Felt so weird hearing it for the first time without the car sounds in the beginning for whatever reason, I got way too used to the BGM rip. Anyway, really solid track from Koguchi, I think the unique style he's been bringing to the table with his contributions to the soundtrack are a very refreshing departure from the norm for Trails, just what Falcom's sound team needed with Unisuga having recently left. Looking forward to hearing more from him in the future!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game, it's easily one of the best first game of an arc alongside Zero and top favourites in the series in general. It definitely blew cold steel out of the water in terms of story.
I was hoping I would like this game after finding Reverie disappointing and after finishing it, I can say it's one of my favorite games in the series. Van is one of the best protagonists, surrounded by plenty of colorful characters new and old, one of the most interesting stories, and a great soundtrack. It was cool to see Renne all grown up too and at times, it was a little hard to believe she's the same girl from Sky SC. She's really changed so much. There were a few annoying parts, but I really enjoyed the game and now I can't wait for Daybreak II in 2025!

I loved Koguchi on this OST. He's got chiller themes basically mastered. When he gets consistently good with his battle songs he'll be an all time Falcom great. Tfw no new Koguchi drop for another 6 months
When Zero was quite slow in the story, Kuro is immediately intense (The last chapter is epic !!) can't wait to play the 2nd .. The best RPG on PS4 (and PS5 ?) for me..
@@braven7248 Honestly Zero ended with me still wanting more info on KeA I mean she basically ALTERED TIME and it ended with a massive cloud over your head regarding what would happen next The only lingering aspect of Daybreak’s ending was the final genesis which they did mention but honestly I had forgotten about it in the moment since they seemingly wrapped up Van’s problem but I felt less anxious than I did with Zero’s ending but others might feel differently

