What I find really cool about the quintet's transformations is that they all use their witches' motifs. Mami/Candeloro the *dress up* witch incorporates paper dolls. Kyouko/Ophelia the *wudan* witch has her followers who seem to have flames for heads. Sayaka/Octavia the *mermaid* witch has her sirens and water themes. Homura/Homulily the *nutcracker* witch is shown doing ballet. Madoka/Kriemhild Gretchen the *salvation* witch has her space motifs. There's also hints of Ultimate Madoka with her sigil and the girls she will rescue when the time comes.

Homura's is all about rewinding but with each rewind she slowly falls out of synch and is trapped. Madoka is there with all the magical girls looking for them and rises above it all. Sayaka just keeps falling deeper and deeper as her friends try to deal with her.
Sayaka's actually has symbolism in it. Mami is the first magical girl to meet her and convinces her to become a magical girl. Then Mami throws her to Madoka, probably symbolizing when she dies, Madoka is the one who takes care of Sayaka until Kyouko arrives. Madoka then throws Sayaka on the bed, symbolizing how Sayaka goes to Madoka for comfort. Then Homura scoops her up and throws her like a trash bag, symbolizing how she and Sayaka didn't get along well. Kyouko then catches her and gives her the hairclip, symbolizing how Kyouko comes as a rival to friend quickly. If you don't know already, the hairclip symbol is a symbol is music than means very loud. I hope this clears up the symbolism.

Its funny to think that despite the anime being about Madoka, Sayaka's transformation perfectly reminds everyone that the actual journey we saw of a rookie magical girl learning how to fight, learning the dark truth and eventually falling victim was all Sayaka. For someone introduced as 'the best friend character', she had such a leading role which makes me happy to see symbolised in her transformation.
I think that Homura loop also give Sayaka the same karmic stuff like Madoka (except not enough to make her as strong) which in turn make QB want to contract her too
I think that the series revolves around Madoka but is actually about Homura. Every event is pretty much done due to Homura's interference in the lives of everyone else and the series essentially follows the journey Homura makes to meet her ultimate goal, which is Madoka. No doubt that Sayaka is the most important side character though. The rise and fall of Sayaka Miki represents the truth to what a Magical Girl really is. Her story opens Madoka's eyes to the cruel reality of magical girls and gave her the idea to create a wish which ultimate led to her becoming a God. Meanwhile, Sayaka is also a reminder of the future Homura is desperately trying to avoid as well as a reminder of the fate she will endure if she were to ever give up on her wish.
I just realized how brutal Kyoko's animation is. It's almost as if she's transitioning into a witch rather than a magical girl. But you can maybe also think of it as 'burning the past away'. Sayaka's animation is very lovely. During her transformation she's supported by all her friends who carry her through her duties.
Mami’s sequence is a good match for her. The world of fashion and glamour can seem like a dream come true for those of us who aren’t a part of it, but it’s deeper and darker than we realize. It’s hard work. It’s cutthroat competition and endless rivalry. It’s stress. It’s moments of self doubt and nights without sleep, it’s a life in the spotlight, and all the lack of privacy that that entails. It’s...well...WORK. It’s funny, and fitting, that Mami, who herself has this veneer of glamour and elegance and beauty about her, has her sequence matching up with the world of fashion and modeling. Both are deceptively beautiful and alluring, and both are much deeper and darker than first glance. Because as a magical girl, she doesn’t live the life of a celebrity - she lives the life of a soldier.

