Cute Mourning Doves Make Noise - Mourning Dove Sounds - Bird Calls

  • While sitting in my backyard, I have many mourning doves come to my yard, most of them are silent others can become noisy. In this video are some of the noisiest mourning doves that came to my backyard feeders for a snack. There is rarely a day that the mourning doves don't come to my yard.
    Mourning doves love sitting in my yard, they must feel safe. The mourning doves that are shown in this video are very noisy and make a lot of noise from their wings when flying around they can be loud.
    Mourning Doves perch on wires and forage for seeds on the ground. Mourning Doves make multiple different sounds, this includes a soft coo-oo followed by two or three louder coos, and when taking off or landing, Mourning Doves’ wings make a loud whistling that may help startle predators or warn flock mates.
    Also, in this video, I managed to record mourning doves cooing to their mate.
    People often confuse the sound of a Mourning Dove for an Owl. Most likely Mourning Doves are making these call sounds, not only can their call sound a lot like an owl's hooting, but these skittish blue-gray birds can be found everywhere from window ledges to backyards and bird feeders.
    In this video, I help answer the question of what mourning doves sound like.
    This video includes loud bird calls and sounds with no music.

    I remember hearing this sound when I was four years old and falling in love with it instantly. It was so perplexing at the time not knowing what it was, where it was coming from, and what it even meant to my young mind. I asked my mother what was making the sound and she said "that's a morning dove". "But the sun's coming down, not up”, I replied.I must have thought morning doves only existed in the morning, silly me.
    I am currently 24 now, and hearing this call always gets me in a sentimental mood, as that encounter is one of my earliest, and most cherished memories. Thank you for posting this, as you've helped me bring me back to that moment. I live in Atlanta, where there are roads and buildings everywhere you go. Bird calls don't really exist where I live unfortunately.

      Whoa Mourning* dove
      You perfectly described my feelings about their calls. I’ve been having one perching on my windowsill in the mornings, cooing for extended periods of time. My nostalgia strikes hard... and I’m a little old to be feeling like a kid again,

    • @JukesMcGee
      @JukesMcGee 5 років тому +2

      MrSlanderer I sometimes ponder what the purpose is for us humans to hear the calls of birds which do not even apply to us. For the most part, such calls are dedicated to mating and territorial establishment. Yet, we are somehow able to derive satisfaction from these sounds. I suppose it is a way for us to feel connected with nature, in a sensory way (much like how we can marvel at a great forest valley from atop a cliff.)

    • @MrSlanderer
      @MrSlanderer 5 років тому +3

      Whoa You are right. The day after I replied to you, my little dove friend had a mate with him. They stayed for more than an hour, just sunbathing and cooing... Very precious creatures.

      No need to be spooky. Happy new year! The new covenant will not save you if you continue being rebellious and stubborn against the word of the Lord. It is a sin to steal and a sin to forget the sabbath (saturday). *1 Samuel **15:23** KJV - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.* Witchcraft, sorcery idolatry, witches, sorcerers, idolaters will be cast into hellfire. Only they that are washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments shall be kings and priests. There is no such thing as a sunday rest or sunday sabbath in the Bible. Only the seventh day is blessed, sanctified and hallowed. Isaiah 66:22,23 says that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another shall all flesh worship before the Lord in the new earth. Matthew 7:21-23 proves that not everyone that says Jesus is Lord will enter the kingdom. We need to do the will of the Father which is to obey and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. He kept the sabbath, new moons and holy days while he walked the earth. Why do you keep sunday, Christmas, Easter and January 1st which he never kept? Repent.

    In 1998, 58 years old, a friend and I rode bicycles from Maine to Washington State, 3600 miles. Living in Washington we had never heard mourning doves. We kept thinking they were owls. I love that sound and it brings me back to the middle plains of North Dakota and Montana. In the last 10 years or so doves have moved into our area due to climate change but they have a different call and it just doesn't bring back the same nostalgia. I think they are ringneck doves.

      Because they dont simply create ambience... They make repetitive CONSTANT noise that begins at 6am and continues until the sun goes down and this happens every single day.. No other bird, or any creature for that matter does this.. birds chirping for a while then stopping or leaving is fine.. These doves are beyond acceptability though.. Constant, Repetitive, daily, never ending, annoying sound that is replaced by another dove if you get rid of the first one. I don't care what you say my position on this is not out of the ordinary or something characteristic of an urbanite.. I used to have many many pigeons, around 30 and chickens and parrots... None of them ever annoyed me like these damn doves and they were quite noisy! The difference was their noise was understandable, It wasnt pointless like these doves seemingly are.. It was varied, non-repetitive and at times they were quiet.. The doves are almost like mindless zombies just droning on and on and on for no apparent reason.. I guess its some damn mating call or something but ffs.....

    Omg I remember hearing these sounds as I child when I walked to my elementary school I always used to think it was owls but now I know. Hearing this makes me want to cry because its nostalgic and I don't hear these sounds anymore and I'm only 17...I feel like these birds are steadily disappearing😭

      Toxic Devil Go to a park, or out in the countryside. With the right ambience, you’ll hear them. They are one of the most widespread bird species in the world.

    • @mayagayam
      @mayagayam 5 років тому +2

      Nick Kraieski it’s the way the wings are built, it’s not throat sounds but wing sounds.

    • @MrSlanderer
      @MrSlanderer 5 років тому

      It is the wind going between their wing feathers that make the sound. I, too, used to think it was a vocalization, but learned recently of its true nature.

    You should get some feeder that is more comfortable to doves, they have hard times picking those seeds!
