    I just finished doing this on my 07 Mazda cx7 took me 5 hours couldn’t take out the clamps for the hoses it was tight af. The belt was difficult too what I did I went under the car put the belt back but the pulley at the top was far out so I used the car jack long pior on a small wrench to pull the pulley up loose the belt and I had to hold the pipe with my foot 🦶 I got up slowly without releasing the belt and finally I got up while holding the pipe with my left foot and I just pull the belt with my middle finger from the top pulley and bam 💥 I was done 😂 took like like an hour to figure that out tho.😂

    Thank you very much for posting this vid, have the same problem with p0126 code. Your vid was a great help!
    Update: Replaced the thermostat with a mazda oem part $58.00 from local dealer, filled with FL22 coolant from mazda oem bought 2 gallons, used 1 1/2 gallon to fill at $25 per gallon, cleared the codes, bled the cooling system, and it has solved both the po126 and the multiple misfire code has not come back!! thanks again for posting this vid helped a lot.

    Is this the non turbo model. And where was the ect sensor located? Should I follow the main radiator hose like you said in the beginning of the video??

    Do you have to drain the power steering pump ??

  • @optimalorlando

    Was able to remove and replace thermostat without removing the power steering pump. A hose clamp removal tool made it possible to snake out the the clamps.

    As far as coolant, I really don't use it. I use distilled water. I am in Houston, maybe dilute it a bit in the winter for that 1 freeze a year we might get. Water handles heat better than coolant. Coolant is for anti-freezing properties

    • @MattReily
      @MattReily  7 років тому

      I agree, you are right. Race cars & track bikes use water only a lot of the time & they are racing. I feel it's okay, but you are right on your points! Elements of coolant have higher boiling points than water & protects components over time!

      Nathan Dean , sorry late response. YES, twice. Once warranty, second time we traded it in. This car is a turd. Pretty fun to drive, but problem after problem. Design problems, not just problems. I guess it's why Mazda discontinued the name CX7!

    I don’t know if he says it in this video because I watched a few, but go ahead and buy the plastic radiator drain bolt from your local Mazda dealer before you start this job. Yours will be brittle and you will break it.
    Double wrench the tensioner. Third power steering pump bolt is behind the pulley on bottom. You will probably only lose about a gallon and a half of coolant. The engine will need to be ran to get the radiator to take all of it. Peak Global Lifetime is a much cheaper alternative to the Mazda FL22. Meets specs.

    what does thermostat do to the AC system? I got a cx7 turns out the AC is heating on 3000 RPM and when I stopped the vehicle the AC will get cooled again.. anyone ?

    • @MattReily
      @MattReily  7 років тому

      that is interesting & unfortunate! Pretty sure the cooling system can effect the AC system. My Mazda MPV is directly effected by coolant level. It has a pinhole in the radiator that I JB Welded. It SLIGHTLY leaks, but gets low after a month or two & my AC starts to suck when car temp increases.....?? once again, not a pro here. I'll see if I can get better answer or link for you...

    • @kudalaut.official
      @kudalaut.official 7 років тому

      Matt Reily not sure what the cause of it, appreciate your comment sir

    • @MattReily
      @MattReily  7 років тому

      So you want heat, but it is cooling instead? or you want cooling but it is heating @ 3000 rpm instead? if it is that you want cooling, but it starts heating then the radiator cooling system can be effecting it! I use my MPV as proof. I have seen some info that your AC compressor can be under-performing until engine rises over the idling speed. Possibly you just need a recharge of your freon, AutoZone used to come out & do it for you if you bought from them... But, all these options; freon, thermostat, coolant are all way cheaper than compressor RR.

    • @MattReily
      @MattReily  7 років тому

      BUT, even MORE!! we had AC replaced TWICE!!!!!! once under warranty & the second we just traded it in!!!!!! POS!!!! they said it contaminated somehow, however it was leaking....? sorry it has been a couple years

    • @kudalaut.official
      @kudalaut.official 7 років тому

      Matt Reily second one sir, it turns out heat when the vehicle is reaching speed of 80-100km/h or above 3,000 RPM.. but when the car stops the air will be back to normal (cool)

    Over priced shit thats what snap on is.

    • @MattReily
      @MattReily  3 роки тому +1

      Maybe so, but when you are tightening a engine case bolt on a chromed out Harley or Hayabusa & the craftsman wrench you are using snaps & you scratch the piss out of the chrome clutch cover... on a Saturday... with the owner watching... along with his entire bike crew... you’ll wish you had a snap on wrench, lol. I could go on & on. If you do it everyday for money, get to know your local snap on dealer

      Damn it was hard enough just to get the hose back on and clmaped tight enough to not leak let alone get tbe thermostat out without moving the pump, great idea i thinking ill have to do this cause my upper hose os red hot and the thermostat one is cold.@MattReily