Fun fact! The PSP game has Mami become an idol in the bonus route, a successful one at that, and she's quite happy with herself (she still occasionally takes part in witch hunts when she has the time). That way, she stops feeling alone thanks to her fans' adoration

They look so older before they fully transform, like Mami looking actually older in her fashion bit before she curls up her hair, Kyoko being significantly taller before she grabs her soulgem, Sayaka having long hair before being washed away in the water, glimpses of Homura in Moemura's transformation and if you pause at the 2:01 mark where Madoka begins transforming, you see her hair really long, not Godoka long but still long while a bright light absorbs her. Symbolizes them throwing away their possible maturity and aging for temporary power since they all died/erased from existence/becomes the devil at the end??
It’s interesting that you can actually catch a glimpse of how each of the girls could look like when they’re older. Mami in her dress-up photoshoots and "tapping" her Soul Gem. Kyoko as she slowly descends the stairs. Sayaka as she is stopped by Kyoko and briefly basking at the end. Homura's apparently looking the same, but her grown-up self just doesn't have the braided tails. Madoka as she watches her elder self fall to her, even reflected in her eyes. Although for they to transform back into their younger magical selves makes you think their grown up life had to be part of their sacrifice with the contract...
I think homura looks the same since she keeps time travelling back to save madoka meaning shes conscious about the time passing unlike the others but due to the time loops she is never gonna get a older body
The way I see everything here... Warning, spoilers ahead: Mami's transformation is the one I find most elegant. She looks beautiful with long hair, and in her transformation she looks really mature- She's also the main veteran fighter amongst the magical girls, and we see the real power behind her in Rebellion when she engages in battle with Homura. Then as for Kyoko, she matures more too. In the series she's kind of rash and seems confident all the time and usually has that little smirk of hers whenever taunting Sayaka or Kyuubey. In her transformation however, we see glimpses of her past and how she came to be. As she starts burning, we can see that she is taller than usual before she grasps her soul gem and her transformation is complete. Instead of a smirk like her other transformations in the series, we see her bearing a serious expression, showing how much she's changed throughout the story upon meeting Sayaka and becoming a magical girl. Then there's Sayaka- I love her transformation scene. Everyone is just kind of throwing her around and pushing her everywhere. Homura though- She looks like she's having some fun there. However, I think that the other girls throwing her around is very symbolic. It makes her transformation my personal favourite. Here's an incoming long theory why. Mami helped give her the push into the magical girl world and she adopted the idea of making the world a better place from her. Madoka hugs her before throwing her off. Madoka shows a great amount of care for Sayaka as she is her good friend. Then Sayaka is absorbed into a bed and Homura is seen tossing her around in a white sheet that becomes her cape later on. In Rebellion, Sayaka plays a big part in defeating the "nightmares" that Hitomi has about Kyosuke. Thus explaining the bed. When she gets absorbed by it, I see it as her becoming a part of the fake reality that in Rebllion from Homulily's labyrinth. Homura is then tossing her around- Homulily is Homura's witch form. Homura created the fake reality which has Sayaka enveloped inside it. That's why she's tossing her around. When she is released, she crashes into Kyoko who just gently pats her. Finally, Sayaka starts moving on her own as Kyoko touches her. Sayaka believes she is all alone after losing Kyosuke to one of her good friends Hitomi, and it's how she became Oktavia. In her final death scene, Kyoko kills her along with herself so that Sayaka won't be alone in death since she knows the pain of being alone due to her losing her family. In Rebellion, she and Sayaka become closer, and they're not longer alone because they have each other. Sayaka becomes more independent because of Kyoko now that she knows that she won't be by herself for sure. In Rebellion, she noticeably matures, explaining her longer hair. Then her transformation is complete. Then for Homura- my second favourite transformation and my favourite character. Homura is seen spinning around aimlessly, and in the series she keeps travelling through an endless loop of time to save Madoka knowing she cannot be saved. She spins around in the same time with a goal that she cannot obtain. She is surrounded by papers, showing how much time, research, and effort she has put into trying to save Madoka. Then we see Madoka herself. She is surrounded by other magical girls, symbolizing how all of their fates are up to her when she becomes Madokami. Then we see the shot of Homura- Madoka made her choice of becoming a goddess because of Homura opening her eyes to the fact that magical girls are destined to suffer. Madoka then reaches towards Madokami. She is accepting that she is taking a new role on herself as someone who decides fate and she cannot return from this decision- until Homura changes that in Rebellion of course. Perhaps I'm over analyzing this but...I think it's very symbolic and that each transformation is very detailed.

