- Check out this eerie exclusive trailer for Pools, the upcoming psychological horror game coming to PC via Steam on April 26, 2024. Watch this new Pools gameplay trailer for a look at what to expect.
Pools is similar to an art gallery where you look around and listen to the sounds. There's no UI, no dialogue, and no music. There are very few things to solve, practically a few mazes. Sometimes the game will challenge your navigation skills. But mostly you're just... there.
#Gaming #IGN #Horror - Ігри
The real horror is the fact that we have to walk around in wet shoes and socks for the entirety of the game.
If they had included that [squizzle] sound wet socks make, then there would need to be a trigger warning.
Yup trench foot
😬😂
Only few days maximum, compared to the actual frontlines where you have to be soaked for weeks or months in the same clothes and never take off your military shoes, this game is a kids walk
Yeah.
This is the type of game that has you on the edge of your seat the whole time thinking there’s going to be a jump scare every corner, but there never will be one.
and when you finally convince yourself that there is no jumpscares, the huge one will appear and you will die of a heart attack
@@lstprj Nah, no jumpscares at all. But on new game plus, they will be.
@@TanksnstuffsWhat's the plot?
@@jackislegitterrified3689 No, it was just another guess lol
You know what’s even more panic inducing than a jump scare? A sudden musical cue and a prompt that says “Hold shift to run”.
Graphics are getting pretty crazy these days. It still doesn't feel real, but more like a surreal dream than a video game.
That’s honestly better
@@thatguy6227 right? It will never feel real anyway.
These aren’t the graphics lol. It’s just some dude walking around with an HD camera lol
@@joshcantrell8397Please be trolling.
@@mechadekapretty sure he is lol
Man if only smell-o-vision caught on so that we can smell the ridiculous amount of chlorine that these pools have!
Omg I’d die of happiness
Chlorine only smells like that when it reacts with sweat or piss.
Came here to say what @@deadlyapple8333said. Mark Rover proved it.
Just pour chlorine in a container and piss in it and set it up on your desk for that authentic smell
Just have an open bottle of chlorine on your desk when you play
Now the real question, can you pee in the pool?
That is the secret area, the piss room
no the real psychological horror is that you have to hold it in the whole game
That my friends. Is the true horror
That's when the _real_ horror begins 💩
Of course
This definitely needs to be in VR.
Corykenshin need to play this
Agreed!
VR is dead.
@@NecramoniumVideo VR market is growing 10-30% every year, does this mean everyone is using VR in 5 years? No. But it's not dead either. It's a steadily growing industry worth tens of billions 😄
@NecramoniumVideo Sony just released their second consumer console vr model last year and it’s set to be the better one. Vr will take off very soon.
So... a game about exploring the watery sections of the Backrooms. No monsters. Only the constant suffocating fear that you might not be alone. Or the much more frightening possibility that you really are, and that escape is unlikely.
What's much more frightening is that this will cost money.
@@pewerjeniusWhat's more frightening than that is that people will buy it, further proving that creativity is dead and success only comes from trendhopping and pressing the ray tracing button in Unreal Engine.
The tourist area of the backrooms.
@@PsychoticPanda_ Are you more upset that you didn't bother, or that if you did bother, you'd find out that the reality is not quite as you think it is?
@@babybirdhome it's pretty face value. Also you don't sound intelligent you just sound like a neckbeard desperately trying to be seen.
Is my character gonna yell "Weeeeeeee"", when they go down the waterslide?🤔
Asking the important questions!
You can. but no one will hear your scream. except your neighbors. 😄
Modders will step in
maybe, and just the echoes follow...

It seems one developer enjoyed a particular level of the backrooms and wasn't ready to leave
There is a subsect of the fandom called the Poolrooms
Developer used purchased assets for their "game" , basically as of now it's just prerendered shite vids ...and will be going the same way as every other "developer" who tries to use free market culture to get money 😅
SCP/Backrooms/copypasta/literally anything else 😂
Trying to monetize a internet meme may grab you some cash , but nobody is gonna remember this slideshow game in 3 years
@@pinnnkyton if I'm not mistaken you can play this on the tutorial of VoTV.. 😂
@@colddeadwitch exactly 🤣🤣 that cumfart of a game is exactly the level of quality you expect from these "developers"
@@pinnnkyton Why are the assets for sale? It still matters how the devs use them in creative ways in their game.
This is like one of my strange dreams, before games like this started coming out.
should check out liminal spaces. theres a whole subreddit
Stanley decided to go for a swim.
All of the other swimmers were gone. What could it mean?
Dude it would've been awesome if this was a sequel to The Stanley Parable or something DLC-ish or spin off
Liminal spaces/abandoned mall vibes
like every other liminal spaces game?
"poolrooms", my boy

