Cute Mourning Doves Make Noise - Mourning Dove Sounds - Bird Calls

- Опубліковано 13 вер 2024
- While sitting in my backyard, I have many mourning doves come to my yard, most of them are silent others can become noisy. In this video are some of the noisiest mourning doves that came to my backyard feeders for a snack. There is rarely a day that the mourning doves don't come to my yard.
Mourning doves love sitting in my yard, they must feel safe. The mourning doves that are shown in this video are very noisy and make a lot of noise from their wings when flying around they can be loud.
Mourning Doves perch on wires and forage for seeds on the ground. Mourning Doves make multiple different sounds, this includes a soft coo-oo followed by two or three louder coos, and when taking off or landing, Mourning Doves’ wings make a loud whistling that may help startle predators or warn flock mates.
Also, in this video, I managed to record mourning doves cooing to their mate.
People often confuse the sound of a Mourning Dove for an Owl. Most likely Mourning Doves are making these call sounds, not only can their call sound a lot like an owl's hooting, but these skittish blue-gray birds can be found everywhere from window ledges to backyards and bird feeders.
In this video, I help answer the question of what mourning doves sound like.
This video includes loud bird calls and sounds with no music.

They feel safe in your yard. That's a good sign.
Yep, plus there is a large bush to the left side of the property if there is trouble, they can fly off to.
@@charleBerglund its so awesome in Canada you can be arrested now be arrested for posts online that the government doesn’t like. Paradise.

That sound when they fly is so adorable
Wadeem 53 It’s actually their wings making the sound. Learned that myself today.
@@MrSlanderer i dont think so?
MachineSupremacy It is. You have the internet; look it up.
FYI: You not believing doesn’t change facts. Ornithologists are laughing at your ignorance. Delete your comment.
@@MrSlanderer
Holy shit. You sounded SO foolishly pretentious.
It's like that good ol' "facts don't care about your feelings"
Ataraxia Ignorance is not something to be dealt with lightly. It’s best that a person understands just how stupid they are, trusting their opinion over facts.
I remember hearing this sound when I was four years old and falling in love with it instantly. It was so perplexing at the time not knowing what it was, where it was coming from, and what it even meant to my young mind. I asked my mother what was making the sound and she said "that's a morning dove". "But the sun's coming down, not up”, I replied.I must have thought morning doves only existed in the morning, silly me.
I am currently 24 now, and hearing this call always gets me in a sentimental mood, as that encounter is one of my earliest, and most cherished memories. Thank you for posting this, as you've helped me bring me back to that moment. I live in Atlanta, where there are roads and buildings everywhere you go. Bird calls don't really exist where I live unfortunately.
Whoa Mourning* dove
You perfectly described my feelings about their calls. I’ve been having one perching on my windowsill in the mornings, cooing for extended periods of time. My nostalgia strikes hard... and I’m a little old to be feeling like a kid again,
MrSlanderer I sometimes ponder what the purpose is for us humans to hear the calls of birds which do not even apply to us. For the most part, such calls are dedicated to mating and territorial establishment. Yet, we are somehow able to derive satisfaction from these sounds. I suppose it is a way for us to feel connected with nature, in a sensory way (much like how we can marvel at a great forest valley from atop a cliff.)
Whoa You are right. The day after I replied to you, my little dove friend had a mate with him. They stayed for more than an hour, just sunbathing and cooing... Very precious creatures.
Whoa Also, it is widely assumed in the anthropological community that human music derives from our ancestors listening to birds singing.
This sound is annoying as shit
My three favorite sounds: A cat's purr, water (rain, a stream) and cooing doves.
Too bad you don't live in Australia. If you did, then you could listen in the morning to the gentle, melodic cry of the Kookaburra.