Actually, in their magical girl transformations you can see them as adults: Mami- The scene where she is dressing up and posing Kyoko- When she walks down the stairs Sayaka- kinda obvious (when she is getting thrown around) Homura- When a is stepping on paper and you can see her wearing glasses with her hair down Madoka- When their are two madokas, and the goddess looking one (above her) is actually her adult side and hen it's getting to the end you can see her in her magical girl suit with long hair and you .ca probably notice she is a bit bigger than before

The symbolism is more linked to their witch forms and backgrounds: Mami : Representation of the PSP story where she becomes a fashion model, however more linked to how her witch is called Candeloro and is referred to as the dress up witch. Kyoko: Her life of luxury and self-care symbolised by the game at the start, later referring to her wish and the whole worship side. Her little sister blows a flame to show how the wish destroyed her whole family and links to Kyoko’s witch Ophelia and the illusion magic she posses (plus the form of the witch as a candle flame.) Sayaka: Her relationships and how she feels towards all the other girls, Mami and Madoka transforming her to her basic attire as they are her mentors in some timeline, Homura shaking her as they have a rocky relationship and Kyoko stopping and saving her. The water, music and mermaids at the start obviously refer to Oktavia her witch form who is a composer and mermaid. Homura: Refers to her timelines and how many times she has repeated, the leaflets of the Magia Record main characters show the investigation into how Kamihara can release and save magical girls and the rumours around it, and then just referring to her witch Homulily and how she is destined to repeat time and rewind her funeral procession, linking to her time magic and the plant within the orb, always withering back to its seed state. Madoka: Representation of her many timeline selves and how she is trapped in a repeating fate alongside her witch Grimhield as she catches Iroha and shows salvation towards the other girls. The stirring rod represents how Madoka’s fate isn’t in her own hands and she continues to manipulated by the timelines and shoved around in a whirlwind of fate.

tsuyu asui Ahh! Basically the phrase is shrouded in mystery and is used by the Antagonists of the game. They believe they can save magical girls by RELEASING them from their fate. In the game, Kamihara city has a weird phenomenon which allows Magical Girls to summon their witches in the form of a doppel. A doppel occurs when a magical girl’s soul gem becomes fully tainted, and instead of turning into a witch, they summon a witch to deliver a powerful attack, their soul gem is then purified much like a grief seed would purify their gem and in turn the magical girl is saved.
I've noticed in their transformations is that they have aged noticably: mami looked more mature and had longer hair... Kyouko became alittle taller... Sayaka looked matured, taller and had longer hair, idk about homura and madoka
Yea- everyone's had either longer or unadorned hair at some point! ^o^ Mami's turned from waist-length back to chest-length just before she snapped her curls into place; Homura and Kyoko had their hair down at some point before gaining braids and hair ties respectively; Madoka's and Sayaka's were the most obvious since they had short hair pre and post-transformation!

Homura's part is very unique in Sayaka's transformation. She's the only one that doesn't get a close up, never shows her face, and doesn't touch Sayaka at all.

Oh wow, I just realized something: in Madoka's transformation, during that blink-and-you'll-miss-it sequence with Homura (slow the video all the way down then pause at around 1:50), the window Homura is looking out of is the same window that was shown tied shut during the stinger in Rebellion! (Another fun blink-and-you'll-miss-it moment: just before the same sequence, all the Magia Record girls look upwards.)
I agree. Maybe it's because transformations are often focused on clothes changing while the wearer dances or does some movements, and no one else being present.
But it makes sense for her. She threw herself into being a Magical Girl, and everyone around her just influenced her decision. Kyoko was the only one who made her stop and think about what she was doing by the end of her arc.
Kyoko's made me sad, but when she started burning up I cried like a baby. Her dad, when he figured out she was a magical girl, called her a witch (they used to burn witches at the stake), it could symbolize that she constantly lives with the guilt of her family's death and thinks of herself as a curse or a witch because of it..

