Thanks for including prices, it makes it a lot easier to consider options when you know all the details, I think that’s a fair price, the sheath alone would be 100-150 likely from a custom maker anyways 👍🏼 and this thing seems like a great hacker

It really is that awesome. Thanks for the review Arron!! I lucked into mine for $214 on amazon, but it was a fluke. Just happened to check late one night, and there it was. Maybe somebody backed out on a backorder, idk. Definitely well worth the $, and USA made TOPS quality. Would have preferred g10...but for what it is? No doubt that Tops makes great knives. As a comparison for those on a budget look at Ontario's 18" military machete and sheath at $25 and $15 respectively. Not nearly as good a handle and sheath but it's 1095 steel and military grade.

Unless you want to do an GAW to me on it LOL. Like the saying goes the only difference between men and boys is the price of their toys. This is definitely an short sword that proves the point. Same here..I mean,I could take it camping with me but I doubt I would very often..I usually carry my ESEE Junglas or my TOPS Storm Vector for a chopper.not only are they amazing choppers but they mount up perfectly on the side of my pack..as cool as this sword is,it’s just too big to carry like this plus these Junglas and Storm Vector are heavy enough,I would rather not add all that unnecessary extra weight..it would look nice hanging on my wall though and it would be fun to go out in the back yard and play bushcraft ninja but when I look at the price I can’t help but think about other knives I could buy that I would get far more use out of..or I could put that money towards another gun.either way I would get more bang for my buck..I mean, one could always buy a Cold Steel Katana machete.sure, the Cold Steel isn’t nearly as awesome but it’s a fraction of the price at around $50

Be a good bit of fun car camping, kinda hard to justify the carry outside of a rainforest, maybe swamp, IMO, where I could see it being a very capable package on a shoulder strap rig together with a more nimble fixed blade mounted on the sheath, (might have to be a Mora though after the 300 odd USD spent on this fella).

Love the design but it looks like its going to be in the $280-$300 range. A little more than I'd be willing to spend on it. I had a custom I designed that's made from Nitro-v at 61 hrc and a kydex sheath and that cost me $200. Its 12" instead of 15" but has a better handle, grind(saber convex with 0.015 at the sweet spot and 0.008 at the tip and by the handle), a finger choil and neutral balance if you hold at the choil. Nitro-v is stainless and has a higher toughness than 1095 and boy did it hold up. Used a Shrade and a Cold Steel alongside my custom which did about 70% of the chopping. Shares and Cold Steel had dull spots and a few chips but the custom was still cutting newsprint pretty clean.
If this was about $200 I'd be all over it because I love this type of design but at around $300 I'll pass.

Definitely. If your main purpose is clearing greenery (ferns, blackberry bushes) this is not the ideal tool (although it will do it).
It gets tiring after a little bit to swing when cutting light brush.
However it is still an awesome tool and what I carry for bush crafting/INCH bag.
If I could only have one tool for all outdoor work this would be it.
If you need something for greenery I would suggest getting a machete and a saw (something like a “silky outback big boy 2000”). You can do A LOT with that combo. Cheers!

Also it depends on the person swinging. I’m average-slightly above average strength, but someone who is on the bigger side wouldn’t have much of an issue using this as a machete.

Yeah this is a terrible machete, it's made to be a hatchet and an indestructible combat tool. You cut down trees and take heads with this. You can chop through modern armor or build a shelter; it's not for underbrush.

I'd rather have them make it look like a short sword or would love to see them make a wakazashi

Love your videos, and I just ordered one of the Storm Vectors. But in this video you can clearly see if you stop the video and enlarge, that the watermelon was already scored or even pre-cut. Not that it matters to anyone, but It just kinda disappointed me.

Blade is not Available Anywhere. The Link to Smokey Mountain is redirected to their home page. You got me back as a subscriber. I like blades. Not the Van Life.
