Just ordered my gladiator rubicon eco diesel and I can’t wait for it to arrive 😃😃😃 thanks for the video
How long do you have to wait?
Hey Justin, two notes to add to this topic. What I'm understanding with regards to towing capacity being less than the gas V3.6 is that the EcoDiesel has only been down graded due to the potential of overheating in the radiator due to the small grill area of the Jeep. That 3.0 EcoDiesel motor is more than capable to tow heavier loads and the Gladiator's frame should be more than capable to handle the equivalent to the V3.6 gas or even more but this Gladiator's cooling system is not up to par (that means the radiator is to small for this motor) so Jeep doesn't give it the high tow rate blessing. The Dodge Ram 1500 EcoDiesel (which is the same motor as the Gladiator) has a tow capacity of 12,560 lbs (you will have to convert that to KG for the Canadian residences). Note number 2, Yes, the EcoDiesel did cost more, mine cost about $4500 more down here in the States but in exchange for that cost, I got a 100,000 mile drivetrain warranty with that EcoDiesel (again, you will need to convert that to kilometers) so that extra $4500 is more than equivalent to an extended warranty on the Gas V3.6 or 2.0 motor. On a side note, when I bought my Gladiator the dealer had a $2000 loyalty discount because I was a current Jeep owner plus they had a $1500 off if I financed with them and it was a holiday weekend so they took another $1000 of so my EcoDiesel was technically free and I bought it in May 2021 and there was no dealer mark-up. I believe all diesels come with that extend 100k drivetrain warranty and that alone should mitigate some of the cost concerns. I will just have to shop for a more efficient cooling system if I ever want to tow larger loads. My Jeep JT diesel is so much more fun to drive than my 2019 Wrangler JL, the power is so much more noticeable and the truck frame is more stable than the JL. Good topic and nice video, keep Jeepin *||||*
Thanks for the input, super useful! Also, Merry Christmas from snowy Sudbury!
yes it is...even the guys i meet wheeling agree. Diesel is better even than the Hemi.
Couple of things. This truck also need def? and what about diesel freezing? Although the engine warms up as you drive, the fuel tank is located far away from the engine, and it remains cold. This can lead to diesel fuel gelling, even while you're driving down the road. Has anyone had expirience with that?
How is it with that much torque, towing isn’t that good??
When I was looking at them last fall I believe it’s because with the traditional jeep grille it isn’t able to cool the diesel well enough to increase the towing capacity. The diesel will tow “better” than the gas due to lower rpms and better mpgs as long as it’s within the capacity.
@@KevinHuberty yep it tows a lot better just not in hot weather. So pretty much if you live in the south don't try to tow over 3500 without distribution hitch
because of cooling epa made em lower GW
Let drivers go “FARTHER”. “FARTHER” is a measure of distance. “FURTHER”, is a measure of degree.
Masks in the open woods. Ok
Workplace regulations with camera operator in the car. People are still whining about masks???
@@JustinPritchard "People are still whining about masks???" -- FU. Way to turn off anyone to your channel. Put two masks on to please your masters.
Enough with the face diapers.
Lol, this video is 2 years old. HOW ARE YOU PEOPLE STILL WHINING ABOUT MASKS?!
@@JustinPritchard because face diapers was and still is a stupid idea.
"Is the 2021 Jeep Gladiator EcoDiesel Worth The Money??"
No, at least IMO...
I definitely didn't think the diesel engine was "worth it" so my recently-purchased Gladiator Rubicon has the V6 gas Pentastar engine in it.
But I'm not just talking Jeeps: I'd not want a diesel engine in ANY of my vehicles.
Nor do I want anything electric, even though they seem to be coming whether we want them or not. :-(