I love how each of there transformation shows something important about each of the characters and their role in the show Mami: Dolls and Fashion models represent her being the Ideal magical girl. The girl everyone wants to be. Kyoko: It's starts out cute and silly but it slowly delves into her tragic back story showing her as one of the more deeper characters just trying to keep her head up and be cheerful. Sayaka: This transformation features the other Magi's. Her friend. In all Puella Magi media Sayaka is constantly shown to be the character who care deeply about all of her friend. This often gets her into trouble, hense them tossing re around. Also, music notes. Homura: This one, has a million Homura's doing the same dance, thus showing her doing the same things over and over again for Madoka: This shows atone of different Puella magi. This shows her being their goddess and being in charge of using her powers to watch over all of them. It also ends with her flying in the sky for the same reason. I love this anime and it's surreal symbolism.

I like that Madoka's transformation has the rainbow color changing in the background, since rainbows are symbolic of hope and happiness (which is what she wanted magical girls to have when she wished to erase witches in Puella Magi Madoka Magica's main storyline) I also like the throwbacks some of the transformations have to major things in the main anime (multiple images of Madoka in her magical girl in her transformation, referencing how many times Homura tried to save her in the main anime before she made her final wish to become Ultimate Madoka, and a figurine blowing at Kyoko's soul gem in her transformation, which reminds me of the fact that in the main anime she kissed her soul gem right before sacrificing herself to defeat Octavia)
I'm just gonna make this comment again here because I almost ended up arguing with someone with what I said.... Just seeing a brief glimpse of the older version of the girls is a deep reminder of the future that's been robbed of them by Kyubey. Because he played with their emotions, actively chose not to disclose the fact that they'll inevitably become witches, knew which age group to target. They are destined to suffer from their fate because of him. Hear me out. If you argue that it wasn't Kyubey's fault, chose not to disclose that part because they didn't ask, and that he doesn't have emotions to understand, he has observed long enough and knows what to say to get a girl to agree in becoming a magical girl. It's already evident that Madoka and the others aren't the first to agree in becoming one in exchange of their wish to come true. Look at the end of one of the timelines Homura witnessed. Kyubey knew what to say to Madoka as they watched Homura was lose the one fight that could have ended the need to loop time. He used the situation to his advantage. Same with every single girl that's come in contact with the little fucker. Sayaka would never have become a magical girl if he hadn't told her that he can grant one wish in exchange for her eternal service! Kyubey doesn't care what happens to the girls. What matters is that they get their job done while they observe and experiment

