- [61] I think I've found a game breaking mechanic whilst playing as the creep!

The thing with the cursor script is that the amount of creep it spawns is the total amount of creep on the map multiplied by a set multiplier. Either the map creator set the multiplier too high (it's generally set quite low so that you have to have a lot of creep and you wouldn't get to the levels seen in this video) or there was some broken interaction with other scripts that was multiplying the multiplier. The cursor script is extremely strong regardless, however, any map it's used in is extremely cheesable by virtue of the fact you can get the creep to go literally anywhere and destroy anything you want.
I was thinking the same thing. The multiplier is way too high, making the cursor very strong on this map. Seems very easy to win doing little more than buffing your emitters and using the cursor to tactically dismantle the infrastructure.
Edit: So I played both the 1.0 and 1.1 versions of this map, and beat both in ~30 minutes with the above strategy. Granted, it is a "lite" map and is supposed to be easy, but the use of the cursor makes it a little _too_ easy...
The actual set multiplier never really changes.
The only reason it seemed so absurd here is because on other maps were it is a thing you have a creep limit of like 5 where this map can go to 125. Once it gets going it spawns tons more creep which boosts it further in a loop of mass destruction.
I wonder if he'd have the time to test that theory of just waiting and only upgrading the starter emitter and see if you can win that easily.

@@kingkuma4112 It's not exponential. It's 20 creep every boost.
@@JWBlunden it's 20 creep per boost, but the rate you gain boosts appears to be based on the amount of creep you have. So it is exponential.
You can't lose at all. I'm gonna let the game run overnight at 4x speed and just see the chaos that occurs (gonna save before I go crazy with it).

So I think I know what happened. I have played on maps with the guidance mod, it isn't actually that op. I think the queen buffs were also buffing the mouse. The way it works is it basically spawns a little amount on your cursor, so maybe the queen buff also buffs the cursor itself. Obviously that's a bug, it's a weird interaction between the two mods.
Edit: After reading the replies I have realized that my theory was wrong. However there is something else going on in the video. If you look at the emit limit, that is set all the way to 125, normally it's 3.5. That explains why it was scaling so much more than usual.

@@gyemligtenberg Oh? Maybe. The reason I assumed it just spawned some is because the amount, at least when I played, didn't change at all.

@@YoYoDude012 Yeah, I edited my comment, it has to do with the emit limit being bonkers on this map, resulting in more creep which in turn made the cursor op

I think an awesome mod to this game would be to play through the level defeating existing creeper, then switch sides once you win and battle BACK through your defenses. Have the option to do this as much as you want, with some kind of resource carry over each time for some truly insane battles.

I've enjoyed this series enough that I finally bought Creeper World 4.
Now I wish Tom would cite map names in his notes more often so I could challenge myself to take on the same maps he does.

The map name is in the top right corner. I don't think the creator's name is so if there's a bunch of maps with a generic name it may be tough to find the right one, but it's not impossible to figure it out

I do love this version of Play as the Creep, I just find it more relaxing XD

So the way the cursor thing works is, it produces creep at your cursor while it's over creep. This creep production, in a lot of versions (Or more accurately, a commonly used version of the mod) gets stronger the more of the map is covered by creeper.
So yes, when you get to the end of the map, it's spicy powerful.

I think my favorite thing to do on these play as creeper maps is cutting off supplies. Turrets can't shoot without ammo.

The creep drawing doesn't feel that game breaking in comparison to the other options this mod has. Last map he literally just skipped halfway to the base by cutting off their towers with eggs. He could just do that here and instantly win?
Nah, that map didn't function properly in this regard like this one did: things like eggs are meant to spawn only a short amount away from the creeper. You can daisy-chain the eggs but it takes far more of them to do that than to just nuke the backline.

I believe it should. There’s a chance they changed it for this map specifically, but boost should pick the closest to where you click (within range) and buff that one.

Day two of asking Tom to play cloud gardens
to be honest, i'm starting to get a bit bored with Creeper World. others might like it but i think it's starting to feel a bit boring and like it's just the same video again and again.
I mainly just like when Tom sounds like he is having fun. The game doesn't matter, as long as he is enjoying it, for me.
