You think? I’m not even sold that this is a good cover. I give them huge credit for doing it at a time when Misfits records were mostly out of print and it was hard for people to hear and appreciate them, but the playing is just too tight and not punk enough. It changed the entire chaotic feeling of the song, because their musicianship is too good, lol. Well, that and James has a decent voice but he’s not Glenn Danzig
Damn they were so good back then...Saw them 4 times between '86 and '90, including the spring of '86 with Cliff Burton opening for Ozzy...Definitely at their peak. Who else remembers when GA tickets meant you could go on the floor and mosh? No seats down there at metal shows back in the day...
James is a terribly underrated vocalist, he has a really great range that he shows more on albums like Load, Reload, ironically enough St. Anger, and 72 Seasons. Dude's great
Big punk fan starting to get into Metallica and other metal music. This is like the best of each elements coming together to form one super crossover. This is such an insane cover I love it
They also played it at Tinley Park, Illinois in July of 1994 when I had sixth row seats and Glenn Danzig came out onstage to sing it with them 😎😎😎 The Tinley Park '94 concert is on UA-cam. You can hear us all in the crowd singing it probably louder than any crowd ever has😂
I miss this Metallica. Here after 72 Season has come out & the borefest that it was. No energy, no anything in that last album. I may not love AJFA like a lot of people do, but that era of Metallica was KICK ASS 🤘🤘
Fazebooce Mcbungybooce nah i just meant their live performance sounds as good as the misfits’ album version, i prefer the misfits but their live renditions of this just aren’t the same
No dorky fans capturing the moment on their dorky little cell phones to post to their boring social media that nobody cares about.... that alone makes 1989 better than today.

Peak James was a truly exceptional vocalist. He’s still good, but in 89 he was untouchable.
yes, he has an incredible voice "timbre"
From 1981 to 1992 he was the best...
Holy words, I was there that night!!! 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
His voice is only good on recordings now. Live, he's shot.
On.God.

What does it mean? (looking at Lars and Kirk already miming that)
I'd give a kidney to attend this concert. Please someone invent the time machine.

Ok. But the remaining kidney will be smashed up in a second in the crowd...beware!!
0:31 I love how he checks Lars to see if he is ready to nail the intro.
For all the awesome original music Metallica has produced, they are without a doubt the greatest cover band ever. Ever.

I wouldve traded my life to be at this concert. I could die happy tomorrow I dont care. Nothing in life could overdo the happiness of being here!
Misfits forever! Even Metallica gave them respect!
I saw them with Queensryche on that tour in Indy. The 80s were the best.
BEST METALLICA CONCERT!
Best moment of Metallica. For many reasons: energy, setlist, power...
I was at one like that a long time ago last week.
This band is from different planet...thats for sure... farhan from bangladesh
Just some madlads with dreams of being the fastest.

The acoustics here are incredible
back when Metallica was Metallica.
I miss what they once were. I really do.
They are still MetallicA
best cover EVER
0:17 I like how Kirk and Lars point their fingers at the same time
Honestly I prefer this version to the original, the extra speed and aggression just takes it to another level of awesomeness
I wish they would have played Green Hell too.
They did at Tinley Park, Illinois in July 1994 when Glenn came out on stage and sang with them!!!
I had sixth row seats, BTW😎😎😎
I love this song.... Metallica.... Golden years
I didn't know that I needed this video so much! This cover is fucking fire!
If I had a Time Machine and could go back to one concert it’d have to be this one man… just Metallica at their peak

I bet James Kirk and Lars were thinking about Cliff while playing this. Cliff loved the Misfits and frequently wore a misfits shirt.
Fucking loved James and the band back then.

in the same Box with his Bass Tone on justice
And yet, to this day, I have never killed a baby or raped a mother, and I first heard this song when I was like 10 or 12... Yay me!
I saw Metallica in their late 80's early 90's heyday but they never played this Misfits cover. Awesome.......
James is exceptional
his voice was like a V8 raw high octane high timbre vocal unmuffled