OK I like how 3 outta the 4 look like they matured, even a bit, in their time however homura seems to be exactly as her character is laid out: forever stuck in the time of mistrust, anger, lies, and immaturity.
Very very very nice compilation! Buuut I think Mami's, Kyoko's, and Homura's transformation would sound WAY better if you pause a beat or two on their respective "touch the screen" part. I know Sayaka has one too but Sayaka's is the opposite and the music flows better without pause, just like in this video right now. Madoka doesn't have a touch screen pause though, so she's cool. Maybe reupload this with the pause if you have the time? I'd be so happy if you do.
I love the references to their witches Mami: paper dolls changing clothes because Candeloro is the dress-up witch. Kyoko: the flaming people in kimonos are a reference to Zoe, the familiars of Ophelia, the wudan witch. Sayaka: has the underwater motifs and musical notes of Oktavia, the mermaid witch. Homura: Has her dancing ballet and her soul gem breaking, a reference to Homulilly, the nutcracker witch. Madoka: She reaches up to the sky in the same way Kriemhild Gretchen, the salvation witch does. Ultimate Madoka: She approaches and embraces Earth in a gigantic size, just like Ultimate Kriemhild Gretchen in the last episode of the original series.
I noticed that Homura's scene has this bit where it looks like a streaming video buffering ring. That's both really clever and so hilarious I laughed out loud.
I think all of these transformations are pretty solid. Kyoko's is my favourite - after all she is my favourite character - and there are just SO many aspects of her transformation that I love! (The arcade with the dancing Yuma's, the fact that she looking STUNNING in her black dress, her little sister, the music, the fire, the effects with the hands. All of it was cool) I think I like Homura's next, purely because it's so atmospheric and the music is beautiful. The use of the split screen is smart and intriguing, and just love the over all "mysterious" feel to it. Lots of symbolism too which is awesome. Madoka's just gets me emotional every time. It's symbolic, visually stunning and moving. And she looks adorable when reaching out to her Goddess self. I think I like Mami's next. The fashion part is cute, but it kinda threw me off. However, I love the second part of her transformation. She looks GORGEOUS and so mature!! It brought a tear to my eye to see her looking older. Lastly, Sayaka (which also fits because she is my least favourite). I don't mind her transformation. The girls joining in to make small cameos was surprising and quite cute (And Homura was freaking hilarious). The only part I really love about hers is her LONG HAIR. My does she look pretty! And that's about it.
I'm just constantly worried that all their transformations show them, briefly, as adults in this life before those are rejected and we're brought back to "current" them. Whaddya wanna bet those older snapshots are how old they'd all be in a proper timeline where they haven't been stuck in a month-long time loop for years? It's subtle and chilling.
So, i noticed just now after watching this like A LOT. If you see the end of each transformation, you can see everyone is smiling. EXCEPT my favorite character, Kyouko. She's also have her face is like covered in shadow because the fire behind her when she's facing the screen. And everyone else has their face is look bright while facing the screen. Am i the only one thingking this is might be have a connection to the next movie or the game or it's just a concidence??
I really like that all of their mature forms are replaced with them as magical girls, since a magical girl's body doesn't age after the contract has been formed (or at least thats how i remember it)
Well, as some of you guys already noticed, those Rune characters in each of the first scene surreptitiously change the spelling of PMMM. Instead, it actually means 'PUELLA MAGI MADOK☆MAGICA.' They omitted the letter 'A' everytime, but I don't think this is just a mistake. In fact, Shaft initially asked just the normal logo of PMMM for their new transformation videos, but those eventually were changed, missing the letter 'A.' This is because Gekidan Inu Curry suggested to make them in this way, I guess. Fans from some forums are arguing that this must be another symbol of twists and turns in Magia Record which we don't figure out yet, but on the other hand, many are thinking that it also could be a humble signal saying "Take it easy guys; this story is irrelevant to PMMM TV Show and Rebellion. It's just PMMM-like bittersweet story. Don't take this too seriously!"

Its funny to think that despite the anime being about Madoka, Sayaka's transformation perfectly reminds everyone that the actual journey we saw of a rookie magical girl learning how to fight, learning the dark truth and eventually falling victim was all Sayaka. For someone introduced as 'the best friend character', she had such a leading role which makes me happy to see symbolised in her transformation.
She's still the Hitomi level of best friend character in the first few timelines tho
I think that Homura loop also give Sayaka the same karmic stuff like Madoka (except not enough to make her as strong) which in turn make QB want to contract her too
I think that the series revolves around Madoka but is actually about Homura. Every event is pretty much done due to Homura's interference in the lives of everyone else and the series essentially follows the journey Homura makes to meet her ultimate goal, which is Madoka.
No doubt that Sayaka is the most important side character though. The rise and fall of Sayaka Miki represents the truth to what a Magical Girl really is. Her story opens Madoka's eyes to the cruel reality of magical girls and gave her the idea to create a wish which ultimate led to her becoming a God. Meanwhile, Sayaka is also a reminder of the future Homura is desperately trying to avoid as well as a reminder of the fate she will endure if she were to ever give up on her wish.

Sayaka's animation is very lovely. During her transformation she's supported by all her friends who carry her through her duties.
That or it resembles her father who was showcased as a flame in the series, burning down his paper made family.

They look so older before they fully transform, like Mami looking actually older in her fashion bit before she curls up her hair, Kyoko being significantly taller before she grabs her soulgem, Sayaka having long hair before being washed away in the water, glimpses of Homura in Moemura's transformation and if you pause at the 2:01 mark where Madoka begins transforming, you see her hair really long, not Godoka long but still long while a bright light absorbs her.

