank you so much for taking the time to comment. It means a great deal to me.
Worked great. Didn’t have to push the buttons during the “reset”. It’s now charging! Thank you!
Cool. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a great weekend.
Your method worked perfectly! I tried the jumper method before but didn't push the button at the same time and that was the difference maker. You jump it and push the button and it works. Thank you much, saved me at least $100 for a new 5ah 40v.
You are very welcome. I am so pleased 😀 it worked out for you. Thank you for sharing your good outcome with everyone. Have a wonderful week ahead.
You are very welcome. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Another battery put back into service, Yay!!! You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success with us. Have a wonderful New Year ahead!!!
🎉 You rock! I had set it aside with the intention of having to throw it away. My wife mowed and kept restarting the mower until the battery was completely drained. Gave me that error lights on the charger and tried taking it off and on 100 times. So simple and it worked!
What a wonderful report! Thank you so much for sharing your success 🙌. Thankful it worked out for you. Have a wonderful weekend.
Thanks for a very helpful video. I had the same problem, nothing on the internet worked until yours. It took me only 2 minutes and it did exactly like you said. On charger now and $6.00 is better than $149.00 to replace. Thanks again
Congratulations on your success. So glad it worked for you. Thank you so much for sharing your achievement. Have a wonderful week.
I spent $7 on buying a bit to take it apart and it works like brand new thank you very much
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Thanks, you rock! Was able to at least fix one of my two "bad" 40v batteries. This fixed the one with flashing lights, it however did not work for the one with no lights/no signal.
Thankfully, one of them was returned to service. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a great week.
Congratulations and thank you for sharing your success. Wonderful report. Have a great weekend!
You are very welcome. I am very pleased it worked out for you. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week 😊.
Just used this information to fix my Ryobi battery. Saved me $50. Thanks for your video!
You are very welcome. Thank you so very much for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Holy **** it worked!!! Didnt need to push the battery button, just held down the RST buttons for 5 seconds with a safety pin. Thank you for saving me $150
You are very welcome. So happy it worked out for you. Thank you for sharing your success.
Absolutely wonderful write-up. Hope it works out for you. Thank you for taking the time to share this.

Works perfectly thank you! I did NOT have to push the button. Just left the reset circuit connected for a couple of seconds.
Also you can break the center stud off on the screw heads and use standard Torx.

One of my batteries just did this tonight... Will be testing your method soon. Thanks for the info. 👏🏽
You are very welcome. Hope it works out for you. Have a wonderful day.
Thank you. Hope all works out well. Have a great week. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Thank you very much.. I followed every step as you described and my battery and I are now very happy. Nice job. God bless you.
You are very welcome 🙏. Thank you for sharing your success.
Please let us know the results you have. Hope it works for you. It's a shame to throw away a possible good battery. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Sorry. Didn't get this in sequence. Thank you for sharing.
Pure genius. In my case I had to use a Dremel tool to cut through 2 screws to open the battery but the battery is now back in service!
Wonderful news. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful end to the week.
Your battery must be a different version. Please let us know how it goes.

So happy 😊 you saved your battery. Thank you for sharing your success 🙌.
Thanks man, your comment saved me money. When i seen you used tweezers, i got up right away and got mines and my battery is working!. thanks again and thank you hightech for making the video
How do you remove the dummy plug?
@@willgonzalez9045Turned out there wasn't one - just 4 star screws. No special tool required.
Big thank you for the video. If I would have done what you told me not to do, then it would have worked perfectly & it would have taken less than a couple of minutes. Great job.
BIG 😀 SMILE! Thank you so much, made my day. Have a wonderful week ahead.
I’m glad I found this video. I was about to buy a new battery. And Ryobi batteries are not cheap!
I just came across your response. I am so glad you were able to save your battery. Thank you for sharing your success. Have a wonderful weekend coming up.
Dude, love you lots man. Worked like a charm. Used a drill bit at super low speed to drill out the dummy plug covering the 4th screw. Thank you so much.

You are very welcome. Thank you so much for sharing your good experience with everyone. One more battery back to work. Have a great week.
Thank you so much for sharing your success 🙌. Have a wonderful week 😊.
Remember, these batteries have a 3-year warranty. If yours is less than 3 years old, call the 800 number first (have the battery, charger and tool with you), they will ship you a new one, THEN see if you can fix your old one!
Wonderful post, it will help many! Thank you so much!!!
This worked for me. Mine has two dummy plugs that were tough to remove to get to screw. Thank you for saving me a lot of money

I just bought a leaf blower that came with two batteries. No problems yet but I am interested in what people find out there. Nice video production. Well lit . Peace
Thank you for sharing. You probably will not have any problems. Always good to get two batteries with a tool purchase. Have a wonderful weekend 😀.
You think they would put a reset button on the outside but I guess that doesn’t help sell as many batteries . This 100% worked , wow! You are the best. Thanks for taking the time to put this video together for us . My fiancée now thinks I’m handy. I guess I’ll let her think that until the next project 😂
😀..lol. Thats a good one, I think you are handy also. You did the research and were able to reach the desired results 👏. Job well done. Thank you for sharing your success.
Thank you for sharing your experience 😊. It helps others. Yes, an external access reset button would have been great 👍. Have a great week 😀.

Did the master reset on ten 40v batteries. All responded as in your video. Then they went back to the 4 light blink. They just kept repeating the cycle and would not charge.
How old are your 10 bad batteries? Did they all die on the same tool? How long did they last?
Thanks buddy, worked a treat. 5AH back alive
You are very welcome. Thank you for sharing your good experience with us 😊. So happy it worked out for you. Have a great week ahead.
That was easy! Something the manufacturer doesn’t want you to know, they will tell you to take it to a service centre for repair or replacement, then charge you a fee to inspect and reset it, then say it was most likely your charger or to much charge or dead to long. Awesome the way you did the investigation and found the problem and solution to fix it 👍🏻
Thank you so much for the kind words and for sharing your success. Have a wonderful week ahead 😊.
Awesome, you just saved me from having to buy a new one, worked for mine , thanks for posting 👍
