In Aang’s generation, the Avatar’s job was to stop crazy warlords, like Ozai. In Korra’s generation poor girl now has to deal with political enemies, similar to Long Feng, who like to find ways to politically undermine the global importance of the Avatar.

Small detail: Tarrlok is sitting JUST like Yakone in the courtroom scene. Really nails home the juxtaposition of him being his son

Imagine the series without this plot twist, Amon woulda used it to rally more discord.

This entire universe is full of plot twists and deus ex machinas. Avatar is not the masterpiece people make it out to be
Nah I'm sure he would of been knocked out. The fire that comes with firebending varies on how hot the user wants it to be along with how strong they are.

When I was watching this for the first time I wondered if Korra stopped, cause she realised that would have gone too far if she had used firebending on him. But no, the true reason shocked me even more.

Nah, Katara could probably take on Tarrlock, if not Amon. If Korra ever found out that Katara is a bloodbender, she’d likely say the same thing she did to Tarrlock at 1:29. I mean… being a bloodbender, speaking out against bloodbending which convinces everyone around her that she’s no bloodbender (a cover story), intending to restore balance… Katara and Amon have a lot in common; why wouldn’t bending strength be one of these things?

@@originaler31er67 How can you be certain that Katara isn’t equally strong as any of them? She is hiding her status as a bloodbender, so why wouldn’t she hide her bending strength too? There are reasons why people think Katara will win. You know that speaking out against a concept is a great cover story for manipulating everyone into thinking you don’t indulge in that concept. Who knows how many times off camera she’s bloodbent something or someone to train to not need the full moon?

He wasn’t able to go into the avatar state at will until much later.