It’s interesting that you can actually catch a glimpse of how each of the girls could look like when they’re older.
Mami in her dress-up photoshoots and "tapping" her Soul Gem. Kyoko as she slowly descends the stairs. Sayaka as she is stopped by Kyoko and briefly basking at the end. Homura's apparently looking the same, but her grown-up self just doesn't have the braided tails. Madoka as she watches her elder self fall to her, even reflected in her eyes.
Although for they to transform back into their younger magical selves makes you think their grown up life had to be part of their sacrifice with the contract...
I think homura looks the same since she keeps time travelling back to save madoka meaning shes conscious about the time passing unlike the others but due to the time loops she is never gonna get a older body

Warning, spoilers ahead:
Mami's transformation is the one I find most elegant. She looks beautiful with long hair, and in her transformation she looks really mature- She's also the main veteran fighter amongst the magical girls, and we see the real power behind her in Rebellion when she engages in battle with Homura.
Then as for Kyoko, she matures more too. In the series she's kind of rash and seems confident all the time and usually has that little smirk of hers whenever taunting Sayaka or Kyuubey. In her transformation however, we see glimpses of her past and how she came to be. As she starts burning, we can see that she is taller than usual before she grasps her soul gem and her transformation is complete. Instead of a smirk like her other transformations in the series, we see her bearing a serious expression, showing how much she's changed throughout the story upon meeting Sayaka and becoming a magical girl.
Then there's Sayaka- I love her transformation scene. Everyone is just kind of throwing her around and pushing her everywhere. Homura though- She looks like she's having some fun there. However, I think that the other girls throwing her around is very symbolic. It makes her transformation my personal favourite. Here's an incoming long theory why. Mami helped give her the push into the magical girl world and she adopted the idea of making the world a better place from her. Madoka hugs her before throwing her off. Madoka shows a great amount of care for Sayaka as she is her good friend. Then Sayaka is absorbed into a bed and Homura is seen tossing her around in a white sheet that becomes her cape later on. In Rebellion, Sayaka plays a big part in defeating the "nightmares" that Hitomi has about Kyosuke. Thus explaining the bed. When she gets absorbed by it, I see it as her becoming a part of the fake reality that in Rebllion from Homulily's labyrinth. Homura is then tossing her around- Homulily is Homura's witch form. Homura created the fake reality which has Sayaka enveloped inside it. That's why she's tossing her around. When she is released, she crashes into Kyoko who just gently pats her. Finally, Sayaka starts moving on her own as Kyoko touches her. Sayaka believes she is all alone after losing Kyosuke to one of her good friends Hitomi, and it's how she became Oktavia. In her final death scene, Kyoko kills her along with herself so that Sayaka won't be alone in death since she knows the pain of being alone due to her losing her family. In Rebellion, she and Sayaka become closer, and they're not longer alone because they have each other. Sayaka becomes more independent because of Kyoko now that she knows that she won't be by herself for sure. In Rebellion, she noticeably matures, explaining her longer hair. Then her transformation is complete.
Then for Homura- my second favourite transformation and my favourite character. Homura is seen spinning around aimlessly, and in the series she keeps travelling through an endless loop of time to save Madoka knowing she cannot be saved. She spins around in the same time with a goal that she cannot obtain. She is surrounded by papers, showing how much time, research, and effort she has put into trying to save Madoka.
Then we see Madoka herself. She is surrounded by other magical girls, symbolizing how all of their fates are up to her when she becomes Madokami. Then we see the shot of Homura- Madoka made her choice of becoming a goddess because of Homura opening her eyes to the fact that magical girls are destined to suffer. Madoka then reaches towards Madokami. She is accepting that she is taking a new role on herself as someone who decides fate and she cannot return from this decision- until Homura changes that in Rebellion of course.
Perhaps I'm over analyzing this but...I think it's very symbolic and that each transformation is very detailed.