1:22 lil fella waiting for you
The slide at 0:11 is literally impossible to ride without falling out of.
Action Park in the 90s actually had those slides
Kind of provokes more thought about the origins of a space like this. You either fly down the 90 degree angle and die at the bottom of the slide or more likely fly off the top part and die. Its like some abstract being or AI trying to understand human spaces, but just ends up making multiple death traps unknowingly in the process.
Psh, not with THAT attitude.
Maybe if you're bad at slides idoit

Thanks google translate
Google translates it to March Pole lol
1:12 important question: do you get a flashlight?
What was that shadow?
A duck
The camera needs to turn when you go down the slide
The player needs to turn it
If nightmare-based games are the emerging hotness, I'd like to go ahead and put in a request for Sprawling Maze of Filthy and/or Broken Toilets.
THIS.
Stfunkup b4 they actually do it
Ask liminal spaces/dreamcore/traumacore forums and subreddits if they like your idea.
There's something about tiles that just make them such a creepy surface when they cover everything
As an avid waterpark enjoyer, this woul be more of a dream come true than being scary.
Really hope there’s no cheesy monster and the scares come from the ambience and environment
What do you mean? A monster or monsters is what this “game” is missing lmao
@@DuskLegend brain rot
@@diegeticfridge9167 that’s not brain rot, the brain rot is thinking walking around doing nothing is worth your time
@@DuskLegend lol, you are exactly the type of person who ruined the back rooms.
The creepy atmosphere is the monster. Not some shitty 3D model that plays a UA-cam mp3 scream when it catches you.

Right?!? What the hell is the purpose of this game?
You’re telling me neither one of you felt tense when the guy started running and then looked behind him?
It's a backroom flashbacks
You people would not stand a chance playing Yume Nikki 😂
Y’all never played Myst or Riven? Walking as gameplay is a staple of gaming. Feel the atmosphere. Also there are some puzzles in here as well.
Except for the unlit sections, this looks really chill and calming.
Backrooms spinoff?
Backrooms is creative commons
Or possibly superliminal. I’d rather it be like that. That game was trippy.
More Liminal spaces related.

@@cheeseboi588 Yup.
It would be a great twist if there wasn't any monster at all but the environment just keeps you on edge at all times
That’s not a twist that’s a waste of money, nothing to do. Even “relaxation” games like Nintendogs or Endless Ocean, hell even power wash simulator have more gameplay than that lol
Maybe there could be a 1/1000 chance of something awful spawning in. Or something else ominous to engage the player, like a hidden lore or whispers of *something*. Just walking around won't be fun/interesting for more than a half hour
"Gameplay." It's cool that they're really leaning into liminal spaces, though.
They're not even original assets
@@GolemCC oh that's why it's too plasticy. Wow, they made a walking sim with asset store assets and made it onto IGN?
@@pineappleparty1624it's crazy. The steam description is just describing every feature the game DOESN'T have.
Feel like the genre is going back to 90s PC days of "Myths" but warehouse and facilities.
Myst?

@@HopperDragon if you mean Myst, you're crazy right. Mast is an explorative masterpiece.
back rooms but in pool, should've called this back pools
backrooms lvl2 is this.
Can this be in multiplayer? Then we can throw pool parties.
Reminds me of the abandoned building exploration shorts. Only thing missing is the dissonant track and a fake getaway 🏃♀️ 🚔
Isn't this based on one of those gmod maps that you run away from a png?
thats based on the backrooms which is liminal horror. this is also liminal horror
NOT horror
Do you fight chlorine?
You have a wrinkle meter.
Do you have a time to go pee pee meter.
Ive had a dream of this before😮 this is so nostalgic from something I've never seen before

NO RUNNING AT THE POOL📢
Will rooms autogenerate? Or are they prebuilt?
At least there is no one there except us, right, right?
The description of the game already says so, so yes.

