  • It is very easy to deadhead perennials like Stokes Aster. This one was a Mother's Day gift from Valen last year! The color is amazing.
(Sorry for the hammering sounds in the background! Can't stop the man from doing his important projects!)

Very helpful, thank you! I was having a hard time figuring out the spent flowers from the new buds. 😊

I appreciate the close up detail and descriptions of how to tell the difference between the spent blooms and the buds.
I also appreciate the lack of a long introduction, and that you speak softly.

Great video although I'm finding it difficult to identify the spent buds!

Yes! Me too. They all look similar. If you look closely, the new ones have a fresh center and the old ones are more dried out. The old ones feel lighter and less dense, but they really are super similar. I tried to find some new ones to post pics of new vs old for you, but mine are all spent (I even drove over to where I volunteer garden to find some, but there aren't any growing there!)

    Why are you whispering?

      Because it's asmr.
Jk No because I don't want my neighbors to hear me and I'm a nervous wreck :)

@@GrowingHomeGardening Haha! I love that response! I found your voice calming, and along with the snipping noise it nearly was ASMR, save for the hammering in the background. Haha. Anyway, thanks for the tutorial!

They do? Is it the flowers or the leaves? I've noticed that mine tend to look wilted on hot days while other plants look fine. They seem to want water more often or earlier in the day, before it gets hot, then maybe again mid-day. But not always. It's been raining a lot here in Michigan this summer, so I haven't had that problem this year, but last year they were droopy quite often.