Sayaka- kinda obvious (when she is getting thrown around)

Mami : Representation of the PSP story where she becomes a fashion model, however more linked to how her witch is called Candeloro and is referred to as the dress up witch.
Kyoko: Her life of luxury and self-care symbolised by the game at the start, later referring to her wish and the whole worship side. Her little sister blows a flame to show how the wish destroyed her whole family and links to Kyoko’s witch Ophelia and the illusion magic she posses (plus the form of the witch as a candle flame.)
Sayaka: Her relationships and how she feels towards all the other girls, Mami and Madoka transforming her to her basic attire as they are her mentors in some timeline, Homura shaking her as they have a rocky relationship and Kyoko stopping and saving her. The water, music and mermaids at the start obviously refer to Oktavia her witch form who is a composer and mermaid.
Homura: Refers to her timelines and how many times she has repeated, the leaflets of the Magia Record main characters show the investigation into how Kamihara can release and save magical girls and the rumours around it, and then just referring to her witch Homulily and how she is destined to repeat time and rewind her funeral procession, linking to her time magic and the plant within the orb, always withering back to its seed state.
Madoka: Representation of her many timeline selves and how she is trapped in a repeating fate alongside her witch Grimhield as she catches Iroha and shows salvation towards the other girls. The stirring rod represents how Madoka’s fate isn’t in her own hands and she continues to manipulated by the timelines and shoved around in a whirlwind of fate.

tsuyu asui Ahh! Basically the phrase is shrouded in mystery and is used by the Antagonists of the game. They believe they can save magical girls by RELEASING them from their fate. In the game, Kamihara city has a weird phenomenon which allows Magical Girls to summon their witches in the form of a doppel. A doppel occurs when a magical girl’s soul gem becomes fully tainted, and instead of turning into a witch, they summon a witch to deliver a powerful attack, their soul gem is then purified much like a grief seed would purify their gem and in turn the magical girl is saved.
I've noticed in their transformations is that they have aged noticably: mami looked more mature and had longer hair...

Maybe it's because transformations are often focused on clothes changing while the wearer dances or does some movements, and no one else being present.
But it makes sense for her. She threw herself into being a Magical Girl, and everyone around her just influenced her decision. Kyoko was the only one who made her stop and think about what she was doing by the end of her arc.

I love how each of there transformation shows something important about each of the characters and their role in the show
Mami: Dolls and Fashion models represent her being the Ideal magical girl. The girl everyone wants to be.
Kyoko: It's starts out cute and silly but it slowly delves into her tragic back story showing her as one of the more deeper characters just trying to keep her head up and be cheerful.
Sayaka: This transformation features the other Magi's. Her friend. In all Puella Magi media Sayaka is constantly shown to be the character who care deeply about all of her friend. This often gets her into trouble, hense them tossing re around. Also, music notes.
Homura: This one, has a million Homura's doing the same dance, thus showing her doing the same things over and over again for Madoka: This shows atone of different Puella magi. This shows her being their goddess and being in charge of using her powers to watch over all of them. It also ends with her flying in the sky for the same reason.
I love this anime and it's surreal symbolism.

I also like the throwbacks some of the transformations have to major things in the main anime (multiple images of Madoka in her magical girl in her transformation, referencing how many times Homura tried to save her in the main anime before she made her final wish to become Ultimate Madoka, and a figurine blowing at Kyoko's soul gem in her transformation, which reminds me of the fact that in the main anime she kissed her soul gem right before sacrificing herself to defeat Octavia)

I'm just gonna make this comment again here because I almost ended up arguing with someone with what I said....
Just seeing a brief glimpse of the older version of the girls is a deep reminder of the future that's been robbed of them by Kyubey. Because he played with their emotions, actively chose not to disclose the fact that they'll inevitably become witches, knew which age group to target. They are destined to suffer from their fate because of him. Hear me out. If you argue that it wasn't Kyubey's fault, chose not to disclose that part because they didn't ask, and that he doesn't have emotions to understand, he has observed long enough and knows what to say to get a girl to agree in becoming a magical girl. It's already evident that Madoka and the others aren't the first to agree in becoming one in exchange of their wish to come true. Look at the end of one of the timelines Homura witnessed. Kyubey knew what to say to Madoka as they watched Homura was lose the one fight that could have ended the need to loop time. He used the situation to his advantage. Same with every single girl that's come in contact with the little fucker. Sayaka would never have become a magical girl if he hadn't told her that he can grant one wish in exchange for her eternal service! Kyubey doesn't care what happens to the girls. What matters is that they get their job done while they observe and experiment