@@whazzuphere Oh I've heard that, lol
Yes
No need to be spooky. Happy new year! The new covenant will not save you if you continue being rebellious and stubborn against the word of the Lord. It is a sin to steal and a sin to forget the sabbath (saturday). *1 Samuel **15:23** KJV - For rebellion is as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as iniquity and idolatry. Because thou hast rejected the word of the LORD, he hath also rejected thee from being king.* Witchcraft, sorcery idolatry, witches, sorcerers, idolaters will be cast into hellfire. Only they that are washed in the blood of the Lord Jesus and keep his commandments shall be kings and priests. There is no such thing as a sunday rest or sunday sabbath in the Bible. Only the seventh day is blessed, sanctified and hallowed. Isaiah 66:22,23 says that from one new moon to another and from one sabbath to another shall all flesh worship before the Lord in the new earth. Matthew 7:21-23 proves that not everyone that says Jesus is Lord will enter the kingdom. We need to do the will of the Father which is to obey and honor our Lord Jesus Christ. He kept the sabbath, new moons and holy days while he walked the earth. Why do you keep sunday, Christmas, Easter and January 1st which he never kept? Repent.
Nothing like waking up before everyone else and hearing this while you made coffee. Bonus comfort if it rained the night before so it's still a little Dewey and chilly
Bonus for living in the country or out in the woods
I love doves, i can fall asleep just with the singing of the morning dove.
heeey! Kids Get off My Lawn! Me too
Lol I always thought these sounds were from owls
A long time ago, I thought the same thing :-)
Me too. Then i seen one in front of me & googled to find the kind of bird it was. When i googled, i found a video compilation of birds in maryland. to my surprise the bird started cooing just like the owl sound i thought i heard. Whole time I thought this was a great horned owl cooing. Lol.
Brooke bruh
My friends said the same thing when I asked her to identify the sound. I thought it was a cute answer. 😊
Me too
I love their cooing!
Not noisey at all.I love falling to sleep at night to Great Horned owls if I am lucky to hear one, and to doves during the day..I use to live on a tree farm.with my mom...We would hear many doves cooing...My mother is gone now..I look to Jesus coming, and I am very thankful for all His Creation.
Amber For Christ, amen. Thank you for sharing.
I always thought these beautiful creatures cooing sound was from a great horned owl.
Amber For Christ noisey doesn’t mean bad noise it just means a lot of noise ;p
He attac!
He protacc!
But most Importantly......
He Cooed to attracccc!
I feed 20 pair of these precious doves everyday that visit my yard, and all their babies. Along with squirrels, chipmunks, birds, Turkeys, woodchucks and more.
Lady Cyprus
they could become dependent and haunt this lady.
they make really goofy sounds while they fly and it's so cute😂💕
I love doves! Beautiful bird! I am 68 yrs. Old I have heard doves in the spring all my life!
Any form of dove is a sign from the Lord God know that doves have more power than you think
God bless.
Except he doesn't exist 😹
That sound they make is so soothing.
I currently have one of these beauties nesting around my house. She’s pretty comfortable with people near her, and she uses the feeder we have. I named her Queen 😊
Wow lucky you 💙
That cooing is a mating call. That one bird isn't having a lot of luck.
Dorothy Hoyt-Reed coo to woo
I noticed that too. Maybe he should try flowers
Wait the three coos are a mating call? I respond back with this whenever I hear it.
6to17 ;)
It’s not a mating call it’s a call to mourn there last partner who died
Morning doves are my favorite birds!! :)
Mine too.
Me to
I love that peaceful whistling on thier wings 😍😍
In 1998, 58 years old, a friend and I rode bicycles from Maine to Washington State, 3600 miles. Living in Washington we had never heard mourning doves. We kept thinking they were owls. I love that sound and it brings me back to the middle plains of North Dakota and Montana. In the last 10 years or so doves have moved into our area due to climate change but they have a different call and it just doesn't bring back the same nostalgia. I think they are ringneck doves.
Why would anyone dislike this video
City folks who don't know better.
I wouldn't let them get under your skin. It's merely a number.