Will there be open ocean
P.T. 2: The Swimming Pool. Brilliant work by Kojima here lol.
These hyper real games are incredible!
What a submersive experience!
Isn’t this Return to Render’s back room documentary series? It sure looks like his vision of the back room.
So are you like trapped in there and trying to escape?
Read desc
0:58 you should make the camera turn into the direction you are heading
I’ve had dreams like this but didn’t remember them until now, thanks
"real horror is not the jumpscare, but waiting for it" Game Design principle
I've always deamt of a game exactly like this.
is there anything to the game beyond the somewhat eerie atmosphere or is the entire game just walking
Well there was that one silhouette of a child, so I’m only guessing that you’re not really alone
I’ve been seeing a lot of games like this lately, and judging by the description, it’s just walking. It’s supposed to be viewed as more of an art exhibit/experience than a video game. If that’s not your cup of tea, don’t play it
@@jacobw.8631 exactly. we try to communicate it clearly in the description so people won't buy it by mistake. we often say POOLS is more of a virtual art gallery than a game in the conventional sense - we think games are art.
@@jacobw.8631 there is nothing to "play" here... Its literally just walking in a render. Waste of money

it needs bodycam pov to be immersive
1:08 Vergil confirmed
Yo dawg we heard you like liminal pools so we made liminal pools for your liminal pools; so you can liminal pools while you liminal pools.
Have a stalker like Mr x, hearing his steps echo and the splashes would be terrifying.
This in VR would be next level
I’ve been wanting a pool rooms game so bad ❤
can you even call walking sims horrors? this backrooms thing has been done to death already
This is just the backrooms,
I'm not complaining about it,
but this is just the backrooms.
01:04 where is the splash and bubbles?
I've seen this exact game in my dreams before.
The forboding atmosphere is on point but what is the purpose if there is nothing out there to be afraid of or wary about... it's just a backroom walking simulator with amazing graphics
That is the point though
not all horror needs jumpscares
Straight up a whole game is worth one level of the Backrooms.
0:29 it’s giving Cube (1997) when they stick their heads out of the hole and look out.
The colored floats part, specially, feels like those graphic cards demos of 2010s
No UI, No dialogue, no music. You're just there......
So what part of this is suppose to scare me?
You don’t get it! It’s kind of creepy!
Zoomers ruin everything, including horror lol
This seems like nothing. Nothing happens in the trailer, there is no apparent peril or antagonist. Nothing following, nothing stalking or approaching, nothing even eerie or spooky. It was just a VR tour of a weirdly designed leisure centre. Hype level 0
Based on early footage, there are spooky moments in the game. That point aside, the description you gave does not seem like a negative to me. People can enjoy different things, you know. I'm more "hyped" for this than almost any AAA game.
@@Singularity606why are you defending this so hard? It doesn’t matter if “people can enjoy different things!” you shouldn’t even compare this to those AAA or even indie games because if little to nothing happens, it’s not even a game. The creator has left comments calling it an “art experience” or some nonsense
@@DuskLegend This is perfect for me and I'm not going to stop enjoying it.
@@Singularity606 okay, but it’s not a game, it’s a game in progress. You can enjoy whatever you like

What the point of this game what is the main objective?
Getting out of the pool
Walking around.
Swimming
Wow another backrooms horror walking simulator with no gameplay or originality, can't wait
Why does the camera stay static when going down a slide... should look where you're going
Coming to pc. Where else would it be avaliable
So pretty much another tech demo with the most basic barebones gameplay imaginable?
Yeah lol
On paper this sounds like it could be scary/phobic but it didn’t really hit like that
The best jumpscare isn't a jumpscare.
Finally, something to help me overcome my crippling fear of waterparks
The real horror is there is no real horror.
so uh, just another subliminal pool game? how many did we have already? for free? repetetive? boring..
When will it come to macOS?
this is where SOPHIE was laid to rest

Honestly the gameplay looks boring.
Because there is none lol
So, just walking around wet liminal spaces? Boy that’s going to go over well with today’s young people who think that a 10 second TikTok video is too long.
This a pretty unique dreamscape.
Wow. Just look at those pools.
when is the multiplayer?
I’ve had actual dreams/nightmares about a place like this…
LIMINAL SPACE BACKROOMS
"Go here"
"In the dark *and* the wet?"
"Go in the dark and wet"
The lighting is insane
Ive had nightmares incredibly similar to this exact scenario

Everyone's calling this a horror game, but really, this feels very chill and relaxing to have an entire indoor pool area all to yourself.
Looks like it similar to game where u escape the train station but jump scares would be different in each room