Very very very nice compilation! Buuut I think Mami's, Kyoko's, and Homura's transformation would sound WAY better if you pause a beat or two on their respective "touch the screen" part. I know Sayaka has one too but Sayaka's is the opposite and the music flows better without pause, just like in this video right now. Madoka doesn't have a touch screen pause though, so she's cool. I love the references to their witches
Mami: paper dolls changing clothes because Candeloro is the dress-up witch.
Kyoko: the flaming people in kimonos are a reference to Zoe, the familiars of Ophelia, the wudan witch.
Sayaka: has the underwater motifs and musical notes of Oktavia, the mermaid witch.
Homura: Has her dancing ballet and her soul gem breaking, a reference to Homulilly, the nutcracker witch.
Madoka: She reaches up to the sky in the same way Kriemhild Gretchen, the salvation witch does.
Ultimate Madoka: She approaches and embraces Earth in a gigantic size, just like Ultimate Kriemhild Gretchen in the last episode of the original series.

I noticed that Homura's scene has this bit where it looks like a streaming video buffering ring. That's both really clever and so hilarious I laughed out loud.
TBH, Mami's transformation is the best from the music to the story behind it...
If you look closely at madoka transformation in 2:00, you can see a reflection of her adult version in her eye. (the details always amazed me)
I think all of these transformations are pretty solid.
Kyoko's is my favourite - after all she is my favourite character - and there are just SO many aspects of her transformation that I love! (The arcade with the dancing Yuma's, the fact that she looking STUNNING in her black dress, her little sister, the music, the fire, the effects with the hands. All of it was cool)
I think I like Homura's next, purely because it's so atmospheric and the music is beautiful. The use of the split screen is smart and intriguing, and just love the over all "mysterious" feel to it. Lots of symbolism too which is awesome.
Madoka's just gets me emotional every time. It's symbolic, visually stunning and moving. And she looks adorable when reaching out to her Goddess self.
I think I like Mami's next. The fashion part is cute, but it kinda threw me off. However, I love the second part of her transformation. She looks GORGEOUS and so mature!! It brought a tear to my eye to see her looking older.
Lastly, Sayaka (which also fits because she is my least favourite). I don't mind her transformation. The girls joining in to make small cameos was surprising and quite cute (And Homura was freaking hilarious). The only part I really love about hers is her LONG HAIR. My does she look pretty!

I'm just constantly worried that all their transformations show them, briefly, as adults in this life before those are rejected and we're brought back to "current" them. Whaddya wanna bet those older snapshots are how old they'd all be in a proper timeline where they haven't been stuck in a month-long time loop for years? It's subtle and chilling.

So, i noticed just now after watching this like A LOT. If you see the end of each transformation, you can see everyone is smiling. EXCEPT my favorite character, Kyouko. She's also have her face is like covered in shadow because the fire behind her when she's facing the screen. And everyone else has their face is look bright while facing the screen. Am i the only one thingking this is might be have a connection to the next movie or the game or it's just a concidence??

Well, as some of you guys already noticed, those Rune characters in each of the first scene surreptitiously change the spelling of PMMM. Instead, it actually means 'PUELLA MAGI MADOK☆MAGICA.' They omitted the letter 'A' everytime, but I don't think this is just a mistake.
In fact, Shaft initially asked just the normal logo of PMMM for their new transformation videos, but those eventually were changed, missing the letter 'A.' This is because Gekidan Inu Curry suggested to make them in this way, I guess.
Fans from some forums are arguing that this must be another symbol of twists and turns in Magia Record which we don't figure out yet, but on the other hand, many are thinking that it also could be a humble signal saying "Take it easy guys; this story is irrelevant to PMMM TV Show and Rebellion. It's just PMMM-like bittersweet story. Don't take this too seriously!"