Because they dont simply create ambience... They make repetitive CONSTANT noise that begins at 6am and continues until the sun goes down and this happens every single day.. No other bird, or any creature for that matter does this.. birds chirping for a while then stopping or leaving is fine.. These doves are beyond acceptability though.. Constant, Repetitive, daily, never ending, annoying sound that is replaced by another dove if you get rid of the first one. I don't care what you say my position on this is not out of the ordinary or something characteristic of an urbanite.. I used to have many many pigeons, around 30 and chickens and parrots... None of them ever annoyed me like these damn doves and they were quite noisy! The difference was their noise was understandable, It wasnt pointless like these doves seemingly are.. It was varied, non-repetitive and at times they were quiet.. The doves are almost like mindless zombies just droning on and on and on for no apparent reason.. I guess its some damn mating call or something but ffs.....
@@krixxset2214 Please watch your tone.
@@krixxset2214 I love their call
NOW BLUE JAYS ON THE OTHER HAND
as a dove i highly approve of this.
I feed the birds everyday in the morning and try to feed them before they go to sleep, love watching them eat and fight among themselves for food, sometimes I'll tell them to stop fighting and just eat.
You are making this world better by Doing that. As humans we have destroyed nature by constructing here and There. Your actions returns a lot to this planet and all this beautiful creatures. Please dont stop doing that. 🙏
Whenever the birds chirp even doves,I wake up for them and say hi and goodmorning to them
This sound is when you know you need to go home after partying all night long
Cooo-WOOOO! Oooo, oo, oooo.
Morning Doves so cute 🥰 and so sweet 💗🎉🎉
These birds are so sweet. I love doves. ❤️
Sure get enough of these birds where I live. Cracks me up when people try to tell me that they are Owls making that sound. I tell them they are Doves and of course I don't know what I am talking about. Love the sound of these birds and others in the early morning.
I thought they were owls up until today! I am very relieved that it’s not, I have been worrying about my little dogs unnecessarily.
It’s funny that people mistake their coo’ing to an owl .. to me it sounds nothing like an owl.. but then again I’m a bird 🐦 lover..
My entire life , no matter where I move. Where ever I am, they are always there. Singing their little, and quite calming song. When ever I hear their call I feel safe.
They squeak when they fly, cute. There are lots in my yard but they are usually silent.
Love 💘 😻 💜 💛 💚 🧡 💘 those doves!!!
We have mourning doves here in New Jersey. I’ve heard their calls all the time in the spring and summer while I was growing up.
The mourning dove and chickadee are my favorite birds
Im crying they are so adorable 🥺
Wow, they are beautiful. And they sound so pretty. They seem like they're ground feeders. I like having them around. Love the sound. Thanks for sharing.
pj Finn I oftentimes see these little guys feeding along dirtroads out in the countryside. They always wait till the last second to dodge my oncoming car, then come right back after I pass.
Their wings sound so squeaky when they flap them! 😆
i have these all over my house. not complaining though 🥰 i wake up every morning to snow and these subtle bird sounds
I love birds and Doves
lovely cute beauties
They're so cute! That was a complete third wheel!!!
Just love Doves! My backyard has usually fourteen Doves during the day. I buy special Dove seed mix and they love it. They sleep in my one large pine tree. Always love their call. So soothing.
I’d rather hear this any day, noon or night.. rather then hear a Fox screeching murderous cries .. 😂 but just like most who wasn’t familiar with the sound of The Morning Dove I too thought it was owls
Their wing whistles sound like Peter Griffin’s laugh.
The other ones I hear are to deep, these are the squeaky ones I always hear. this is the right one, thanks!
The squeaky sounds are their wings. They have a low vocal range, but they can actually communicate through the sounds their wings make in flight.
Such beautiful birds!
Morning Doves singing always calms me for some reason.
I love listening to them in the evening.
Cool grew up hearing this sound in St.Croix United Virgin Islands.