idk about you but the non vocal falcom intro/outro tracks have a lot more going for them than the ones with lyrics like release of the far west ocean, and yet here we are, new days/omen, og sora no kiseki and genesis beyond the beginning
Yeah, that’s what I was thinking when the soundtrack was out and I read the title on the booklet. Just like Cold Steel title taken from one track “The Glint of Cold Steel” back then.
The Legend of Heroes Kuro no Kiseki, contrary to popular belief, it got a soundtrack. (Took Falcom long enough to actually release it lol.) And it sucks, really badly. First the new-ish guy, Koguchi. I was, disappointed with his work overall to be honest. I think that was more of a me problem, however. After his Hajimari work, much of which was very impressive and some of which was even thought to be Unisuga for quite awhile, and then Unisuga's departure, I think I was, whether I fully realized it or not, expecting him to be able to mostly fill that void, or at least fill it more than he did. Looking back, yeah, maybe that was unreasonable. But whatever the case, Koguchi has some good work this game, and brings a neat new style to the team. Many more songs than I was expecting, and there's quality here; Give me a Koguchi event theme over a Singa or modern Sonoda one, I'll take it any time. And he's got some really good highs, this credits theme, and the songs for Oort Road and Dirke Park (I haven't bothered checking most songs' official names yet). There is one area I think I'm definitely rightfully disappointed in though, and that's his battle themes. I really don't like either normal battle theme. They're not terrible, but from all standpoints I was expecting more out of Koguchi after how good Wind Up Yesterday was in Hajimari. These feel like a downgrade, or even something he made before for Ys IX or Haji or whatever that got rejected. (A possibility I haven't completely abandoned, despite being told by someone good on this stuff that that's not likely at all.) There's also Wailing Siren (I do know that title lol), which has IMAX composition and a, not great, on everything else about the song. (At least we have the Resonant Saga arrange, which is amazing and you should listen to it, pull it up and listen while you're reading the rest of this review even.) Also, I would have liked to see Koguchi get to do a boss theme, or even a final boss theme, if nothing else just to see what he would have done. Maybe at least it would be another thing for someone to make a great arrange out of. Would have been better than you-know-what playing for the final boss too. Looking forward to his future work. Sonoda, I don't like Sonoda's work here. Guy seems tired, and I agree with everyone who says he's burnt out. I think the majority of his songs sound really stale, and most bore me. I think there was one or two I like quite a bit, but I can't recall which at the moment. Remove his songs, and the amount of tracks in this ost that I care about, off the top of my head, drops low enough for me to count them on one hand. (Tharbad Night, credits, Dirke, Oort, and Pinch, in case you're curious.(NOTE: There are more that I like, but that's an off the top of my head count.)) I'm not sure if I like his work here or on Haji more, my Heavy Violent Match bias is strong, but I adore them both. Hard Desperation, Resonance of Ray, I'm Grimcats, Unmitigated Evil are all amazing standouts for me, and some of my favorite Jindo songs period. And he got more too, more songs than in Haji if I recall correctly. A nice move towards filling a certain gap (not that I think that's what it was on Falcom's part), and I'm really happy about it on its own. If he keeps getting more, that would be a very nice trend. Now the elephant in the room, Singa. I have never felt so negative about Singa's work in my life. While overall on the side of, "I don't like him as a composer," I was always much more positive about his work then a lot of the people of similar opinion, far as I could tell anyway, and I saw many more bright spots. I had several songs I criticized heavily that I still outright liked too. (I still really like Aim a Gun and Elegant Prowess, for instance.) In Haji, I even said I think he's improving, and I was happy to see that. He wasn't back to Ys 8 Singa yet after falling so far, but I felt he was getting closer, and could continue this upwards climb. I now realize that was a fluke. Singa is not improving, he just occasionally does individual things better than usual (see, the drums in Sword of Swords, and something in Diabolic Howl, don't recall what), and every now and then makes something really good (see, Rage Mishunder, Tharbad Night, and Something Luxury). Overall, his stuff in Kuro is way worse than anything of his non-Evo works before. He's got plenty of boring bad tracks, and his battle themes... What happened to Deep Carnival? Aim A Gun? Urban Terror? Proud Grude? They were all dramatically more interesting, and I would say better, than nearly all of his boss themes in Kuro. We have boss themes that sound factory-made, two mini-boss themes someone glued together, a quest boss theme that I hate with a passion but actually has some strong points, and an insulting, cheap hack of a Fateful arrangement. But hey, at least Singa being Singa wasn't too atrocious with the non battle themes right? Boring at times, but not terrible, right? Singa has somehow managed to make some of his event and town and dungeon themes this game his worst songs in the soundtrack, and some of his worst period I'd say. Deep Affection is abysmal, Darklight Town is abysmal, there's one dungeon theme as well whose title I don't know yet which is also abysmal (most people probably know the one). I almost can't believe this happened, to the point I might believe it if you said there's another uncredited contractor who did those songs, someone worse at composing than Singa. Maybe Singa is just putting less effort than ever into his music because he's putting more time and effort into kickboxing. That would be cool, and I'd be pretty happy about that actually. Guy seems to enjoy kickboxing... Also, obligatory Tharbad Night is very good. Clown music, but I don't mean that in a bad way when I say it. One of his best songs for sure... And now the elephant not in the room, Unisuga. Unisuga, is nowhere to be seen in this soundtrack. Him leaving the team seems like a certainty now, it had to have happened. Falcom didn't even bother with a leftover or two, so the closest thing to a Unisuga song we have in the soundtrack is DIABOLIC HOWL. Abysmal... And Unisuga's absence is felt, his Haji songs were very few, but brightened up the ost a lot. Hide and Seek All By Myself and Like a Whirlwind... Without him, something feels missing... And final thoughts, there's an overall lack of cohesion present and horridly jarring differences in quality. And compared to Haimari's ost, that one is so much better. Like I said, Unisuga's work really helped it a lot, despite it's low quantity, and along with Koguchi's great work that game, Jindo's work, a better Sonoda, and a better Singa with more really good songs, Haji had a lot to like about it, and had many more bright spots. This is the worst Kiseki ost by a landslide, barring maybe SC and 3rd EVO. If you happen to really like it, that's fine, and I'm actually pretty happy for you. But I can't.

CS4 has quite a bit of good Unisuga, helping it, (End of SAGA, Burning Throb, Constraint, Majestic Roar, the list goes on), Singa is overall better (nothing as good as Tharbad Night, but nothing as bad as his worst Kuro stuff), and Sonoda was better. Feels much more cohesive as well.

You know you've just beaten one of the best JRPGs ever and arguably the best Trails game when this music kicks in.

One of my favorite credits themes in the series, love the main melody, especially at 3:47. And the credits themselves with all the wholesome art.
