    Great tip about taking the heads off to shafts… I put them in the head covers and put them in the side of my golf bag. I also take pictures of the settings so I can forget clubhead settings

    Great video! I was curious about the hard cases as I've only ever had soft side ones but you bring up a great point with the weight and no cargo room. Great call on the sunscreen and credit card perks too.

    i agree w/ the hard cases, but some airlines, or maybe just one (e.g. Southwest Airlines), state that golf bags must be a hard case. I've read that some agents will allow a soft case but others may insist on a hard case. Of course, the logical solution to that would be to fly another airline; however, sometimes we just tend to fly the more inexpensive and/or convenient airlines when possible.

      Same airlines will make you sign a waiver if the clubs aren't packed in a hard case. Also, the airlines will cover your clubs if they are broken while in a hard case.

    I take the heads off my clubs too but I just put them in their respective head covers before putting them in the side of my golf bag. I also put the tips of my woods down in the bag so the don’t get damaged. I use a stiff arm but still like the extra assurance

      Same, I flip the shafts too. What travel bag do you use?

    Smart call on taking the heads off. Seems so obvious but would have never thought about that. Great video, love the cartoon you hahaha. Where did you get that?

    Great tips! Thank you for sharing.
    As a hard case user, maybe these inputs will help:
    1) Using a JONES stand bag - i can fit in one pair of golf shoes.
    2) Once all 4 heads are removed, they can be placed inside the case.
    3) One rain jacket
    4) One towel.
    5) Sun block tubes.
    One of the main downsides is if you are playing different courses and you have to lug around that hard case which is essentially the size of another golf bag. The soft cases are easily folded and stored.
    The upside is I've never had a broken club - whereas my friends have experienced broken shafts several times already.

    50 lbs max so ..
    1) I bring 6 balls and buy on location
    2) no umbrella or the worlds lightest one I have for camping
    3) light golf spikeless shoes that double as casual shoes
    4) ultralight rain gear
    5) I might drop a club or two

    Does the golf clubs count as checked baggage or do I need to expect to pay more?

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  Рік тому +1

      Depends. I have a travel credit card so I get 1 free checked bag so I don’t pay for checked luggage.

    You mentioned you are from Canada. How many Golf balls do you pack in your golf bag? I just read from Porter Airlines you are only supposed to back 12 balls in your check-in golf bag.

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  10 місяців тому +1

      Usually 2 dozen. Just fill your ball bag. They will never enforce a 1 doz max. As long as your bag weighs under the allowed max 50 lbs or what ever it is.

    i have traveled around the world with a hard travel case that has lots of space for extra shoes and heavy jackets in case things get cold so i totally disagree with your first comment

      I had a $500 SKB hard case and couldn’t make it more than 1 trip. To each their own, but I’m speaking from my personal experience and stand by what I said. I respect you like your hard case, but there are better options in my opinion.

    Do you ever insure your baggage?

    • @NewNineGolf
      @NewNineGolf  2 роки тому +2

      I do not. I have insurance coverage through my MasterCard. Also, as a Golf Canada member, they have a $2,500 coverage for lost, stolen or damaged goods. Unrelated to my golf clubs I had items stolen from my checked luggage. I dealt with the airline and they replaced the stolen items.