This whole time I thought it was owls! 😂🤣
I wake up every morning to this sound❤️
Had two in my garden for hours the other day...eating at the bird seed ... I love their song
May they visit you each and every day from now on until the end of time and announce their arrival at 6am to you making sure to keep you aware of their presence with a repeating coo every second until the sun goes down! How much love you shall be filled with by the never ending mono-tone 1 second long repeating song. The behaviour seemingly without purpose and not practised by any other creature known in nature.. Ya damn fool!
thanks! i had no idea what bird made that sound!
So,,very,,beautiful,,.and,,so,,,peaceful,,i,,love,,the,sounds, they,,make,,,,they,,are,,peace,,and,,love,,to,,me 😥😉😚😚🙄😄😍😘
So cute I love them
I wake to them as soon as s[ring comes every morning. I always called them the who who birds, but now know they are doves xx
this is so beautiful
So relaxing to hear them😊
there are tons of these in my neighborhood and i love them
I use this to call.the birds its so cool!!
I love their sound. I love to wake to that sound!
My name Cullen means little dove 🕊 And thats The Truth of The matter of fact And i AM Glad that it does mean that Sir.
Looks like they are struggling to stay on the feeders! They need more room!
I put my feeder on the ground for this reason.
pǝʇɐɹɹǝʌo ǝɹɐ sǝɯɐuɹǝsn putting it on a post is better. Squirrels aren’t able to grip smooth surfaces, and they do compete with the birds for birdseed.

One of my favorite bird sounds (Tucson, AZ).
I have one and the sound is driving me crazy!
So low ahh. Lucky you,! The doves on our block are so loud neighbors complain 😊🕊️ .. We can hear the doves on the street poles over our tvs ..sigh
A few of these like to visit my balcony, it's a shame they're so skittish, they're soo darn cute.
Peaceful 🕊
i hear this every morning

I'm caring for an injured mourning dove right now, and playing this for her has helped calm her down. Thank you for posting!
You got some pretty peaceful doves! The doves in my backyard are always having skirmishes😅
I've been hearing this sound every dang morning since Spring began, I thought it was an Owl, my son said its not I told him he's wrong and I'll be dang, I'm wrong. Lol
I thought that's what I just heard lol.right outside my window 6am
Sounds like an owl
They can be noisy at times but, mourning doves are very cute birds.
thats what i truly believed this call was from when i was like 3-4 lol
It took me 58 years to realize this is not the sound of an owl 🦉! Am I the only one? @0:21
0:03 its really cute how that mourning dove opens its mouth when it hears a call
They're accurately called rural pigeons, except that they're not pests
Omg I remember hearing these sounds as I child when I walked to my elementary school I always used to think it was owls but now I know. Hearing this makes me want to cry because its nostalgic and I don't hear these sounds anymore and I'm only 17...I feel like these birds are steadily disappearing😭
Toxic Devil Go to a park, or out in the countryside. With the right ambience, you’ll hear them. They are one of the most widespread bird species in the world.
@@MrSlanderer I've never heard them at the parks I go to. Maybe I'll try the countryside
Toxic Devil I tend to see them along dirt roads.
You probably 18 now but happy late birthday
Pov: it's a sunny morning in 2005 waking up to hearing this, then getting up to play GTA on the PlayStation 2
They always sound like owls (°▽°)
I'd rather listen to them than an obnoxious mocking bird any day
@@saphireYE Spoken like a person who's never had an annoying mockingbird screeching away when they're trying to nap on their day off or going at it at 3-4 am.

There was a whole bunch of Mourning Doves in my yard yesterday, I enjoy watching them.
Guinea pigs of the sky
Thanks
I wonder what's with all the piping while they fly?
Nick Kraieski it’s the way the wings are built, it’s not throat sounds but wing sounds.
It is the wind going between their wing feathers that make the sound. I, too, used to think it was a vocalization, but learned recently of its true nature.
You should get some feeder that is more comfortable to doves, they have hard times picking those seeds!
Always thought it was annoying. Maybe I was always hungover.
